Services will be Friday for Keith Morris Cowan, who died Sunday at his home in Scotts Valley. He was 80.
Born in Salt Lake City, Mr. Cowan moved to Scotts Valley with his wife in July.
He is survived by his wife, Vera Barker; sons Richard of Soquel and Jack of Peeksill, N.Y.; daughter Marilyn of Medway, Mass.; and three grandchildren.
Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Oak Tree Villa retirement home, 100 Lockewood Lane, Scotts Valley.
Contributions are preferred to the Hospice Caring Project of Santa Cruz County.
Arrangements have been made by Santa Cruz Memorial Park and Funeral Home.

Aubrey Bartley
Services will be Saturday for Aubrey Bartley, who died Dec. 9 at his home in Scotts Valley. He was 86.
Born in Sheffield, England, Mr. Bartley lived in Santa Cruz for 50 years. He worked as a machinist for most of his life in both England and Santa Cruz. Mr. Bartley served in the British Navy during World War II.
He enjoyed square dancing and fixing things around the house. He was a member of the San Jose Shriners. He also volunteered for the California Grey Bear’s.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Bartley of Scotts Valley; son Edward Bartley of Canada; sister Laura Reilly of England; 12 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Light of Life Lutheran Church, 360 Kings Village Road, Scotts Valley.
Contributions are preferred to Valley Churches United or Disabled American Veterans.
Arrangements have been made by Benito and Azzaro Pacific Garden Chapel in Santa Cruz.

Elvira Diaz
Services are Sunday for Elvira Diaz, who died Wednesday at Dominican Hospital. She was 75.
Mrs. Diaz was born in Soledad, Durango, Mexico. She moved to Watsonville 10 years ago.
Mrs. Diaz was a homemaker. She attended the Church of the Assumption.
She is survived by her husband, Francisco Diaz of Freedom; sons Francisco, Avelardo, Jaime, Enrique and Jorge Diaz, all of Watsonville; daughters Soila Parra of Watsonville and Catalina Diaz of Castroville; sister Dolores Diaz of Mexico; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services are at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Mehl’s Colonial Chapel. Friends may call from 1-9 p.m. at the chapel.
A Mass of Christian Burial is at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Church of the Assumption. Burial will follow at Valley Cemetery.

Delmar L. Larson
No services are planned for Delmar L. Larson, who died Wednesday in Watsonville. He was 79.
Mr. Larson was born in Milbank, S.D. He had lived in Watsonville for 36 years.
Mr. Larson served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Agnes L. Larson of Watsonville; daughter, Charlene Larson; sons Steve and Dennis Larson; stepdaughters Dolores Chamberlain of Watsonville and Linda Parsons of Roseville; stepson Al Provence of Los Angeles; and brother Ken Larson of Oxnard.

Pilar Cota Lopez
Services are Sunday for Pilar Cota Lopez, who died Monday in Gilroy. She was 86.
Mrs. Lopez was born in Rosalio, Baja California. She lived in Watsonville for more than 50 years before moving to Gilroy seven years ago.
Mrs. Lopez worked for the Watsonville Cannery for several years and was a homemaker.
She enjoyed attending the Watsonville Senior Center.
She is survived by sons Eleuterio C. Lopez of Madera, Joe C. Lopez of Watsonville, Martin S. and Louis C. Lopez, both of San Jose, and John C. Lopez of Menlo Park; daughters Dolores L. Flores and Jennie Carsella, both of San Jose, Grace Valdivia of Watsonville, Mary Ann Villanueva of Prunedale, and Herlinda Lopez of Gilroy; 44 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services are at 7 p.m. Sunday at Davis Memorial Chapel in Watsonville. Friends may call from 1-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the chapel.
A Mass of Christian Burial is at 11:30 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Valley Public Cemetery.

Burt C. Kendall
Services are today for Burt C. Kendall, who died Dec. 21 from Parkinson’s disease. He was 92.
Mr. Kendall was born in San Mateo and lived in Aptos for 32 years.
He earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in engineering and business, respectively, from Stanford University. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, in the Pacific.
Mr. Kendall worked many years as an industrial engineer for Crown Zellerbach Paper Co., and held three patents for paper-manufacturing machines. He later worked in real estate with his wife, Skipper Kendall.
He enjoyed golf, was active with Boy Scouts of America, and was a member of the Rio del Mar Improvement Association. Mr. Kendall was a direct descendent of Martina Castro, of the historic Castro family of Rancho Soquel.
He is survived by daughter Candy Bernstein of Alamo; sons Wayne Kendall of Aptos, Lance Kendall of Santa Cruz, and Blair Kendall of Swainsboro, Ga.; twin brother Nat Kendall of Pebble Beach; and a nephew.
His wife, Skipper, died before him.

Evaristo M. Gomez
Services were held Thursday for Evaristo M. Gomez, who died Sunday in Greenfield. He was 35.
Mr. Gomez was born in Michoacan, Mexico. He had lived in Watsonville for more than 20 years.
Mr. Gomez was a handyman and worked at various canneries in the area. He enjoyed pets, drawing and collecting Native American cultural arts and crafts.
He is survived by daughters Crystal Gomez of San Jose and Kianna Gomez of Watsonville; stepdaughter Jenny Ornelas of Watsonville; brothers Isaias and Daniel Gomez, both of Castroville; Javier, Cesar, and Luis Gomez, all of Greenfield, and Ramon Gomez of Watsonville; sisters Andrea Smith of South Carolina, Elvia Mejia of Prunedale, Irma Gomez of Greenfield, and Maribel Trujillo of Gilroy; parents Isaias and Edelmira Gomez of Greenfield; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial is 1 p.m. today at Assumption Church in Pajaro. Burial will follow at Valley Cemetery in Watsonville.

Marguerite B. Eklund
Services will be held in Connecticut for Marguerite B. Eklund, who died Dec. 22 in Santa Cruz. She was 94.
A Connecticut native, she worked for the Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles for 37 years.
She is survived by a son, Erick Eklund of Aptos; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
