Josephine Valente, a mother of six Bay Area residents with many family members in Mountain View, passed away July 23 in Santa Clara.
She was 87.
Born on June 2, 1918 in Bristol, R.I., Valente grew up with nine siblings.
Her mother instructed her in cooking gourmet Italian meals, with many of the recipes passed on by family tradition.
She moved west after marrying Vincent Valente, and took pride in entertaining family and friends in her South San Francisco home.
Valente was an avid piano player, and passed her talents on to some of her descendants.
She regularly attended church, and enjoyed live entertainment ranging from parades and classical musicals to her grandchildren's school plays.
She is survived by four sons and a daughter, Mountain View resident Margaret Renner, as well as fourteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held July 27 at St. Simon's Catholic Church in Los Altos.

Louis R. (Chip) Coffin III
Louis F. (Chip) Coffin III passed away on Dec. 30 at age 48, after a long struggle with cancer.
He is survived by wife Susan (Deane), 5-year-old daughter Samantha, parents Mary and Lou Coffin, seven siblings and their families and many friends.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. on Jan. 8 at the Menlo Park Presbyterian Church at 950 Santa Cruz Avenue in Menlo Park, and in Skaneateles, N.Y. on a date to be announced.
Donations in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society and the Pathways Home Health Care and Hospice in Mountain View.

Helen E. Conti
Helen Conti, who lived on the Peninsula for nearly half a century, died
on Sept. 14. She was 81.
Conti was a member of several Mountain View groups, including the Mountain View Senior Citizens Club, the Home Ministry Group of St. Joseph's and the Little Flower Group of the Y.L.I. in Mountain View.
She is survived by several members of the Conti family, including Tony Conti, her husband of 58 years; three children; three grandchildren; and a sister.
A memorial Mass was held on Sept. 19.

Jan E. Dupre
Jan E. Dupre, age 84, died
of metastatic breast cancer on March 8 in her home.
She is survived by her son Rick and his wife Linda, daughter Cheryl, brother George and his wife Dee, sister Lori, and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Dupre was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert J. Dupre.
She was actively involved in many organizations including the Mountain View Senior Center, El Camino Hospital Auxiliary, Mountain View Performing Arts Center, Palo Alto Elks, Shoreline Park, a women's club and others.
A memorial service is planned for April 9 at 1 p.m. at the Mountain View Senior Center.

Jon Edward Fahnanstiel
Jon Edward Fahnanstiel, a 20-year resident of Mountain View died
Feb. 20 in his home.
He was born
in Monroe, Mich. on April 23, 1944 and grew up in Saginaw, Mich.
Fahnanstiel graduated from Michigan State University in 1969 with a degree in accounting and business and moved to California the same year. He worked for Price Waterhouse Accounting firm, Castle and Cooke Inc., and several other high-tech startups as controller or chief financial officer.
Fahnanstiel is survived by his sister Kay F. Boynton and her three daughters, Colleen, Kerry and Katy Boynton.
The funeral was held on Feb. 28 at St. Simon's Catholic Church in Los Altos.
Donations can be made in lieu of flowers to St. Vincent De Paul Society, or the Mountain View-Los Altos Community Services Agency in his memory.

Margaret Vidovich
Margaret Vidovich died
on Feb. 20 in Los Altos.
The 90-year-old native of Mountain View was the executive secretary for Ferry Morse Seed Co. for 30 years.
She was also a member of the Y.L.I and the Quota Club.
Vidovich is survived by her nieces and nephew, Margaret Taylor, Susan Taylor King, Lois Vidovich and Mark Vidovich, sister-in-law, Kay Vidovich and six great-nieces and nephews.
The funeral was Feb. 24 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Mountain View.

Jean M. Allington
Jean M. Allington of Mountain View died
at the age of 54 on Jan. 31.
She was born
in Saginaw, Michigan and graduated from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
Allington's parents, Frederick and Julia Bray Allington, preceded her in death.
She is survived by brothers and sisters-in-law Edward and Kate Allington of Saginaw; Richard and Teri Cocquyt of Niagara, Wisconsin; and James and Mary Allington and William and Teresa Allington of Knoxville, Tennessee.
Allington's funeral was held at Our Lady of Peace Church in Santa Clara.
A memorial mass will be held at 9 a.m. on March 13 at St. Simon Church in Los Altos.

Helen Pachter Rutkowski
Helen Pachter Rutkowski died
Feb. 14 at the age of 87.
She was a native of Philadelphia and lived in the Bay Area since 1963.
During her 24-year career in the Navy, Rutkowski worked as an airplane mechanic and flight-simulator trainer.
She was stationed at Moffett Field during the last five years of her career, and she continued to work there as a civil servant until her retirement in 1992.
Rutkowski was preceded in death by her husband of 17 years, Arthur Rutkowski.

Elizabeth E. Stoddard
Elizabeth E. Stoddard died
Feb. 3 at the age of 82.
She was a native of Mountain View and served as the secretary for the Los Altos School District.
She was a current member of the Navy League of Santa Clara Valley and its treasurer from 1995 to 1998.
Stoddard was also a member of Quadalco and served as its president in 1958.
Stoddard is predeceased by her husband John Stoddard and survived by her children Allison and Eric Stoddard.
The memorial service was held at Mountain View Chapel of Spangler Mortuaries.

Charles Swindell Jr. of Mountain View died
