George Kenyon, an aeronautical engineer at NASA and Mountain View resident, died
Dec. 1 at age 80.
Kenyon attended San Jose State, graduated in 1949, and began working at the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics, which evolved into the National Aeronautics and Space Administration in 1958. He spent nearly 30 years at NASA and was a developer of the M2-F2 Lifting Body Space re-entry research vehicle, a precursor of the Space Shuttle. The vehicle is on display at the Smithsonian Institution.
A native of Marquette, Mich., Kenyon will also be remembered as a lover of golf. He was a member of The Sunnyvale Senior Citizen's Golf Club and the Ames Golf Club.
He was predeceased by his wife Betty and sister Jacqueline Blach and is survived by children Douglas Kenyon of Morgan Hill, David Kenyon and Barbara Brown of San Jose, and Donald Kenyon of Anchorage, Alaska; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Dec. 4 at Spangler Mortuaries. Donations may be made in Kenyon's memory to the Parkinson's Institute, 1170 Morse Avenue, Sunnyvale, CA 94089-1605.

Anna Guerrero
Anna Guerrero, 99, died
in Mountain View April 8. She immigrated to the U.S. from Russia and was preceded in death by her husband John. Guerrero is survived by daughters Dorothy and Juanita; grandchildren Larry, John, and Julie; and great-grandchildren Corie, Kiely, Miles and Maile.
Services were held April 14 at the Mountain View Chapel of Spangler Mortuaries. Guerrero was interred at Alta Mesa Memorial Park.

Joseph Robley
Mountain View resident Joseph Robley, 83, died
in San Jose June 10. Robley, a native of Kauai, Hawaii, had worked as a heavy equipment operator for the City of Mountain View. He was preceded in death by his wife Maria. Robley is survived by son Joseph and daughters Rosemarie and Ruby Ann.
Vigil services were held June 16 at the Mountain View Chapel of Spangler Mortuaries, 799 Castro St. The funeral was scheduled for June 17 at St. Athanasius Catholic Church. Interment
will be at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery
in Los Altos.

Mario Ferrando
Mario Ferrando, 95, died
June 14 at the Mountain View Health Care Center. A native of San Francisco, Ferrando worked as a fuel handler at Moffett Field. He was the widower of the late Lydia Ferrando. Visitation will begin 11 a.m. June 18 at the Los Altos Chapel of Spangler Mortuaries, and funeral services are scheduled for noon at the same location.

Luciano Javier
Luciano Javier died
in Mountain View on June 19 at the age of 93. A native of the Philippines, he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and worked in maintenance at Rickey's Hyatt House and Varian Associates.
Javier was a member of the American Legion, the Filipino Catholic Federation, and a founding member of the Cabugao Association. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Iluminada, sons George and Robert, and a grandson, Owen.
Visitation was scheduled for June 23 at Cusimano Family Colonial Mortuary and the funeral was scheduled for June 24 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church. Interment
will be at Alta Mesa Memorial Park in Palo Alto.

Connie Sanchez
Connie Sanchez, a resident of Mountain View for over 60 years, died
July 3 at the age of 85. The wife of the late Frank A. Sanchez, She is survived by brother John Robles, children Frank, Rosemary, David, Michael, Linda, James, Henry and Deborah, as well as 26 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
She was interred in the Gate of Heaven Catholic Cemetery
in Los Altos.

Opal Collins
Opal Collins, a Mountain View resident for 60 years, died
Oct. 8 at the age of 90.
A native of Arkansas, she worked as a supervisor at Hewlett Packard for 35 years and opened a local preschool for children in Mountain View. Collins was also a member of the Palo Alto Elks Club.
Collins is the wife of the late Lee Collins and mother of the late Thomas (Buddy) Wood. She is survived by her daughters Angie Kelly and Marie Sheeks; sisters Gladys Hall of Redwood City and Leon Avery of El Cajon; and grandchildren Joyce Sheeks, David Wilson Jr., Karen Stickrod, Angela Summit and Albert Clifford, Jr.
Funeral services were held on Oct. 12 at the Mountain View Chapel of Spangler Mortuaries. Interment
was at Alta Mesa Memorial Park in Palo Alto.

Charles A. Tyson
A memorial service for Charles A. Tyson will be held Dec. 3 at 3 p.m. in Menlo Park at SRI International, I Building, 333 Ravenswood Ave. Tyson, a Mountain View resident, died
Oct. 24. He was 72.
Tyson is survived by his wife Noriko; daughters Elaina Hill of Hartsville, Tenn. and Corle Tyson of Oakland; granddaughter Drew Hill; and cousins Alma Agopian and Delia Kurzet of Downey, Calif.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the Thomas Tyson and Estelle Johnson Scholarship Fund for Minority Students at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Fares J. Martinez
Fares J. Martinez, a resident of Mountain View, died
Dec. 13 in his home at age 91.
A native of Colorado, Martinez was a welder for Westinghouse. He is survived by wife Lydia; son Robert; brother Carlos; grandchildren Robert, Stephanie, and Lindsey; and four great grandchildren.
A vigil was held Dec. 17 at Spangler Mortuaries in Mountain View, followed by a mass service Dec. 18 at Saint William Catholic Church in Los Altos. Martinez was interred at Gate of Heaven.

Robert W. Lewis
Former Mountain View resident Robert W. Lewis, 95, died
in Cupertino Dec. 4.
Born July 18, 1908 in Sioux City, Iowa, Lewis moved with his family to Mountain View in 1953. He retired in 1973 after 47 years in the banking business.
Lewis earned a Mountain View "Citizen of the Year" award, was active in Chamber of Commerce Mountain View, the Mountain View Community Fund and the American Red Cross, Palo Alto Area Chapter. He also served as chairman of two municipal bond campaigns in Mountain View and was a member of the Santa Clara County Grand Jury. In addition, Lewis was chairman of the regional group of the California Banker's Association and was active in the Navy League.
He is predeceased by wife Albena, as well as by daughters Irene Carey and Judy. He is survived by sons Robert Angus and Charles; daughter Katherine Munoz; 20 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Per his wishes, no formal service was held.
