Lydia Dean (Belloumini) Maggio
(1920 - 2011)
Lydia Dean Maggio, 91, of Lodi, California, passed away peacefully at her home on September 18, 2011.
She was born in San Francisco, California, January 19, 1920.
Part of Lydia's childhood was spent in Walnut Grove, and later moved to Lodi, where she attended Ray School and graduated from Lodi Union High School.
She married Roy Maggio in 1938 and they established their home in Lodi.
Together, they started the family business of growing, packing and selling table and wine grapes.
Roy Maggio passed away February 25, 1986 after 48 years of marriage.
Lydia enjoyed being surrounded by family, traveling with her husband, cooking, gardening, trips to Lake Tahoe, crossword puzzles and pulling the Triple 7's slot machine handle at Jackson Rancheria.
Lydia enjoyed life to the fullest and made an extraordinary impact in all our lives.
She is preceded in death by her father, Emilio Belloumini, her mother, Margaret Belloumini. Husband, Roy Maggio, sister, Emelia Kramer, son-in-law, Steve Felkins and daughter-in-law, Sheila Maggio.
Survived by her children, Rudy Maggio, (Ginger) and Jeanette Felkins. Grandchildren, Lisa Kammerer (Rob), Shelly Woltkamp (David), Kevin Felkins (Wendy) and Raquel Casity (Bryan). Great-grandchildren, Micky, Tiffany and Kelsey Kammerer, Roy and Cortny Woltkamp, Brittany, Brett, Breonna, and Briley Felkins, and Brooke, Heather and Kristen Casity. Cousin, Leon Ascheris (Twila) and Nephew, Ken Kramer (Jackie).
Also survived by step-grandchildren, Kara Newman, Brandon Newell and Chad Newell.
Visitation will be September 22, 2011 from 9am-5pm at Donahue Funeral Home, 123 N. School St. Lodi, CA.
Services will be held at St. Anne's Catholic Church, September 23, 2011 at 10am, 215 W. Walnut, Lodi, CA.
Committal will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the donor's choice.
Gloria Rott
Gloria Rott passed away peacefully in her sleep, at her home in Lodi, California, on Monday the 16th of November, 2009.
Born and raised in Charleroi, PA, Gloria met her future husband of 48 years, Ray, while living in the same apartment building in San Francisco. Soon after marrying in 1959, the couple settled in Lodi.
They raised a family, participated in the community, and met a circle of friends with whom they shared many activities and cherished lifelong friendships.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Ray, and is survived by her daughter, Kelly (and Peter) Coulombe; and her beloved grandchildren, Mike and Katie, all of San Leandro, CA.
She is also survived by her brothers, Rudy and Perry Mann; sister, Ida Harlack, and their children and grandchildren.
She will be greatly missed by the "lunch bunch, " and many other close friends.

Kenneth Ackerman
(1920 - 2011)
Kenneth Herbert Ackerman, 90, of Acampo, died April 1.
He was born June 3, 1920 in Vancouver, Wash.
Mr. Ackerman served in the U.S. Navy.
He was an elementary school teacher and a member of the English Oaks Seventh-day Adventist Church in Lodi.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Ackerman, of Acampo; sons, Craig Kenneth Ackerman, of Galt, and Gary Ray Ackerman, of Sacramento; brother, John Walter Ackerman, of the Philippines; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Harriet Ackerman, Frances Munson, Alta Ackerman, Emily Fowler, Dorothy Allen and Jean Wells; and brothers, Byron and Maurice Ackerman.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. April 30 at English Oaks Seventh-day Adventist Church.
There will be no visitation.
Committal will be private.

