Services with military honors will be held at a later date for Victor "Vic" M. Benson, who died Tuesday in Watsonville. He was 85.
Mr. Benson was born in Oakland. He moved to Watsonville in 1970.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He worked and retired from the Carmel-based Lincoln-Connaeu Construction.
Mr. Benson enjoyed camping, painting and gardening.
He is survived by wife Janice E. Benson of Watsonville; son Royal Victor Benson of Reno, Nev.; daughter Kathleen Argust of Carson City, Nev.; stepdaughters Darlene Ida of Cameran Park, Diane Gouin of Felton, and Cathy Harms of Granby, Colo.; stepson Gary Nickerson of Lenexa, Kan.; and sister Ethel Christensen of Oakland.
Services with military honors will be held at a later date. Burial will take place at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Gustine.
Arrangements are by Davis Memorial Chapel in Watsonville.

Samuel J. ‘Jack’ Gaub
Services will be later for Samuel J. "Jack" Gaub, who died Sunday after a long illness. He was 68.
Mr. Gaub was born in Lodi and later moved to Santa Cruz, graduating from Santa Cruz High School in 1953. He served in the U.S. Navy until 1958.
He worked as a supervisor for the city of Santa Cruz, retiring after 37 years. He was a member of the Santa Cruz Elks Club and the Santa Cruz Bonsai Kai Club.
He was an avid bonsai cultivator and enjoyed NASCAR racing.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Edna Gaub of Santa Cruz; son Steve Gaub of Scotts Valley; and sister Patricia Adams of Fremont.
His twin brother, T.A. "Ted" Gaub, died before him.

Margaret A. White
Services were private for Margaret A. White, who died after a long illness July 3. She was 92.
Born in Baltimore, Md., she had lived in the Santa Cruz area for the past 11 years. Mrs. White was a longtime resident of Santa Clara County prior to moving here to be near her son.
She was marriage to Lt. Col. Archie M. White for 57 years until his death in 1995. She and her husband were accomplished ballroom dancers.
She was preceded in death by a son, Archie M. White Jr., in 1986.
She is survived by son Autumn Sun of Santa Cruz; 10 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Burial will be private in Glen Burnie, Md.
Arrangements are under the direction of Benito and Azzaro Pacific Gardens Chapel.

Genaro Garcia
Services will be Tuesday for Genaro Garcia, who died Wednesday at his Watsonville home after a brief illness. He was 72.
Born in Cueramaro, Guanajuato, Mexico, Garcia has lived in Watsonville since 1965.
Garcia was active in Cesar Chavez’s fight for fieldworkers rights. He was a member of the United Farm Workers and worked in the fields for many companies, including J.J. Crosetti and West Coast Farms.
He was a member of Assumption Church in Watsonville.
Garcia is survived by his wife of 50 years, Rufina of Watsonville; sons Margarito and Horacio of Watsonville, Sergio of Los Angeles; daughters Hortencia Alvarado and Alicia Huante, both of Watsonville, Graciela Garcia of Castroville; brothers Guillermo and Leonardo, both of Mexico; sister Beatrice Canchola of Mexico; 21 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
His sister Ramona Garcia died before him.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. today, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at 8 a.m. at Mehl’s Colonial Chapel, 222 E. Lake Ave., Watsonville.
A rosary will be recited 7 p.m. Monday at Mehl’s Colonial Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Assumption Church in Pajaro.

James William Lord
Services will be private for James William Lord, who died of cancer July 1 in Reno, Nev. He was 56.
Mr. Lord was born and raised in Selma. He lived in Scotts Valley for more than 20 years before moving to Reno three years ago.
As a member of the Air Force, he fought in Vietnam. After his service, he worked for IronWorkers Local 377. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and outdoorsman.
He is survived by his wife of 11 years, Paula Marsh, his father, August William Lord, and his sister, Patricia Lela Rodgers.

Ernie Corpus Bueno
No services will be held for Ernie Corpus Bueno, who died Wednesday in Santa Cruz. He was 98.
Mr. Bueno was born in Ilocos Sur in the Phillippine Islands, and had lived in Santa Cruz for most of his life.
He moved to the United States as a young man, and worked in agriculture until he retired at age 78. He enjoyed spending time on the beaches and wharves of the Monterey Bay and gambling trips to Reno, Nev.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Mildred Bueno of Santa Cruz; stepchildren Donald Claghorn of Florida, Andy Quitevis of Santa Cruz, Cecelia DeAnda of Fresno, Donald Quitevis of Santa Cruz and Marie Stanley of Aptos; 17 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; three great-great- grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Stepson Victor Golsh died before him.
At his request, there will be no services, and Burial at Santa Cruz Memorial Park will be private.

Frieda Marie Hagedorn
Services will be private for Frieda Marie Hagedorn, who died Wednesday at her home in Los Gatos. She was 84.
A native of Enterprise, Ore., she lived in Santa Cruz County since 1955 and was a homemaker for 59 years.
Mrs. Hagedorn is survived by sons Eric and Richard Hagedorn, both of Los Gatos; daughters Kristine Smith of Los Gatos and Karen Hagedorn of Berkeley; sisters Agatha Andrus of Canby, Ore., and Ruth Pardey of Lakewood, Wash.; and five grandchildren.
Her husband of 51 years, Harold Hagedorn, died in 1997.

Pearl Livingston
Private services have been held for Pearl Livingston, who died Friday in Santa Cruz of natural causes. She was 100.
Mrs. Livingston was born in Creston and a resident of Santa Cruz for the past 36 years. She was a homemaker for most of her life.
She enjoyed gardening and loved horses and the outdoors.
She is survived by son Phillip Livingston of Aptos and grandson Brian Livingston of Santa Clara.
Her husband, Frank Livingston, died in 1983.
