Mrs. Miller was preceded in death by her husband, Phillip Miller, in January 1999. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Derek and Lacey Miller of Georgia, Kent and Teena Miller of Vista and Rod Miller of Los Angeles; and four grandchildren.

John Moorhouse, 77
JULIAN - John G. Moorhouse, 77, died Thursday, Dec. 30, 1999, at his home in Julian.
Born Feb. 3, 1922, in Kansas, he lived in Julian. He was a racer in San Diego in the 1940s and 1950s, winning 69 local and regional midget races from 1946 to 1958. He won the URA championship in 1953. In Julian, he owned the Chevron service station until retiring in 1982.
Mr. Moorhouse is survived by his wife, Virginia Moorhouse of Julian; sons John L. Moorhouse of Ramona and Bob Moorhouse of Santee; daughter Sherrie of Costa Mesa; eight grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
Viewing will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. today, Jan. 7, at Bonham Bros. & Lee Ramona Chapel. A funeral service will follow, with Fred Slaughter officiating. A private entombment will take place at Greenwood Memorial Park in San Diego.

RANCHO SANTA FE - Vera J. Darra, 94, died Saturday, Dec. 25, 1999, at her home in Rancho Santa Fe.
Born in Billings, Mont., she lived in San Diego County for 53 years. She was a homemaker and a captain in the Salvation Army for 15 years.
Mrs. Darra is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jeanne and Omer Ruiz of Rancho Santa Fe; sister Jeanne Wahlen of San Diego; seven grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
A private funeral Mass was celebrated at St. James Catholic Church in Solana Beach. Interment
took place at Riverside National Cemetery.

CARLSBAD - Frederic William Maerkle, 88, died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2000, in Carlsbad.
Born April 21, 1911, in Lakewood, Ohio, he lived in Carlsbad for 45 years. He owned and operated Carlsbad Building Materials for more than 40 years and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a director of Carlsbad Municipal Water District, a member of Oceanside Masonic Lodge No. 381 F&AM, Al Bahr Shrine of San Diego, past president of San Luis Rey Shrine Club and Desert Hot Springs Elks Lodge No. 2639 BPOE.
Mr. Maerkle is survived by his wife, Betty Maerkle of Carlsbad; son Fritz Maerkle of Washington, D.C.; daughter Jean Sidle of Cupertino; and five grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, at Oceanside Elks Lodge, A private cremation is planned.

LONG BEACH - Lois Sanders Danker, 74, died Friday, Dec. 31, 1999, of a viral infection and heart condition, in Westminster.
Born Nov. 13, 1925, in Slick, Okla., she lived in Long Beach for 36 years. She was a housewife and a member of a non-denominational church in Long Beach as well as the First Baptist Church in Slick, Okla.
Mrs. Danker was preceded in death by her brothers, G.C. Sanders, in 1958, Riley Sanders, in 1979 and Orville Sanders, in 1983; and sister Zola Smith, in 1989. She is survived by her companion of 10 years, Dee Ann Brown of Long Beach; two daughters; twin brother Lloyd Sanders of Oceanside; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces.
Visitation will be held at 1 p.m. today, Jan. 7, at Westminster Memorial Park. A memorial service is scheduled for 3 p.m. today, Jan. 7, also at Westminster Mortuary, with the Rev. David Orndorf, 61
OCEANSIDE - David L. Orndorf, 61, died Monday, Jan. 3, 2000, at his home in Oceanside.
Born Jan. 31, 1938, in Dayton, Ohio, he lived in Oceanside for 29 years. He worked for the Army-Navy Academy in Carlsbad as adjutant and served in the U.S. Marine Corps for 20 years, retiring as first sergeant.
Mr. Orndorf is survived by his wife of 35 years, Zenaida Orndorf of Oceanside; daughters and son-in-law Judy Orndorf of Redwood City and Tammy and Gary Dagan of Alexandria, Va., and Christina Orndorf of Vista; brother Michael Orndorf of Winchester; sister Susie Shields of West Milton, Ohio; and granddaughter Dacia Webb.

GRAND TERRACE - Mary Julia McPharlin, 86, died Friday, Dec. 31, 1999, at Loma Linda University Medical Center.
Born Jan. 6, 1913, in Chizm, Texas, she lived in Grand Terrace for two years and had lived in Sun City for 25 years. She was the manager of Your Valet Co. for 18 years and a volunteer at the Beaumont Convalescent Hospital in Beaumont until the age of 84.
Ms. McPharlin is survived by her sister, Inez Casstevens of Limestone, N.Y., sister-in-law Sara Casstevens of Pacoima; niece Bobbie Lancaster of Sumner, Wash.; and great-niece Teresa Avants of Grand Terrace.

FALLBROOK - Rosamond T. Albert, 93, died Sunday, Dec. 19, 1999, in Murrieta.
Born July 11, 1906, in Brooklyn, N.Y., she lived in Fallbrook for four years. She was a professional musician, retiring in 1990 after 70 years. As a pianist, she played throughout the New York area and was organist for the Albertson Memorial Church in Greenwich, Conn., for 30 years. She taught music and attended the Eastman School of Music at the University of Rochester, N.Y.
Mrs. Albert is survived by her daughter, Caryl S. Garachana of Oregon; stepdaughter Leane Harrington of Mount Dora, Fla.; grandchildren Karin L. Runyen of Temecula, Carrie A. Harrington of Arlington, Mass., Alan L. Harrington of San Francisco; and great-grandchildren Charlyn D. Teagarden of Arizona, Jodi L. Runyen and Elizabeth Tanner Runyen, both of Temecula, and Michael James Teagarden.

Born July 28, 1919, in Orland, he lived in Escondido for 17 years. He worked for Hoover Tractor Co. and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II as a B-17 pilot. He was a member of Elks Lodge in Woodland and Escondido.
Mr. Miller is survived by his wife of 22 years, Evelyn C. Miller of Escondido; sons Michael Miller of Walnut Creek and Mark Mendell of Vista; daughters Becky Allen of Carmel, Melinda Larkin of Hemet and Melody Mendell of Escondido; brother Gene Miller of Walnut Creek; and grandchildren Matthew and Chelsea Allen, Meghan and Amy Miller and Kristine Larkin.
