Mrs. Van Bockern was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Van Bockern; daughter Jeanette Crammer; and two grandchildren. She is survived by her son, Clayton Zahniser of Newport Beach; daughters Karlene Snyder of Carlsbad and Betty Hippe of Corona Del Mar; sister Delia Rawlings of Texas; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Born June 18, 1920, in Canada, she lived in Escondido for 52 years. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Homme is survived by her husband, Stanley Homme of Escondido; son Bernardo Homme of Folsom; daughters Marilyn Johnson of Gaithersburg, Mo., and Sharon Roukal of Littleton, Colo.; sister Karen Has-Ellison of El Cajon; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Born March 3, 1943, in Michigan, he lived in North County for 30 years. He was a machinist in North County for 30 years.
Mr. Robinson is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Joel and Jennifer Robinson of Las Vegas; daughters and their partners Tracy Robinson and Bill Blackwell of Oceanside and Torey Robinson and Steve O'Neal of Vista; and grandson Nicholas Robinson.

Born in Boone, Iowa, she lived at Lake San Marcos for 33 years. She worked for Lockheed as a technical illustrator before retiring after 10 years.
Mrs. Dodds is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Dianna and William Schwarz of Foster City; grandsons and their wives Robert and Katherine Schwarz and Brent and Stephanie Schwarz; and great-grandson Austin Schwarz.

ESCONDIDO - Fred L. Elliott, 80, died Saturday, July 29, 2000, at Palomar Medical Center.
Born Dec. 28, 1919, in Cincinnati, he lived in Escondido. He joined the Civilian Conservation Corps and was associated with the Dairymen's Creamery in Caldwell, Idaho, and served with the First Calvary Division in Tokyo. He graduated from the College of Idaho and received his master's degree from Stanford University. He retired from the biology department at Palomar Community College in San Marcos.
A private service will be held with Interment to take place in Caldwell.

Born June 10, 1928, in Norman, Okla., he lived in Rancho Bernardo for 20 years. He was a state and federal meat inspector from 1957 to 1985 and owned a 7-11 in Escondido for 25 years. He was a member of the Masons, San Diego Lodge No. 35 and the Elks Club, Escondido Lodge, for 37 years.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife of 12 1/2 years, Billie Smith of Rancho Bernardo; daughter and son-in-law Gail L. and Gerald E. Hinson; and sister Mary Ella Turner of Hattiesburg, Miss.

EUGENE, Ore. - Melissa Ann Theodore Cook, 25, died Tuesday, July 25, 2000, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eugene.
Born Feb. 9, 1975, in San Bernardino, she lived in N.E. Keizer, Ore. She graduated from Grant Union High School in 1993, where she was a member of the music and drama clubs. She attended Eastern Oregon State College, studying to be a neonatal nurse. She was a new accounts representative at the Oregon Employee's Federal Credit Union in Salem. She was a member of the LDS Relief Society and enjoyed crafts and music.
Mrs. Cook was preceded in death by her brother, James Cory Theodore; brother-in-law Randall Cook; and father-in-law Elvin Ray Cook. She is survived by her husband, Ray Cook of Keizer, Ore.; son James Randall Cook of Keizer; daughter Rebecca Annalyssa Cook of Keizer; mother Kathy Theodore of John Day; father and step-mother Tedd and Lisa Theodore of Vista; sisters Nicole Theodore of Keizer, Teddi Theodore of Bend and Lauren Theodore of Vista; brothers Matt Theodore of Bend, Ryan Hendrickson, Jeff Hendrickson and Paul Hendrickson, all of Vista; mother-in-law Patricia Huskey of Canyonville, Ore.; brother-in-law Lance Cook of Star City, Ark.; grandparents Eldon and Wanda Weaver of Canyonville, Ore., and step-grandparents Earl and Ann Williams of Vista.

Born Oct. 5, 1920, in Los Angeles, he lived in Escondido for 52 years. He was a rural mail carrier for the Escondido Orange Street Post Office before retiring in 1982. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of Hidden Valley Christian Church, serving as elder, deacon, trustee and greeter.
Mr. Neutzling is survived by his wife of 45 years, Mae E. Neutzling of Escondido; niece Jane and Alan March of Escondido; sister-in-law Lucy Halliday of Sacramento; brother-in-law Glenn Warnick of Mount Auburn, Ill.; cousin Windsor Taunton of Lancaster; great-niece Kara and Craig Clewett of Escondido; and great-nephew Greg and Elaine Fitzpatrick of Poway.

Born May 31, 1912, in Elgin, Ill., she lived in Fallbrook for 40 years. She owned Schaeffer's Nursery in Fallbrook for 54 years and was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Fallbrook, past member of St. Peter's Ladies Altar Society and past member of the Fallbrook Garden Club.
Mrs. Schaeffer was preceded in death by her husband, Max Schaeffer, in 1972. She is survived by her sons, Roland Schaeffer of Fallbrook and Max Schaeffer of Carlsbad; daughter Margaret Lawson of Arcadia; nine grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
A Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 3, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Fallbrook. Burial will follow at Fallbrook Masonic Cemetery.

FALLBROOK - George Watto, 72, died Monday, July 24, 2000, of cancer, at his home.
Born April 27, 1928, in Nesquehoning, Pa., he lived in Fallbrook for 12 years. He was a professor emeritus, teaching business and economics for California State University in Northridge and UCLA, retiring in June 1988. He graduated from Westminster College in Pennsylvania and did graduate work at Indiana University. He served in the U.S. Navy, stationed at San Diego Naval Training Station, and was a member of St. James Presbyterian Church in Tarzana, Reseda Masonic Lodge, Los Angeles Scottish Rite Al Melaikah Temple.
Mr. Watto was preceded in death by his brother, John Watto, Andrew Watto, Paul Watto and Peter Watto; and his sister, Anna Hrapsky. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Ruth Watto of Fallbrook.
