Hubert H. Semans, 85, the founder and former president of Foothill College in Los Altos Hills, died
of cancer April 21, 1994 in Eugene, Ore., where he had moved in 1992. He served as the second president for Foothill College from 1967 to 1973, during student protests of U.S. involvement in the Vietnam War. He graduated from the University of Southern California with a doctorate in higher education, and served on the faculty at California Polytech. He is survived by his wife, a daughter, a son-in-law, a grandson and a step-grandson. A memorial service will be held May 21 at 4 p.m. at the Robert C. Smithwick Theatre at Foothill College. Chuck Taylor
Chuck Taylor, 74, one of the greats in Stanford athletic history, died
May 7, 1994 at Stanford Hospital. An All-American football player, head football coach and athletic director, he took part in the Rose Bowl in all those roles during his 50-year association with Stanford. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Margaret Taylor of Atherton; a son; a daughter; and seven grandchildren. A memorial service will be held May 20 at 4 p.m. at Chuck Taylor Grove, adjacent to Stanford Stadium. Anna Mae Chan
Anna Mae Chan, 82, a longtime resident of Menlo Park, died

Zenna E. Higgins
enna E. Higgins, 98, a 62-year resident of Palo Alto, died
May 17, 1994. A native of Washington, she graduated from Whitman College in Walla Walla and received training as a teacher. After moving to Palo Alto she held various jobs cooking, bookkeeping and doing secretarial work. She retired in 1964 from her secretarial position with Stanford University Women's Athletic Department. She was actively involved in the community after her retirement and gave her services to: the Downtown Children's Center, the Parent's Nursery School, Mid-Peninsula YWCA, the Palo Alto Historical Society and the Senior Center of Palo Alto. She was also a member of All Saints' Episcopal Church, AAUW writers group, North County Friendly Visitor's Service, Palo Alto Area Red Cross, Palo Alto Task Force on Aging, La Comida Nutrition Program, the Toyon Chapter of Chaparral Poets and the Palo Alto Women's Club. She is survived by a daughter, a brother, a sister, three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. A memorial service will be held May 21 at 2 p.m. at All Saints' Episcopal Church at the corner of Hamilton and Waverley in Palo Alto. June Koenig, 74, a 34-year resident of Palo Alto, died
May 14, 1994. A native of Oklahoma, she was a professor of languages at Hamlin University. She volunteered at the Stanford Gallery Bookstore. She is survived by her husband, Joseph D. Koenig of Palo Alto, and a sister.

Olga Kolokouris, 70, a resident of Menlo Park, died
April 7, 1994. A native of Greece, she was a seamstress at I. Magnin for many years. May S. Mock, 70, a 25-year resident of Palo Alto, died
May 13, 1994. A native of San Francisco, she was a florist in Palo Alto for 40 years. She was also past president of the San Francisco Florist Association. Esther E. Grow, 85, a resident of Palo Alto, died
Nov. 23, 1994 at Stanford Hospital. Born in Willmar, Minn., she graduated from the Swedish Hospital School of Nursing in Minneapolis and was a nurse at the Stanford Medical Center for 20 years. She is survived by a sister, Ansta Eaton of Palo Alto; a brother; a nephew, Leland Roger Erickson of Menlo Park; three nieces; and six grandnieces and grandnephews. A memorial service is planned for Dec. 3 at 2 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, 3149 Waverley St., Palo Alto. Contributions may be made to the church.
Ray Lyman Wilbur Jr.
Ray Lyman Wilbur Jr., 81, a longtime Hewlett-Packard Co. executive and Palo Alto civic leader, died
at his Portola Valley home Nov. 26, 1994 in his sleep. Wilbur had joined Hewlett-Packard in 1957 and worked as its director of personnel and later as vice president of human resources until his retirement in 1978. A graduate of Stanford University in 1933, he was the son of Ray Lyman Wilbur, former Stanford president. Wilbur served three terms on the Palo Alto Human Relations Commission. He was also active with the American Red Cross, Family Service Association, United Way and Palo Alto Chamber of Commerce. He was a past president of the board of directors of Children's Hospital at Stanford and a board member of the Community Foundation of Santa Clara County. He is survived by a son, Ray L. Wilbur III of Palo Alto; a daughter, Jean Gleason Stromberg; a brother, Dwight Wilbur; a sister, Lois Hopper of Palo Alto; and five grandchildren. A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Nov. 30 at the First Congregational Church of Palo Alto. The family has asked that donations be made to Stanford University or Lucile Packard Children's Hospital.
Rodman Z. Reade
Rodman Z. Reade, 79, a 40-year resident of Palo Alto, died
May 15, 1994. A World War II Army Air Corps veteran, he flew 51 combat missions on a B-24 bomber. A graduate of UCLA, he taught in the Ravenswood City School District, worked for Hewlett-Packard, and later joined the staff of Stanford University, where he worked at Hansen Labs and the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Gloria Reade of Palo Alto; two sons, including Evan and Gordon Reade of Palo Alto; and two grandsons. Elizabeth H. "Libby" Wacha, 72, a 45-year resident of Palo Alto, died
May 15, 1994. A native of Johnstown, Pa., she and her husband operated University Travel Service in downtown Palo Alto. She is survived by her husband, Edmund Wacha of Palo Alto; a daughter; two sons, Tom Wacha and Rick Wacha of Palo Alto; three grandchildren; a sister; a niece; and a nephew.
