Clifford T. Preston, 72, a 44-year resident of Palo Alto, died
April 21, 1994. A native of Stockton, he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He received both his bachelor's and master's degrees from Golden Gate University. He was employed in the insurance industry for 39 years. His interests included gardening, hiking and swimming. He is survived by his wife, Maryana Preston of Palo Alto; four sons, Richard, Brian, John and Jeff Preston; a brother; and four grandchildren. Daniel A. Seedman
Daniel A. Seedman, 76, a resident of Palo Alto for more than 30 years, died
April 24, 1994. He graduated from the University of California, Berkeley and did graduate work at the University of Southern California. After pioneering research in solid rocket propellants for 10 years in Southern California, he moved to Palo Alto to work in the field of nutrition and later in the defense industry. He is survived by a daughter; a son, Eric Seedman of Palo Alto; and five grandchildren.
Joseph S. Englert Sr.
Joseph S. Englert Sr., 75, a 44-year resident of Atherton and Menlo Park area, died
May 8, 1994. He founded the J.S. Englert Co. in 1946 and was long active in the brewing supply industry. A graduate of St. Mary's College in Moraga, he served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of the Bohemian Club, the Menlo Circus Club, St. Denis Catholic Church of Menlo Park, the Beer Institute and the Master Brewers Association. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Marina Englert of Menlo Park; four sons, including Karl Englert and Mark Englert of Menlo Park and Stephen Englert of Atherton; a daughter, Melba Hoban of Menlo Park; a brother; two sisters; and 14 grandchildren. Marjean Nygren Finch
Marjean Nygren Finch, 68, a resident of Palo Alto for nearly 40 years, died
May 5, 1994. She attended San Jose State University, majored in English and was a member of Sappho, an honorary sorority. She also played the oboe with the San Jose Civic Symphony. She was a member of AAUW and was active with the El Carmelo PTA and the California Youth Symphony. She worked in the administration offices of Stanford University's Lane Library. She is survived by her husband, Richard Finch of Palo Alto; two daughters; and two sons.

Aurelia Fuller, 91, a 31-year resident of Palo Alto, died
May 9, 1994. She was a native of Capri, Italy, and worked at Valley Medical Insurance for 20 years as a clerk/typist. She is survived by two daughters, a son and three grandchildren.
Lorna Cameron Gamble
Lorna Cameron Gamble, a resident of Menlo Park, died
May 8, 1994. She is survived by her husband, Walter Gamble of Menlo Park; two sons, Scott Gamble and Donald Gamble of Menlo Park; a daughter, Jeanna Monroe of Menlo Park; a grandchild; and three step-grandchildren. Louis L. Phelps
Louis L. Phelps, 83, a resident of Atherton, died
of cancer April 29, 1994 in Palo Alto. He served for many years as a partner of the San Francisco law firm of Dunne, Phelps and Mills. He received a law degree from Stanford University and began practicing law in 1937. In 1984 he joined one of San Francisco's oldest law firms, Sullivan, Roche and Johnson, where he worked as an active senior partner. He was a member of the California State Bar Association for 57 years and of the board of governors of the State Bar for three years. He was appointed fellow by the American College of Trial Lawyers and served for more than 50 years in the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. He co-founded the National Association of Railroad Trial Counsel, where he was president for four years. He also served as a naval officer in the South Pacific during World War II. Thomas A. Sousa
Thomas A. Sousa, 75, a resident of Palo Alto, died
May 7, 1994. He was the last surviving grandchild of the late composer and band leader, John Philip Sousa. He attended the Evans School in Tucson, Ariz., and the Hun School in Princeton, N.J. After World War II, he graduated from Cal Poly and was employed in the livestock feed industry. He was past western territory manager for Dawes Laboratories. He is survived by a daughter, Antoinette Sousa of Palo Alto; and a son. Contributions may be sent to the American Cancer Society.
