Willilam "Bill" Furtado
(1951 - 2010)

William "Bill" Furtado, 59, formerly of Lodi, died Sept. 3. He was born Jan. 8, 1951 in San Jose.
Mr. Furtado was a cab driver for Lodi.
He is survived by his wife, Valerie; sons, Terry, Gilbert and Michael; daughter, Lauren Furtado; step-son, David Lashley; step-daughter, Stephanie Heim; and 13 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Lee; and son, William Jr.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been opened at Umpqua Bank in his name.
American River Crematorium is assisting the family with arrangements.

Michael Klarer
(1949 - 2010)

Michael Klarer, 60, of Lodi, passed away Monday, September 13, 2010 in a San Francisco hospital. He was born in New York, on December 20, 1949 and moved to Lodi 13 years ago.
Mr. Klarer was a school teacher and basketball coach at Tokay High School and had also taught and coached basketball in Concord.
He enjoyed sports and playing golf and is preceded in death by his father, Ralph Klarer.
Survived by his wife, Lori Klarer of Lodi.
2 Daughters: Krystye Elrite of Woodbridge and her two daughters, Cody and Lexy Frazier. Mary Gulley of Lodi.
His mother: Ruth Klarer of Concord. 1 Sister: Diane Farrell of Reno.
At his request, services and visitation will not be held. Inurnment is private under the direction of the Donahue Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to: National Brain Tumor Society, East Coast Office, 124 Watertown St., Watertown, MA 02472.

Evelyn (Johnson) Kirk
(1917 - 2010)

Evelyn Johnson Kirk, 93, passed away on September 8, 2010 in her home at O'Connor Woods Retirement Community in Stockton, California after a short illness. Her dear friend, Janet Dillon was at her bedside.
Evelyn was born January 6, 1917 in Duluth, Minnesota to Albert M. and Florizel A. Johnson. She graduated from Duluth Denfeld High School in 1935 and was a loyal supporter of her class reunions. Evelyn was a lover of music and a world traveler. She enjoyed playing cribbage and was a member of the International Cribbage Club. She also was a member of the Jonathan Club in Los Angeles CA and the San Gabriel Country Club in San Gabriel, CA.
Evelyn is survived by: her sister, Betty J. Olsen, Brecksville OH; her brothers Lloyd O. Johnson (Delores) of Duluth, MN; Allen S. Johnson (Marion), of Hibbing, MN; Gayle P. Johnson (Donna Jaye) of Watertown, WI and sister-in-law, Doris Johnson of St. Paul, MN. She is also survived by her: stepson Morris P. Kirk of Newport Beach, CA; grandchildren, Kristin L. Kirk of Costa Mesa, CA; Kevin Paul Kirk (Susannah) of Long Beach, CA; Kathie Julian (Dr. Vance) of Paradise Valley, AZ; Keith Kirk of Phoenix, AZ and Kenneth T. Kirk of Phoenix, AZ. Her very special friends Cecil and Janet Dillon, daughter and God Child, Juliea of Lodi, CA. She is also survived by great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joshua Paul Kirk of Pasadena, CA, her parents and brother, Donald A. Johnson of St. Paul, MN, stepson, Trowbridge Kirk of Rancho Mirage, CA.
Evelyn will be interned next to her husband at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 1712 South Glendale Avenue, Glendale, CA 91205. There will be a celebration of Evelyn's life at St. Catherine's Chapel of O'Conner Woods Sunday, September 19, 2010 at 1 p.m. A reception will follow at O'Conner Woods Main Clubhouse Living Room. Memorials may be sent to the O'Conner Woods Assistance Fund, 3400 Wagner Heights Road, Stockton, CA 95209 or the Hospice of San Joaquin, 3888 Pacific Avenue, Stockton, CA 95204-1953.

Diana Lea (Mullaly) Francis
(1939 - 2010)

Diana Lea Mullaly Francis, 70, of Galt, died Oct. 20. She was born Oct. 27, 1939 in Sebastopol.
Mrs. Francis was a retired bookkeeper. She enjoyed baking, crocheting, swimming, reading, puzzles and taking care of her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Karen Reese; brother, Keith B. Mullaly; and a granddaughter.
A mass of Christian burial will be held at 9 a.m. Friday at Saint Christopher's Church with Father Robert A. Copsey officiating. A recitation of the Rosary will be held prior to services at 8:30 a.m.
A reception will follow mass to be held at the Catholic Community Center at the corner of F and E streets in Galt.
Ben Salas Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Brianne Nicole "Nikki" Prieto
(1995 - 2010)

