Donald E. Walker, 65, a resident of Palo Alto from 1970 to 1983, died
of cancer at his home in New Jersey on Nov. 26, 1994. He was a senior research linguist at SRI International. He is survived by his wife; three daughters; and four grandchildren. Dorothy Anne Boyd, 85, a longtime local resident, died
in Palo Alto on March 4, 1994. A retired student health manager, she had lived in Palo Alto for 20 years. A native of Ohio, she is survived by four children, seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Noel J. Carrere, 81, who worked at University French Laundry for 24 years, died
in Palo Alto on March 6, 1994. A resident of Palo Alto for 45 years, he was a native of France. He is survived by his wife, Anna Marie Carrere of Palo Alto; a daughter; two stepsons; a grandchild; and a great-grandchild. Services will be held March 12 at 2 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall, 4243 Alma St., Palo Alto.

Anna E. Silver, 97, who lived in Palo Alto from 1987 to 1990, died
March 4, 1994 in Sunnyvale after a long illness. A native of Kiev, Russia, she was raised in New Jersey and came to California in 1944. She was a real estate agent and active in charity work. She is survived by a daughter, Nanci S. Harmelin of Palo Alto; a son; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Mary E. Smith, 88, a former 40-year resident of Palo Alto, died
March 6, 1994 in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., where she had moved recently to live with a niece. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held March 11 at 11 a.m. at Alta Mesa Cemetery, 695 Arastradero Road, Palo Alto.

Nancy Bradley Spielman, 64, a 32-year resident of Menlo Park, died
at Stanford Hospital on Feb. 27, 1994. A native of Summit, N.J., she graduated from the University of California, Berkeley in 1952. She was active in the Woodside-Atherton Auxiliary to the Packard Children's Hospital and was an employee of the Menlo Park City School District. She is survived by her husband, Gene Spielman of Menlo Park; a brother; a son; three daughters, including Joan Hendershott of Menlo Park; and three grandchildren. Services will be held March 15 at 4:30 p.m. at the Holy Trinity Church in Menlo Park. Archie Bracco, 91, died
March 10, 1994 at his home in Woodside, where he had lived for 33 years. He retired in 1968 after having owned the Sutro Market in San Francisco for 46 years. A native of Italy, he is survived by his wife of 64 years, Edith Bracco of Woodside, and a son, Robert Bracco of Woodside.

Mildred Briggs, 74, owner of the Elite Letter Shop in Midtown Palo Alto for some 30 years, died
Feb. 22, 1994 at Stanford Hospital. A former business teacher, the Clovis native was a graduate of Fresno State College. She was an active member of Quota International and a life member of Concordia Chapter No. 309, Order of Eastern Star. She is survived by a stepson and several cousins. Services will be held March 17 at 4 p.m. at Roller, Hapgood & Tinney, 980 Middlefield Road, Palo Alto.

Dolores Theresa Fazzino, 62, died

Robert N. Bush
Robert N. Bush, 80, died
March 5, 1994 of heart failure at his Stanford campus home. He received his bachelor's and master's degrees from Colorado State University and his doctorate from Stanford. A specialist in secondary and higher education, he joined the Stanford faculty in 1945. He helped found both the Stanford Teacher Education Program and the Stanford Center for Research and Development in Teaching, now known as the Center for Educational Research at Stanford. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Nancy Burton Bush of Stanford; a daughter; a son; and a grandson.
