Margaret Mendez
June 10, 1930 - December 12, 2004
Margaret Mendez, 75, died Dec. 12, 2004.
Born June 10, 1930, in Wyoming.
She was a homemaker, a lifelong resident of Stockton who enjoyed reading and gardening.
Survived by two loving sisters; two daughters; and two sons; one son, Ruben Mendez, Jr. of Stockton; and many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Services: Rosary/Blessing, Thursday, Dec. 16, 2004, 6:00 p.m., at Cano Funeral Home.
Visitation: Thurs., Dec. 16, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Funeral Home.
Committal: Private.
Gloria G. Risso
Aug. 7, 1922 - December 13, 2004
Gloria Risso, 82, passed peacefully into rest on Monday, December 13, 2004 with family at her side.
Gloria was born August 7, 1922 in Stockton, CA.
She will always be remembered for her quick wit, which often was followed by gales of laughter.
She was happiest when making other people laugh.
She was an avid gardener and loved playing bridge with her friends.
Her main love was her family, and she enjoyed entertaining her grandchildren with the tales of her youth.
She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Dave Risso.
She was the beloved mother of Dennis Risso and his wife, Leslie of Stockton and her daughter, Susan Risso of Seattle, WA.
She was the adored grandmother of six, Tracey, Nick, Terry and Allison Risso and Amos and Otis Cernohouz.
She was the great-grandmother of four beautiful children.
Gloria is also survived by her loving sisters, Joann Rosato and Lena Bo; sister-in-law, Marge Del Corso and numerous nephews and nieces who were all very dear to her.
Gloria was predeceased by her parents, Guilio and Giuseppina Del Corso; her sisters, Hazel Boccoli, Rena Costa and Ann Gini and her brother, Ray Del Corso.
Gloria has spent the last few years at Sommerford Place where she made many friends and was very happy.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Luke's Catholic Church, 3847 N. Sutter St., Stockton on Thursday, December 16, 2004 at 1:00 p.m.
Visitation will be at DeYoung Memorial Chapel, 601 N. California St., Stockton on Wednesday, December 15, 2004, from noon to 7:00 p.m. and on Thursday, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Committal at San Joaquin Catholic Cemetery.
Donations can be made to charity of choice.
Margaret "Marge" Brettschneider
Aug. 12, 1908 - Dec. 11, 2004
Margaret "Marge" Brettschneider, 96, a forty-one year resident of Stockton, passed away Saturday, December 11, 2004, at Beverly Healthcare Center following a brief illness.
She was born August 12, 1908, to Paul and Minna Poetke in Bremen, Germany, and she and her family immigrated to Chicago, Illinois, when Marge was 13.
Marge married Fritz "Fred" Brettschneider, and she worked 30 years for the Curtis Candy Company in Chicago, (and knew the true story behind the naming of the Baby Ruth candy bar!)
After her only child, Charles "Chuck" moved to Stockton, with his family in 1958, Marge and her husband, and her mother moved there, too, in 1963.
While her son soon was transferred to Anaheim, CA, Marge and family remained in Stockton living on Polk Way for 37 years.
She started a new career and worked a number of years for the Stockton Elevator Company as their payroll clerk.
Marge was healthy and mentally strong her whole life, for which we are all very grateful.
She was preceded in death by her husband Fritz Brettschneider; and her son and his wife, Chuck and Jean Brettschneider.
She is survived by her grandchildren, Dawn Peaslee of Wenatchee, WA, Linda Brettschneider and her fiance' Brad of Anaheim, CA, and Kirk Brettschneider and his wife Cindy of Taft, CA; great-granddaughter, Lisa Brettschneider of Taft, CA; and special friend Betty Lucas and her family in Stockton.
There will be no services at Marge's request.
A special thank you to her neighbors, friends, and loved ones who helped make Marge's life special, and also to the staff and residents of Beverly Healthcare Center for their kindness and care.

Visitation: Sunday, December 19, 2004, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., at Thompson Memorial Chapel.
Florence Green Ellis

Florence Green Ellis, 80, passed away Thursday, December 9, 2004.
She was born June 21, 1924 in Sallis, Miss.
Florence leaves to cherish fond and loving memories, five children, Annie K. Ellis, Sharon J. Ellis, Percy B. Ellis, Jr., Priscilla B. Ellis-White and Stanley R. Ellis; four grandchildren, Elijah Taylor, Tracy Ellis, Ryan Martin, Cailin Ellis; one great-grandchild, Tevan Ellis and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services: Thursday, December 16, 2004, at 11:00 at the Thompson Memorial Chapel, Stockton.
Visitation: Wednesday, December 15 from 12 noon to 7:00 p.m. with Family Quiet Hour from 6:00-7:00 p.m.
Committal: Cherokee Memorial Park, Lodi.
Delbert L. Jones
Mar. 28, 1924 - Dec. 12, 2004
Delbert L. Jones, 80, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 12, 2004.
He was born on March 28, 1924 in Glendale, Arizona.
He spent his childhood years growing up in Sparks, Oklahoma.
Delbert served in the Navy from 1944 - 46 as a Radarman on the USS Eastland.
After moving to Stockton, in 1947, he became a member of Carpenters Local Union #25 of which he was with until his retirement in 1987.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Marjorie; 5 daughters, June Gentry, Lynn Lane, Gail Eastburn; Janet Shippy, Amy Ming; 7
grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at Cherokee Memorial Park, Harney Lane & Hwy 99 on Thursday, December 16, 2004, at 1:00 p.m.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, December 15, 1:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Cherokee Funeral Home, 831 Industrial Way, Lodi, CA.
Robert Frank Allyn

Robert Frank Allyn, 66, passed away Sunday, December 12, 2004.
He was born October 5, 1938 in Seattle, Washington.
Robert worked 36 years for the United States Postal Service.
He began his career in Seattle, WA.
He moved to Stockton as Director of Mail Processing and retired as Postmaster of Marysville, CA.
He was a member of the Stockton Sons of Norway, Yuba City Lions Club and he worked as a volunteer for the American Cancer Society Discovery Shop.
Robert was the beloved husband of 44 years of Rita Allyn of Stockton; loving father of Michael Allyn and wife, Shelly, Sue Allyn, Cathy Halligan and husband, P.J. and Richard Allyn, as well as devoted family friend, Donna Kane, all of Stockton.
Cherished grandfather of Andrew Quierolo, John and Lucas Halligan, Katie, Robert, Steven and Ryan Allyn, Jacob and Christopher Allyn. Dear brother of James Allyn of Sweet Home, OR.
Friends and family are invited to attend a Vigil Service at DeYoung Memorial Chapel, 601 N. California St., Stockton, CA on Thursday, December 16, 2004 at 6:00 pm.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Church of the Presentation, 1515 W. Benjamin Holt, Stockton, at 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 17, 2004.
Visitation, December 15, noon-7:00 p.m. and Thursday, 9:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. at DeYoung Memorial Chapel.
