Services will be Saturday for Dale C. Hall, who died Sunday in a Watsonville convalescent hospital after a long illness. He was 85.
A native of Barren, Ore., he came to Santa Cruz County as a youngster. He had made his home in North Monterey County for the past 60 years.
He worked for many years for the county of Santa Cruz in river and water maintenance. A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army and received the following medals: European, African-Middle Eastern Theater ribbon with two bronze battle stars; American Theater Ribbon, Overseas Service Bar, Good Conduct Medal and Victory Medal.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Hall of Watsonville, daughter Deborah Glick of Coos Bay, Ore., three brothers, Don Hall of Corning, Bob Hall of Carmel and Dean Hall of Oregon; four grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
Daughter Dalene Hyatt died in 2002.
A funeral service will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Mehl’s Colonial Chapel, 222 E. Lake Ave., Watsonville. Burial will be private.

Anthony C. Gattaino
Services will be today for Anthony C. Gattaino who died Friday at Watsonville Community Hospital. He was 86.
Mr. Gattaino was born in Jacksonville, Fla., and grew up in Santa Barbara, where he graduated from Santa Barbara High School and opened the city’s first laundromat. He moved to Watsonville in 1947.
He worked for Ford’s department store in the furniture section and owned the Watsonville 391 Card Club. In later years, he worked for Sears in Capitola where he earned the title "Salesman of the Year" in 1969.
He was an avid tennis player and enjoyed playing clarinet in high school.
He was a member of the American Legion and a former Mickey Mouse Club president.
He is survived by his daughter, Sheila Carnesi of Watsonville, and sister Minnie Fabro of Santa Barbara.
His wife, Rose K. Gattaino, and brother Vincent Gattaino died before him.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. today at the Benito and Azzaro Pacific Gardens Chapel, 1050 Cayuga St., Santa Cruz.
Services and Burial are 3 p.m. today at the Santa Cruz Memorial Park, 1927 Ocean St., Santa Cruz.

Thelma L. Zuschin
Services will be Wednesday for Thelma L. Zuschin, who died Sunday at an area convalescent hospital. She was 97.
She was born and raised in Santa Cruz. She worked for Birds Eye Foods and later for Mission Linen Supply, where she retired in 1970.
She was a former member of the Eagles Lady Auxiliary and a lifetime member of Holy Cross Catholic Church.
Zuschin is survived by her daughter, Hazel Beebe, of Bend, Ore.; son, Ron Zuschin of Aptos; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; one great-great-great-grandchild; several nieces, great-nieces and nephews.
The funeral procession will leave Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. from Benito and Azzaro Pacific Gardens Chapel, 1050 Cayuga St., to Holy Cross Mission where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Seventh Avenue, Santa Cruz.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Pacific Gardens Chapel.
Memorial contributions are preferred to Holy Cross Church, 126 High St., Santa Cruz CA 95060.

Guillermina Rodriquez
Services will be Wednesday for Guillermina "Guille" Rodriquez, who died Sunday in Watsonville. She was 43.
Born in Mexico, she lived in the Santa Cruz County area for nine years.
She is survived by her parents, Octaviano and Adelaida Rodriquez of Watsonville; children Geraydo, Ricardo and Melissa Rodriguez, all of Watsonville; brothers Abelardo, Ismael and Octavio; and sisters Maria, Norma, Reina and Lupe Rodriquez, all of Watsonville.
Friends may call 2-5 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Davis Memorial Chapel, 609 Main St., Watsonville.
The rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today at Davis Memorial Chapel.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Valley Catholic Church, 2401 E. Lake Ave., Watsonville. Interment will be at Valley Public Cemetery.

Earl A. Van Dusen
Services will be Thursday for Earl A. "Van" Van Dusen, who died Sunday at Dominican Hospital after a brief illness. He was 82.
Van Dusen was a lifelong resident of Santa Cruz County and had lived in Watsonville for the past 25 years.
He was manager of Santa Cruz Lumber Co. in Boulder Creek for 33 years. He belonged to the Masonic Lodge and to the Sons of Italy. He attended St. Patrick’s Church.
Van Dusen is survived by his wife, Suzie Van Dusen of Watsonville and daughter Deborah Van Dusen of Santa Cruz.
His daughter Sandra Holt died before him.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. at St. Patrick’s Church in Watsonville. Burial will follow at Oakwood Memorial Park.
Friends may call from 1-5 p.m. Wednesday at Mehl’s Colonial Chapel, 222 E. Lake Ave. A vigil service will be 7 p.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick’s Church.

Osbaldo Esquivel Jr.
Services will be Thursday for Osbaldo "Valito" Esquivel Jr., who died Sunday at his Watsonville home. He was 51.
Esquivel had lived in Watsonville since 1968.
He was a fan of the Dallas Cowboys and loved Texas music. He worked as a forklift driver for many years at Americold Cold Storage before becoming disabled. He was a member of Valley Catholic Church.
Esquivel is survived by his wife, Yolanda, of Watsonville; sons Osbaldo III and Delio Esquivel, both of Watsonville; daughters Enid and Ana Esquivel, both of Watsonville; sisters Blanca Esquivel, Elva Esquivel and Diana Rubalcava, all of Watsonville; mother Maria Esquivel of Watsonville; three grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren.
His father, Osbaldo Esquivel Sr., and son, Oscar, died before him.
A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Mehl’s Colonial Chapel, 22 E. Lake Ave., Watsonville.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. at Valley Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Valley Cemetery.

Kay Kazuko Idemoto
Services will be Saturday for Kay Kazuko Idemoto, who died Thursday at her Freedom home after a two-year illness.
Born in Korea, she had lived in Watsonville since 1956.
Idemoto was a seamstress who worked for Colshire of California and later was self-employed at her home.
She belonged to the Watsonville Buddhist Temple and was a member of the Fujinkai organization of the temple as well as a member of the Adult Buddhist Association. She loved to play tennis and enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening.
She is survived by her husband, Akio Idemoto of Freedom; sons Jon Barry Idemoto of Las Vegas, Roger Ken Idemoto of San Diego and Michael Aki Idemoto of Los Angeles; sisters Margie Nakamura and Hiroko Kato, both of Los Angeles; and one grandchild.
A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at the Watsonville Buddhist Temple.
Cremation arrangements are by Mehl’s Colonial Chapel.

Charlotte Anderson
Services will be Saturday for Charlotte Anderson who died Thursday at Dominican Hospital. She was 78.
She was born in Fresno and lived in Santa Cruz for more than 60 years.
She was a Jehovah’s Witness.
She is survived by her sons, Gary Anderson of Ben Lomond, William Anderson of Santa Cruz, Brian Anderson of Boise, Idaho, David Anderson of Stockton; daughters Arlene LeVasser of Aptos, and Lori Vanderville of Watsonville; brothers Don Yager and Allen Yager of Fresno; and sisters Wanda Perkins of Clovis and Theda Churchwel of Fresno.
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at the Jehovah’s Witnesses Kingdom Hall, 170 Frederick St., Santa Cruz.
Arrangements are by Oakland Memorial Chapel.
