FALLBROOK - William C. "Bill" Keller, 88, died Sunday, Aug. 13, 2000.
Born Dec. 6, 1911, in Elgin, Ill., he lived in Fallbrook. He was an aeronautical engineer who served as chief design engineer for the XB-46 jet bomber and the B-24 Liberator aircraft. He was a graduate of New York University and worked in international sales for Ryan Aeronautics and served as a design engineer for new product development with such products as the Kett Rechargeable Shaver, portable drum barograph, thermal nautical speedometer and Helios signal mirror. He was a licensed pilot and a Paul Harris Fellow of the Fallbrook Rotary Club. He founded the Good Neighbor Alarm Co. and the Great Circle Instruments Co. in Fallbrook.
Mr. Keller was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Eleanor "Nornie" Keller. He is survived by his daughter, Gretchen Terry of Fallbrook; son Dixon Keller of Clackamas, Ore.; stepdaughter Debra Zinn of Pendleton, Ore.; brothers Kenneth Keller and George Keller; and seven grandchildren.
Evelyn Faison, 89
ESCONDIDO - Evelyn Laura Faison, 89, died Sunday, Aug. 13, 2000, in Escondido.
Born Sept. 29, 1910, in Providence, R.I., she lived in Escondido for 11 years. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Faison was preceded in death by her husband, West Faison Sr., in 1991. She is survived by her companion of 15 years, Chico Faison of Escondido; son and daughter-in-law West Jr. and Sharon Faison of Montgomery, Texas; daughter and son-in-law Barbara and Fred Browand of Altadena; one brother; one sister; grandchildren Leslie Browand, Terry Browand Gordon and Douglas Browand; and great-grandchildren Julian Gordon, Zoey Gordon, Halie Gordon and Ray Mueller.
No service will be held at the request of the deceased. A private cremation is planned.

ALEXANDRIA, Va. - Arline Bergvall, 83, died Tuesday, July 18, 2000, in Alexandria.
Born July 20, 1916, in Virginia, Minn., she lived in Fallbrook from 1978 to 1993 and was a member of the Fallbrook Tennis Club and the Angel Society of Fallbrook. She was a school secretary before retiring.
Mrs. Bergvall was preceded in death by her husband, Ardell Bergvall. She is survived by her daughters, Karen Wilde of Arlington and Janis Magnuson of Reston, Va.; son John Bergvall of Medina, Ohio; and four grandchildren.
Marciana Nieva, 92
ESCONDIDO - Marciana Fortes Nieva, 92, died Sunday, Aug. 13, 2000, at Palomar Medical Center.
Born Oct. 29, 1907, in Agoo La Union, Philippines, she lived in Escondido for seven years and recently had lived in Murrieta. She was a homemaker and enjoyed dancing and singing.
Mrs. Nieva is survived by her daughters, Ceferina Lagasca, Consuelo Boado and Genovena Viloria, all of the Philippines, Violita Bucasas of Carson and Nellie Gagarin of Temecula; 16 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a rosary recited at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 18, at St. Martha's Catholic Church in Murrieta. A Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, at the church. Burial will follow at Laurel Cemetery in Murrieta.

SUN CITY - Juanita Utley, 79, died Monday, Aug. 14, 2000, at St. Bernadine Medical Center.
Born Jan. 20, 1921, in McAlester, Okla., she lived in Sun City for 20 years. She was a real estate agent for Betty Agney Realty in Sun City for 20 years and for Tarbell in Wildomar. She was a founding member of the Women's Associates of Michigan Christian College, now Rochester College in Rochester, Mich., and a member of the Valley Church of Christ in Sun City.
Mrs. Utley is survived by her husband, G. Wheeler Utley of Sun City; daughter Jean Bechler of Bloomfield Hills, Mich.; son Bob Utley of La Habra; sister Earline Rogers of Redlands; and three grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. today, Aug. 17, at Valley Church of Christ in Sun City. A private cremation is planned.

WILDOMAR - Emmett Francis O'Hara, 85, died Sunday, Aug. 13, 2000, at his home.
Born Oct. 28, 1914, in St. Louis, he lived in Wildomar for 26 years. He was a painting contractor for 58 years.
Mr. O'Hara is survived by his wife, Shirley O'Hara of Wildomar; sons Jack O'Hara of Tucson, Ariz., and Timothy O'Hara of Wildomar; and grandson Patrick O'Hara of Tucson, Ariz.
A Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 18, at St. Frances of Rome Catholic Church in Wildomar.

