David Alan Williams
(1949 - 2011)
David Alan Williams passed away unexpectedly on August 19, 2011 at 61 years of age.
He was born to Robert David and Beverly Ann Williams in Benton Harbor, Michigan, on October 25, 1949, the first of four children.
Dave moved to Lodi, in August 1963, when his father began a tenure as pastor of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Dave graduated from Lodi Academy in 1967 and went on to attend Pacific Union College in Angwin, CA, and La Sierra in Riverside, CA.
It was during Dave's first position as Purchasing Agent for a microfilm company in Sunnyvale, CA that he bought his first home.
He subsequently became very interested in the investment potential of real estate, and his work in real estate became a passion that continued throughout his career.
From his early youth Dave enjoyed many sports and especially relished the competition of tennis and golf.
Dave, along with his Woodbridge Golf & Country Club friends, helped establish the term 'golf-cation' a.k.a. 'man-cations', making numerous trips to Scotland, and any other golf destination they could get away with.
He spent years marshalling for the AT&T; Classic at Pebble Beach.
Also, he and his wife Kathy enjoyed many wonderful years visiting Carmel, playing golf at Spyglass, and engaging in the other fine activities of Carmel, CA.
Dave and Kathy were married at Morris Chapel in Stockton on November 25, 1979.
They made their first home in Lodi, where Kathy worked as a Dental Hygienist and encouraged him to follow his long-time dream to attend law school.
He received his Juris Doctorate degree on June 4, 1988, and she earned her PHT (Putting Hubby Through).
Dave was still very much interested in real estate and began thinking of owning his own company.
Soon Kathy put aside her dental interests and joined him in the real estate business: Dave Williams and Associates.
They have been a very successful team ever since.
Dave and Kathy have been married for 32 years and have two children, Amy and Michael.
Dave was a devoted family man and spent much of his spare time caring for the needs of their son, Michael.
He was continuously looking for ways to enhance Michael's learning abilities.
Over the years, he had strongly encouraged Amy in her pursuit of education, and was so proud when she received her Masters Degree in 2008 from University of the Pacific in Stockton.
On September 5, 2010, Dave proudly walked his daughter down the aisle in a beautiful garden wedding where Amy was joined in marriage to Chris Reeves.
Dave was a very active member of the Woodbridge Golf & Country Club, Lodi Squares Dinner Group, Eagles, Lodi Association of Realtor's, and the English Oaks Seventh-day Adventist church.
Dave's passion for investing was fulfilled by his involvement in local subdivision housing developments.
He had many unfinished plans for his family and the future.
He lived by the motto, "Take the time to do it right the first time and then you won't have to take the time to do it over again".
Everyone who knew him appreciated him for his honesty and uncompromised integrity.
He leaves to mourn his loving wife, Kathy, one daughter, Amy (Chris) Reeves of Redondo Beach, CA and one son, Michael of Lodi. Also, his parents, Robert and Ann Williams of Lodi, two brothers: Chuck (Susie) Williams of Napa; John Williams of Dallas, TX; and one sister, Marci (JR) Henley of Lodi; nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.
He will be greatly missed.
The burial will be private.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, September 3, 2011, at the English Oaks S.D.A. church at Century & Ham.
Following the service celebration will continue at the home of Dave & Kathy Williams.