Harold A. Linde
Harold A. Linde, age 82, of Lodi, passed away suddenly on September 9, 2011 at Lodi Memorial Hospital.
Harold is survived by his wife, Carol and three sons, Peter, Rob and Ron Linde.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Marie Linde, and his brother, Willard Linde, and sister, Alma Ley.
He is survived by two sisters, Gladys Bauer and Alice Prudhel.
Harold served in the Army on the front line during the Korean War.
He drove a tractor for land-leveling for over 30 years until there was no more work for him.
He then worked as a custodian for Manteca Unified for 10 1/2 years and was loved and appreciated for the effort and care he put into his work and his always joyful attitude.
He retired December 31, 1998, the day before his 70th birthday.
Harold was loved by everyone who knew him because he was such a generous, thoughtful and kind person.
He was always helping others and looking out for them.
He enjoyed running and biking with friends for many years and did many fun-runs and organized bike rides of sixty miles or more.
He did the bike-ride around Lake Tahoe, twice at age 69, and then again age 70.
He faithfully did weight-resisting exercises and took many long walks.
He was just full of energy.
After retirement, he enjoyed repairing small motor equipment lawn mowers, chain saws, blowers, etc. for friends.
He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Services will be held at St. Joachim's Catholic Church on Thursday, September 22nd at 10:00 a.m., followed by reception in the hall.
Joanne Ruth (Venable) Parsons
(1934 - 2011)
Joanne Ruth Parsons passed away in her sleep Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at the age of 77 years old.
She was born April 09, 1934 in National City, California, to Thomas and Thelma Venable.
She was the third of four children.
She moved to Fresno, CA at age 2 with her family.
She grew up in Fresno and attended the Fresno Union Academy through the Eighth Grade and then Lodi Academy as a boarding student.
While JoAnne was attending Lodi Academy she met her future husband, Eldon Eugene Parsons and they were married on February 03, 1952 at the home of Thomas and Thelma Venable in Fresno.
Shortly after they were married, Eldon was drafted into the United States Marines for two years.
JoAnne and Eldon spent the first two years of their married life in San Diego and Barstow, CA.
Mark, the first of their three children was born in Victorville, CA in 1953.
JoAnne and Eldon moved to Lodi, CA in 1954.
They purchased their first and only home in 1954.
Joelle, the second child was born in Lodi in 1956 and Brent, the third child was born in Lodi, in 1964.
JoAnne has lived in Lodi for the last 57 years and in her home for 54 years.
She attended Lodi Central Seventh-Day Adventist Church then later built the new church and became the English Oaks Seventh-Day Adventist Church. She was very involved in the lower divisions at church in her younger years.
Later in life, JoAnne and Eldon transferred their membership to the Lodi Fairmont Seventh-Day Adventist Church where her children attended.
JoAnne was employed by Lodi Memorial Hospital as a Nurse's Aid and Ward Clerk at Second Center for 20 plus years.
She also enjoyed decorating the Main Lobby and Dining Room Christmas trees as well as Second Center Nurses Station for the Christmas Holiday Season for many of those 20 years.
She had many hobbies that included decorating, gardening, roses, orchids, and spending time with the family.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Eldon Parsons; sister, Lois Long of Oregon; She is survived by her brother, Lloyd (Helen) Venable of Visalia, CA; brother, Jerry Venable of Visalia, CA; son, Mark (Kathy) Parsons of Lodi, CA; daughter, Joelle (Terry) Parsons-Miller of Galt, CA; son, Brent (Robin) Parsons of Lodi, CA; and four grandchildren: Randy Rios, Lacie Parsons, Carla Rios, and Whitnie (Sterling) Evans. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2011 at 3 p.m. at the Lodi Fairmont Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Choir Room, 730 S. Fairmont Avenue, Lodi, CA.

John B. Kooyman Jr.
(1920 - 2011)
John B. Kooyman Jr., 90, of Lodi, California, passed away at home on September 15, 2011.
He was born in Fresno, California, on December 30, 1920.
John attended St. Teresa's High School in Fresno, California, and also Lodi High.
John was a member of Woodbridge Golf and Country Club for 51 years and has two hole-in-ones to his credit.
John was famous for playing the harmonica and singing the Wahbash Cannonball.
John was a resident of Lodi for 71 years. John owned and operated, with his four brothers, four dairy farms known as the Kooyman Brothers.
He also was in the vineyard and restaurant business
John was president of the American Dairy Association, the Petaluma Corporation, the Tokay Dairy Association and the St. Mary's Parent Club and Sports Club.
He was a leader of the Turner Ray and Bruella 4-H Clubs.
He was a member of the Kiwanis Club, San Joaquin Farm Bureau, Knights of Columbus, St. Anne's Church, Lodi District Grape Growers, Lodi Woodbridge Wine Commission and Woodbridge Irrigation District.
John was preceded in death by his loving wife Roberta, his son, John B. Kooyman, III, his parents, John and Bertha Kooyman, sisters, Cornelia Foster and Frances Massip, brothers, Ronald Kooyman and Thomas Kooyman.
John is survived by his sons, William (Rita) Kooyman, of Lodi, Kevin (Kay) Kooyman of Richardson, Texas. Grandchildren, Cori Kooyman of Fair Oaks, California, Louis Kooyman of Lodi and Lindsey Kooyman of Richardson, Texas. Brothers, Bernard Kooyman (Mary Ellen), of Lodi, William Kooyman (Judy), of Lodi, Alvin Kooyman (Mary Jean) of Lodi, and sister, Mary Ekas of Florence, Oregon.
A mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on September 22, 2011 at St. Anne's Catholic Church.
Committal will be private.
A celebration of John's life will be held at Woodbridge Golf and Country Club following the service.

