L. Yvonne Noble, known to her friends as Evie, died
at her family home in Mountain View on Nov. 20 of cancer. She was 52.
Noble was born
at Stanford and lived in Mountain View for 45 years. She is survived by her husband Philip and daughter Alicia. Memorial services will be announced at a later date.
The family requests that donations be made to the El Camino Hospital Foundation.

Norman Sokoloff
Norman Sokoloff, a distinguished orthopedic surgeon in the South Bay and at El Camino Hospital, died
Oct. 29 after a fight with leukemia. He was 59.
A Los Altos Hills resident, he kept medical offices in Sunnyvale and at El Camino Hospital. During his 25 years in the area, he was the recipient of several awards and was counted among San Jose Magazine's "Best Doctors in Silicon Valley" in 2000, 2001 and 2002. He was also a prominent advisor in the biomedical investment world in the South Bay.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Ilene; his son Bret of Memphis; daughter Cari of San Francisco; brother Joel of San Diego; sister Wilma Steinberg of New Jersey; a daughter-in-law and three grandchildren.

Guy Charles Gilman
Guy Charles Gilman, a longtime Mountain View Public Library employee and a gifted pianist, died
Oct. 10. He was 71.
Born on Dec. 20, 1933 in Plover, Wis., Gilman studied music education at the University of Wisconsin and received a master's in library science at the University of Minnesota. He later moved to the Bay Area, and served patrons of the Mountain View Public Library for 35 years. Considered the "dean of the reference desk," he was well known for his knowledge of classical music, his professionalism and his dedication to serving the public. He retired in 1990.
Gilman is survived by four sisters, five nieces, six nephews, numerous cousins in Wisconsin and California, and by many dear friends and colleagues.
Friends attended a memorial service in Redwood City on Oct. 30. At Gilman's request, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Lung Association.

Carl C. Corp
Carl Conrad Corp, a World War II veteran and 56-year resident of Mountain View, passed away peacefully at Mercy Merced Medical Center on Oct. 11.
Born in Caldwell, Kan. in 1922, Corp moved to California in 1941 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy that year. He served with distinction in the Pacific Theater for the duration of World War II, and returned to civilian life in Mountain View in 1946, where he worked as an electrician and an electrical contractor.
During his 56-year residence in Mountain View, Corp was an active member of the Junior Chamber of Commerce, the Elks Club and the Masonic Lodge. Corp was also active as an adult leader in De Molay, Boy Scouts and Sea Scouts. He moved to Merced in 2002.
Corp is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Jean Corp of Merced; two grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and by Edna Dirks of Merced. He is preceded in death by two wives, Sylvia Davis Corp and Virginia Pieslak Corp.
Funeral services were held Oct. 18, and burial services were Oct. 19 at Gate of Heaven Cemetery
in Los Altos.

Carolyn Rasch Cirimele
Carolyn Rasch Cirimele, a longtime resident of Mountain View, died
peacefully of cancer on Sept. 20, surrounded by family at her parents' home in Carmel.
Born Feb. 9, 1957, to John and Adele Rasch in Manhasset, N.Y., Cirimele spent most her childhood in New York state until her parents moved to Burlingame, during her junior year of high school. She was an exceptionally gifted student who graduated with highest honors from Burlingame High School in 1975 and went on to graduate from Cal Poly in 1980.
She and Ed Cirimele met at college and were married
from August 1980 to the time of her death. The couple lived in Mountain View for 24 years, where they raised two sons.
Cirimele had a life-long love for music, a passion she shared with her husband. From 1992-98 she was the music teacher at Peninsula School in Menlo Park. She sang and played piano, cello, accordion, guitar and upright bass in a number of bluegrass and other bands in the Bay Area. She was also a songwriter, writing and producing two solo album projects, "Looking for Ida Rose" and "Which One Is Real," and a talented visual artist
She is survived by her mother, her husband, sons Jesse and Jason Cirimele of Mountain View, sisters Claudia James and Charlene Revette of DeRuyter, N.Y., brother David Rasch of Portola Valley, brother Steven Rasch of Pacific Palisades, five nieces and five nephews.
Cirimele's ashes were scattered at sea off Pt. Lobos on Sept. 25. There will be a memorial gathering in her honor Oct. 29 at Peninsula School in Menlo Park. Bernice L. Tieso
Bernice L. "Bernie" (Sims) Tieso, a longtime resident of Mountain View and owner of Sims Shoes on Castro Street, died
peacefully on Oct. 11 in Sunnyvale at the age of 97.
A native of Mason City, Neb., Tieso and her husband, the late Charles Tieso, owned Sims Shoes for many years. She was a pioneer of the Mountain View business district who worked diligently to improve and promote business in the downtown community. She was also a member of the Quota Club of Mountain View for more than 50 years and remained active in the club until recently.
Tieso is survived by numerous nieces and nephews and many friends. She is preceded in death by 10 siblings.
Visitations were held Oct. 16 and a funeral service on Oct. 17, and she was interred at Gate of Heaven Cemetery

Dirk van Erp
Dirk van Erp, a prominent architect who served on the Mountain View Planning Commission for nearly a decade, died
at his Mountain View home on Aug. 4. He was 75.
Van Erp received a master of arts in architecture from Stanford University, and went on to practice with various distinguished firms in San Francisco, Seoul and Chicago.
He served on the Mountain View Planning Commission from 1963-71, and was also a member of the World Trade Club. He enjoyed gardening, gatherings of friends and colleagues and weekly games of dominoes.
Van Erp is survived by his wife of 53 years, Marianna van Erp, four daughters and 11 grandchildren. No memorial service is planned.

Shirley J. Kaus
Shirley Kaus, a 36-year resident of Mountain View, passed away on Jan. 23 at El Camino Hospital. She was 78.
She was born
Shirley June Strobel on June 5, 1927 in Freeport, Ill. and married
Daniel Kaus in Washington, D.C. in 1948. The couple moved to Mountain View in 1970 and lived there ever since.
During World War II, she worked for the federal government in Washington, D.C. She later worked for several years as a water resources map maker for the U.S. Geological Survey in Menlo Park.
Kaus was known to be a friendly and warm-hearted person, with a good sense of humor. She gave generously to local charity organizations.
She is survived by her husband and her son, Danek Kaus, who also lives in Mountain View, and her brother, John Strobel, who lives in Illinois. She was buried
in a private ceremony on Jan. 27 at Gate of Heaven Cemetery
in Los Altos.
