Services will be Tuesday for Dorothy Sarah Hammer, who died Saturday in Bakersfield. She was 89.
A native of Joplin, Mo., Mrs. Hammer and her husband, Francis Hammer, were rice farmers before moving to Santa Cruz in 1960. They bought land in Boulder Creek and founded the religious campground known as Camp Hammer in the Santa Cruz Mountains, complete with athletic fields, a pool and buildings on more than 80 acres. They donated the land to Twin Lakes Baptist Church in 1971.
The couple was active in the church.
She is survived by daughter Patricia Ann Oppenheim of Fairfax; son Michael Edward Hammer of San Andreas; brother David Ferguson of Stallion Springs; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
Her husband, Francis Hammer, died in 1990.
Burial services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Stockton Rural Cemetery, Stockton. She will be buried next to her husband.

Richard K. Crump
Services were last week for Richard Keith "Woody" Crump, who died Sept. 1 in Santa Cruz. He was 56.
A native of Ventura, Mr. Crump attended Anacapa Middle School and Buena High School. He enlisted in the Navy in 1966 and served as head of communications on Midway Island.
Mr. Crump loved the Santa Cruz Mountains and lived there off and on since 1970.
He enjoyed playing keyboard and could play any song he heard, his family said. He also enjoyed playing the computer golf game Hot Shots, which he and brother Roger Crump would play in the evening.
Mr. Crump was good with his hands, putting together custom cabinets and making dream catchers.
Family was important to him, especially his nieces and nephews, and he was a good listener, his family said.
He is survived by mother Danna Crump; sister Janet Crump of Redding; brothers Leonard Crump of Redding and Roger Crump of Ventura; three nieces; and seven grand-nieces and nephews. He stayed close to childhood friend David Rawls of Santa Cruz.
Services were Sept. 26 at Eagle Point National Cemetery in Oregon, where he was buried with military honors.

Adeline L. Grogan
Services will be Saturday for Adeline L. Grogan, who died Tuesday in Santa Cruz. She was 88.
A native of Revere, Mass., Mrs. Grogan had lived in Stockton and Palo Alto for many years. She lived in Santa Cruz for 29 years.
Mrs. Grogan worked with her husband at Grogan Jewelers in Palo Alto. They later moved to Santa Cruz. Most important to her was spending time with her family. She enjoyed gardening and luncheons at Cindy’s Celebrations. She attended Santa Cruz Bible Church and St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
She is survived by daughter Debi Rahe of Santa Cruz; son RollieGrogan of Soquel; sister Toni McWilliams of Palm Desert; brothers Richard Chinchiolo of Stockton and Fred Chinchiolo of Palm Springs; two granddaughters; two great-granddaughters; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her husband, George "Bart" Grogan, died in 1992, and her granddaughter Nicole Kristi Rahe died in 1997.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Santa Cruz Memorial Park Mission Chapel, 1927 Ocean St., Santa Cruz.
The family welcomes flowers, especially roses or living roses, in Mrs. Grogan’s memory. Contributions can be sent to Cindy’s Celebration, PO Box 1637, Capitola, CA 95010.

Bernadette M. Simpliciano
There will be no services for Bernadette M. Simpliciano, who died Sunday in Capitola. She was 66.
A native of Colorado, Mrs. Simpliciano had lived in Watsonville since 1955. She was an active member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses.
She is survived by husband Francisco Simpliciano of Watsonville; son Frank Simpliciano Jr. of Watsonville; daughter Corinne Simpliciano of Santa Cruz; brothers James Medina and Ray Medina, both of Caldwell, Idaho; sisters Priscilla Armenta, Lucy Armenta and Marie Atwell, all of Caldwell, Idaho; and two grandchildren.

Arlen David
There will be no services for Arlen David, who died Sept. 24 in his Ben Lomond home. He was 65.
A native of Chiloquin, Ore., Mr. David was a member of the Klamath Indian tribe. A resident of Ben Lomond since 1977, he worked as a production manager at Perkin Elmer, manufacturing component parts for the International Space Station and shuttle programs.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Sammie David of Ben Lomond; sons Chris David of Aptos, Randy David of Bayou Vista, La., and Billy Crawford of Bend, Ore.; daughters Laura Gilley of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Joyce Feigner of Talent, Ore., and LeeAnn Bracken of Pleasanton; brother Bobby David of Chiloquin, Ore.; and nine grandchildren.

Elizabeth ‘Libby’ Wiley Longworth
Services will be private for Elizabeth "Libby" Wiley Longworth, who died Monday in Watsonville. She was 86.
She is a native of Newburyport, Mass.
She is survived by daughters Nancy Karla Bulaich and Ann Elizabeth Benvenuti; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Her husband of 58 years Harold P. Longworth, died in 1995.
Services will be privately held at Los Gatos Memorial Park in San Jose.

Philip Francis Dolin
Services will be Oct. 11 for Philip Francis Dolin, who died Sept. 20 in San Mateo. He was 99.
A native of Kaupakalua, Maui, Hawaii, Mr. Dolin was a track star at St. Louis College Preparatory High School and for the Outrigger Canoe Club, both of Honolulu.
He moved to Soquel in 1970 and stayed there until earlier this year. He worked for many years at Del Monte Foods as a timekeeper and accountant. Before that, he worked for a wholesale lumber company in Oakland.
While living in Soquel, Mr. Dolin was active at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Capitola. His musical hobbies were playing the ukulele and guitar. He was also an accomplished gardener and had an extensive wood-working shop at home.
He is survived by many nieces and nephews. He was also very close to his caregivers, Marie Freitas, Ruth Valdez and Diana Ariaga of Rosie’s Home for the Aged.
His wife of 63 years, Frances Dolin, died in 1999.
Services will be 11 a.m. Oct. 11 at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 1310 Bayswater Ave., Burlingame. Burial will be private.

John L. Potter
Services will be Monday for John L. Potter, who died Tuesday in Santa Cruz. He was 58.
A Santa Cruz native, Mr. Potter attended school in the San Lorenzo Valley and graduated from Felton High School. He worked for the Wrigley company for 28 years, and retired when the factory closed in 1993.
Mr. Potter was an avid sports fan and held season tickets to San Francisco 49ers games. He and his wife also attended many Giants baseball games. He enjoyed golf and played at all the local and Monterey golf courses.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Donna Potter of Santa Cruz; son Chris Potter of West Hollywood; brother Calvin Potter of Santa Cruz; and one grandson.
Brothers Clyde Potter Jr. and Kenneth Potter and an infant sister died before him.
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at the Santa Cruz Memorial Park Funeral Home, 1927 Ocean St., Santa Cruz, followed by Burial at the Santa Cruz Memorial Park.
Friends may call 2-5 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at the Mission Chapel of the Santa Cruz Memorial Park Funeral Home.