"Nikki" Prieto lost her life on 9/1/10 after an automobile accident.
She was preceded in death by her baby brother, Joseph "Mathew" Simpson, earlier this year.
She is survived by parents, Andy "Drew" Prieto and Shelley Prieto; Sister Valerie Prieto.
She is also survived by grandparents, Arturo and Anne Prieto, Ray and Lois Wilson from Woodbridge and Acampo; Uncle Arturo "Art" Prieto, Woodbridge; Great Aunt Tonya De Latorre, Lockeford; Aunt Maddie and Uncle Michael Richmond from Cameron Park; Aunt Lydia Prieto and Uncle Bill Chase of Galt; Uncle Dan and Aunt Jody Wilson, Sacramento; Cousins, Austin Prieto, Woodbridge; John Kay of Galt; Nick Kay of Woodbridge and Katie Richmond, Cameron Park; Zachery Wilson and Ryan Thompson of Sacramento.
There were many more people that she considered her brothers and sisters, too numerous to mention.
Lodi Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
There will be a private family visitation on Thursday, Sept. 9th and Service on Friday - Sept. 10, at 12:00 at First Baptist Church, 267 N. Mills, Ave., Lodi, CA. Burial will be at Cherokee Memorial Cemetery in Lodi.
We thank you in advance for being sensitive to the needs of the family.
We appreciate all your prayers and support during these most difficult of times.
Together we will get through this and your love and condolences are greatly appreciated.
The family has set up a memorial fund to help pay for the cost of the funeral.

Norman Glenn "Norm" Ezell

On May 8, 2010, Norm Ezell stepped into the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Norm was born on October 7, 1941 in Chelsea, Alabama, and then moved with his family to Albuquerque, New Mexico, where he spent the majority of his younger years.
In high school, he excelled in sports and as a senior was selected to New Mexico All State Football team as a wide receiver.
After his senior year, Norm attended Southeastern University in Durant, OK, on a football scholarship, where he also earned a bachelor's degree in history.
It was during his time at Southeastern, that Norm and four other men formed the rock band "Mutineers", and they performed in various night clubs located around the university.
They were discovered and signed to a record contract by Abnak Records, changed their names to the "Five Americans" and in the summer of 1965, released their first top forty hit "I See The Light". This was followed by a string of hits.
Then came their biggest hit, "Western Union", which sold in excess of one million records.
More top-forty hits followed until 1969, when the band broke up.
Norm moved to southern California, and played in various local night clubs.
In January of 1975, Norm met the love of his life, "Jesus Christ" and he served the Lord faithfully for the next 35 years.
He founded two churches as well as his own "Gloryland Ministries".
He produced five gospel albums and three gospel books.
In between, he spent 15 years teaching special education students for Taft, and Stockton school districts.
He was a member of Zion Christian Fellowship in Lodi, CA.
He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Clyde and Fannie Ezell and brother in-law, Jim Greeson.
He is survived by his son, Joshua Ezell; brothers, Roland (Dolly), Leonard, and Rodney (Glena) Ezell; sister, Lucile Greeson. He is also survived by many other family members, church members and friends who he loved very much.
Friends and family are invited to a viewing to be held on Thursday, May 20 at Lodi Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
A chapel service will be held on Friday, May 21, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Lodi Funeral Home with Pastor Dick Patterson officiating.
A reception to follow the memorial, at "His Place", 17238 Bruella Rd., Victor, CA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in Norm's memory to the Bank of Stockton at P.O. Box 759, 120 W. Walnut St., Lodi, CA. 95241.
Lodi Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Donald E. Woolsey
(1927 - 2011)

Donald E. Woolsey, Sr., 84, of Lodi, California, passed away at home with his family by his side on September 13, 2011.
He was born in Ione, California, on January 8, 1927.
His childhood was spent in Ione, and the family later moved to Lodi, where he attended and graduated from Lodi Union High School.
Donald joined the U.S. Navy during World War II serving as a Aviation Machinist's Mate E 2nd Class.
He then reenlisted and served during the Korean Conflict.
He met his future wife, Betty Jean Rice in Gilroy, following their marriage they established their home in Lodi.
Betty Jean passed away on March 26, 2001 following 53 years of marriage.
Donald was employed in the maintenance department at General Mills in Lodi, for 44 years, and retired in 1992.
He was a ham radio enthusiast for many years, and enjoyed talking on his ham radio to many friends all over the world.
He also enjoyed baseball, and especially watching his grandchildren play their sports activities.
He is survived by his children, Glenda Socha (Joe), Barbara Purkey, Donald Woolsey, Jr., Sharon Wise (Norman), and Randy Woolsey (Julie); 12 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, September 19, 2011, 11:00 a.m, in the Azalea Garden at Cherokee Memorial Park, Hwy 99 and Harney Lane, Lodi.
Pastor David Hill of Grace Presbyterian Church will be officiating, with the U.S. Navy Honor Guard presenting Military Honors.
The Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home is honored to serve the Woolsey Family during this time.

Marcia (Mrs. Gene) (Zelver) Tarbell
(1915 - 2011)

Born March 16, 1915 to Meyer and Rae Zelver in Oakland, California.
Predeceased by husband, Gene.
Survived by sons, Evan and Ray Jacoby, brother, Alvin Zelver and nieces and nephews.
She was a devoted and loving mother and aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She was schooled at Lodi Union High School, the University of the Pacific, the California School of Fine Arts and Rudolph Schaeffer School of Design.
Her career consisted of interior decorating and real estate management.
In addition, she was a radio broadcaster during World War II, which training she later put to use as a volunteer in recording books for the blind onto phonograph records.
She also designed stage sets for KQED Television.
She enjoyed her many trips abroad, playing bridge and was an accomplished artist.
She will be remembered for her sense of humor and beauty.