Born July 22, 1926, in Mount City, Kan., she lived in Sun City for 10 years and had lived in Downey for 40 years. She was a secretary for Albertson's in Downey for three years and enjoyed shopping, telling jokes and playing the slots in Las Vegas and Laughlin, Nev.
Mrs. Odneal is survived by her daughters, Beverly Dunn of Rialto, Cathy Keesling of Huntington Beach and Gayle McCauley of Reno, Nev.; son Stephen Odneal of Huntington Beach; sister Rosalee Allen of Wichita, Kan.; brothers Bob Anderson of El Dorado, Kan., and Donald Anderson of Mission, Kan.; sister Betty Ehling of Wichita; and four grandchildren.

PERRIS - Gerald L. Mazlo, 71, died Monday, Aug. 14, 2000.
Born Dec. 31, 1928, in Waukegan, Ill., he lived in Perris for 12 years. He was the owner and operator of Gerry Mazlo Skiploader Rental in Los Angeles and Orange before retiring in 1988, and served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. He was a member of the Operating Engineers Local 12 for 35 years.
Mr. Mazlo is survived by his wife, Edith Mazlo of Perris; daughters Karroll L. Mazlo of Sun City, Kathy Abrantes of San Bernardino; stepdaughter Linda Taylor of Golden, Colo.; son Craig Mazlo of Norco; stepson Larry Gibson of Silver Lake, Ore.; brother Jack Mazlo of South Bend, Ind.; sisters Janet Smith of Hesperia and Betty Mazlo of South Bend, Ind.; mother-in-law Margaret Long of Perris; five grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Born Oct. 18, 1910, in Madison, Ill., he lived in Sun City for 11 years. He was an inspector for Norris Industry in Vernon for 20 years and was a member of St. Vincent Catholic Church.
Mr. Christoff is survived by his wife, Bertha Christoff of Sun City; son William Christoff of Long Beach; daughters and sons-in-law Joyce and Eike Hohenadl of Lake Elsinore, Karen and Terry Itterly of Norwalk and Claudia Pearl of Long Beach; brother Edward Christoff of St. Louis; sister Frieda Newberry of Belleville Ill.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

CARLSBAD - Thomas Carl Barres, 58, died Sunday, Aug. 13, 2000, at Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla.
Born Dec. 28, 1941, in Lorain, Ohio, he lived in Carlsbad for 27 years. He was an engineer for Stichler Design Group and served in the U.S. Army from 1959 to 1962. He was a member of the American Society of Professional Engineer.
Mr. Barres was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Barres, in 1994. He is survived by his sons, Kevin Barres of Pensacola, Fla., Carl Barres of Temecula and Craig Barres of Clinton, Utah; brother John Barres of Lorain; sister Kathleen Barres of Encinitas; and three grandchildren.

Born May 29, 1962, she lived in Vista for 38 years. She was a supervisor at Calloway Golf Co. She loved crafts and was a team mom for the Vista High School cheerleaders, Pop Warner and Tri-City Inline Hockey.
Mrs. Lara is survived by her mother and father, Angie and Ralph Cortez of Vista; sons Joey Lara and Nicholas Lara, both of Vista; daughter Kristi Lara of Vista; brothers Ralph Cortez Jr. of Temecula and Richard Cortez of Vista; sisters Monica Ann Cortez of San Diego and Mary Ann Cortez of Vista; and many other family members.

Born Nov. 7, 1938, in Tulare, he lived in Escondido for 30 years. He was a produce clerk at Von's grocery store before retiring and served in the U.S. Air Force.

Mrs. Plumhoff is survived by her husband of more than 50 years, Ronald "Doc" Plumhoff of Poway; son and daughter-in-law Donald A. and Joyce Radeski of Escondido; grandchildren Michael and Cheryl; and four great-grandchildren.

Born Feb. 17, 1918, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, he lived in Carlsbad for 30 years. He was a self-employed photographer and artist for more than 40 years and served in the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War II. He was a past member of the Lions Club.
Mr. Murray was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy V. Murray, in 1996. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, John S. and Cindy Murray of Paradise; daughter and son-in-law Kathryn and Chris Connelly of Mentone; and three grandchildren.

ESCONDIDO - Fred August Polewka, 99, died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2000, in Escondido.
Born Jan. 27, 1901, in Newark, N.J., he lived in Escondido. He was a machinist for Union Carbide before retiring. He enjoyed fishing and woodworking and was the former director of the Polish Men's Alliance in New Jersey.
Mr. Polewka was preceded in death by his son, Eugene Polewka, in 1995. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary M. Polewka of Escondido; daughter and son-in-law Dorothy C. and Walter Ozimek of Escondido; two nieces; one nephew; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