June (Weister) Porter
(1924 - 2011)
June Porter passed away at Bethel Retirement Community, Modesto, CA. after a period of declining health on September 15, 2011.
She was a resident there since May 2009.
June was born May 12, 1924 in New Kensington, PA, the youngest of seven children to Harry S. and Ada Virginia (Smeltzer) Weister.
She graduated from New Kensington High School in 1942 and worked in the offices of Allegheny Aluminum during the war.
June lived in Mass., Ohio, and Erie, PA, working as a secretary in Mass., a reporter-photographer for the local paper in Ohio, and in retail before moving to the San Jose area in 1961 with her husband, Robert R. Porter, whom she married in 1954 and her three children.
The family later moved to the Stockton-Lodi area where she lived for thirty years.
June and Bob owned and operated the Jackson Sewing Center in Jackson, CA, for many years and later, opened a branch in downtown Stockton.
June was very active in her children's activities, always volunteering with girl scouts, school field trips, room mother responsibilities, and her son, David's and daughter, Denise's sports teams.
She enjoyed gardening, sewing, playing cards, board games, boating and camping, as well as traveling throughout the U.S. and Canada.
She was an avid Sacramento Kings fan, cheering them on in her Kings finest.
June also loved reading the Lodi Sentinel and did so daily until recently.
Her infectious laugh and love of a good time will be remembered by all who knew her.
She especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends and the many animals the family rescued throughout the years.
She was predeceased by her husband, Robert, in 1993 and her parents, two brothers and four sisters.
She is survived by her children Judith Lahti of Leominster, Mass., David LeBlanc and his wife Lynne of Klamath Falls, OR, Denise Porter of Oakdale, CA, and many nieces and nephews in PA and AZ.
She also leaves behind her "second" families, the Millers and the Kirks of Applegate and Rocklin, CA, with whom she spent many holidays and good times in recent years.
A special thank you to the caring and compassionate staffs at Bethel Assisted Living Retirement Community and Community Hospice Inc. of Modesto. They took her into their hearts and kept her happy, active, and comfortable in her final years.
Graveside services will be held at Lodi Memorial Cemetery 5750 E. Pine St. Lodi, CA, on Saturday September 24th at 10am.
Rocha's Mortuary 215 S. School St. Lodi, CA, is directing arrangements.

Ken Hitchen
(1930 - 2011)
Ken Hitchen, 81, formerly of Lodi, passed peacefully from this life on Sunday, August 28, after a long battle with pulmonary fibrosis.
Ken was born June 16, 1930 in Salford, England, to George and Rebecca Hitchen.
He grew up in a family of six brothers, George, Billy, Frank, Ronnie, Bobby, and Alan and three sisters, Amy Armstrong, Nellie King and Joan Faulkner.
He was not yet eleven years old when Germany began bombing major industrial cities during World War II, including Salford.
His youth was spent witnessing some of the terrible carnage of war, which molded his character.
He spent some time in Germany, as a soldier, after the war was over, and was also stationed in Malaya.
In 1953, he married Dorothy Parker and they spent the next 57 years together as best friends and travelling companions, until her death on March 20, 2010.
They are blessed with three surviving children, Alan Hitchen of St Louis, MO, Janice Igou of Tucson, AZ, and Linda Ruff of Montague, CA.
They left a legacy of 7 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren.
Ken and Dorothy immigrated to America in 1956, coming directly to Lodi, where his sister, Amy Armstrong, already resided.
He began working odd jobs and seasonal work pruning grapes, working in the cannery and at Super Mold.
He was hired by General Mills working as a machine operator and as a mechanic.
Not long after this Dorothy's sister, Joyce, also immigrated to Lodi with her husband, Frank Pegg.
Ken is remembered by his friends and family as a man of integrity and honor.
A hard worker, a true and loyal friend, and a faithful husband.
Ken had many hobbies including fishing, photography, traveling the country in his motor home, flying home to England, to visit with his family. He was an avid reader and loved to watch football (English soccer).
But the most important joy of his life was the relationship he had with his wife Dorothy.
The family invites any who remember Ken or Dorothy to a memorial service on Friday, Sept 23 at 3:00.
The service will be held at the Ham Lane Church of Christ, 600 S. Ham Ln.
Their son, Alan, who preaches for the Church of Christ, will officiate.
