Sept. 15, 1994 in Red Bluff. A native of Visalia, he was a certified public accountant for 35 years. From 1945 to 1955 he has was the owner of Richard Fox CPA on University Avenue. He was a member of the Palo Alto Masonic Lodge and the California Society of CPAs. He is survived by his wife, Eleanor Fox; a son, William Fox; a daughter, Gail Carpenter; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Sept. 10, 1994. Born in Yonkers, N.Y., she owned a dress shop for 50 years there. She is survived by her daughter, Nathalie Gross of Menlo Park.

ita Marie Herndon, 89, died
Aug. 20, 1994 after a long illness. She was a Bay Area resident for 55 years, and a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley and the California Teachers College. She was a retired San Francisco elementary school teacher, president of the Palo Alto Auxiliary to the Children's Hospital at Stanford, a member of the League of Women Voters and a Red Cross volunteer during World War II. She is survived by a daughter, Jeanne Silver of Menlo Park; two sons, Robert and Richard Herndon; 13 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Mary E. Hollis, 84, died

Geraldine Hunter
Geraldine Hunter, 96, a 23-year resident of Menlo Park, died
Sept. 15, 1994. A native of Williamsville, N.Y., she received a bachelor's degree from D'Youville College in Buffalo and a master's degree from Cornell University. She lived and taught in Mexico for 30 years. During World War II, she helped with the war effort with both British and American women's groups. After moving to Menlo Park, she volunteered at Willow Oaks School as a teacher's aide for English as a second language students. She is survived by two daughters, Barbara Hunter of Menlo Park and Phyllis Taylor; a son, John Bockett Hunter; two grandchildren; and a brother. Helen Bailey Maher, 75, a six-year resident of Palo Alto, died
at Stevenson House on Sept. 16, 1994. A native of Pittsubrgh, Pa., she was secretary of the Stevenson House Residents Association, a former member of the board of the Palo Alto Senior Center and a docent at Filoli. She is survived by seven children, including Susan Maher of Menlo Park and Barbara Maher and Louise Maher of Palo Alto; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Albert J. Moorman
Albert J. Moorman, 73, a 37-year resident of Atherton, died
Sept. 17, 1994 in Palo Alto. A native of St. Paul, Minn., he was the managing partner in the law firm McCutchen, Doyle, Brown and Enersen in San Francisco. He served on the boards of the American Conservatory Theater, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Menlo School and College and the Committee for Art at Stanford. He is survived by his wife, Bette Moorman of Atherton; a daughter, Lisa Fremont; a son, Mark Moorman; a sister; and three grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Menlo Park Presbyterian Church at 2 p.m. Sept. 26. The family suggests contributions to the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art for its educational programs.

Sept. 14, 1994 at Stanford Medical Center. A native of Japan, he had been at Stanford for the last six months as a visiting professor. He is survived by his wife.
Joseph E. Olexo
Joseph E. Olexo, 72, a 35-year resident of Palo Alto, died
Sept. 13, 1994 of cancer. He was a native of Cleveland and a graduate of John Carroll University. He served in the Army during World War II and was an administrator at Lockheed Missiles and Space in Sunnyvale for 30 years, until he retired in 1989. He also was a member of the Senior Center of Palo Alto, sang in the Cupertino Choraliers and was a member of the Lockheed Dinosaurs. He is survived by his wife, Frances Higgins Olexo of Palo Alto; a daughter, Nancy; a son, Michael; and three sisters. John R. Alexander Sr.
John R. Alexander Sr., 65, owner of the landmark Alpine Inn in Portola Valley, died
Sept. 15, 1994 of cancer at home in Los Altos. The 142-year-old Alpine Inn, a state landmark and a favorite watering hole for generations of Stanford students, will continue to operate under the supervision of his wife, Molly Alexander. He and a partner bought the roadhouse in 1959, and he continued working there until earlier this month. A native of Palo Alto, he graduated from San Jose State University and served in the U.S. Air Force. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, a son, his mother, a brother, and nine grandchildren. Harold Woods Christy
Harold Woods Christy M.D., 83, an 18-year resident of Palo Alto, died
Sept. 25, 1994 at Sequoia Hospital after a 20-year battle with an autoimmune condition. Born in Water Valley, Miss., he graduated from Northwestern University with a degree in medicine. A heart specialist, he taught at Northwestern Medical School and was known for his diagnostic ability. During World War II he served in the Army at May General Hospital in Galesburg, Ill. He spent four years living in Guadalajara, Mexico, a country he loved. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Kathleen Stinchfield Christy of Palo Alto; three daughters, including Susan Carey of Portola Valley; two sons; and eight grandchildren.
