Services will be Nov. 2 for Carol Louise Alldis, who died Oct. 9 in her Capitola home. She was 82.
Mrs. Alldis was born and raised in Riverside. She and Harold, her husband of 62 years, were residents of Santa Cruz County for 34 years.
The pair sailed to England on the Queen Elizabeth, lived in Wales while Harold studied at Woodbrook College and lived in Mexico City for two years, as well as in Pennsylvania at the Pendle Hill Quaker Study Center.
The family then moved to Dublin, Ind., where Harold served as a Quaker minister for three years. Then, they relocated to the Santa Cruz area, where they raised their four children. While in Santa Cruz, Carol worked at the Plaza Pharmacy on Water Street and at the Resource Center for Nonviolence until her recent retirement.
Mrs. Alldis was a gifted violinist who began taking lessons at age 11. In her later years, she played with a local quartet, "The Apollonian," and with the Cabrillo Orchestra. As a talented vocalist, she performed with Senorama and SCO.
Mrs. Alldis had a religious upbringing and a deeply sympathetic, compassionate nature. She was a promoter of peace and kindness and concern for all. She will be remembered for her devotion to her family and her unfailing good humor. Each day that went by gave her the opportunity to remember to praise or uplift the spirit of another. She was an inspiration to all who knew her. She lived a full life, family members said.
She is survived by daughter Katherine Alldis; brother Hugh Williams; son Will Alldis; and four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Her husband and two of her sons died before her.
Services will be 2 p.m. Nov. 2 at the Quaker Meeting House, 225 Rooney St., Santa Cruz.

Daniel Stephen Price
Services will be Saturday for Daniel Stephen Price of Sunny Valley, Ore., who died Oct. 13 after an automobile accident. He was 35.
Mr. Price , who worked in finishing at Bentwood Furniture in Sunny Valley, was born in San Jose and raised a Catholic, attending St. Joseph Catholic School as a child in Capitola before graduating from Soquel High School.
He served in the U.S. Navy for four years and specialized in jet mechanics. He worked in construction in Modesto and Sacramento areas before moving to Sunny Valley in January to work in the furniture trade.
Price was an avid darts player and won several awards in competitions in Modesto and Reno, Nev. He loved the blues, fishing and family gatherings.
He is survived by his mother, Susanne Rose Price of Prunedale; brother Anthony Robert Price of Modesto; grandfather Stephen Tramonte of Prunedale; grandmother Carmen Price of San Jose; and five aunts, two uncles, three nephews and several cousins.
His grandmother, Birte Tramonte, and father, Larry Price , died before him.
Friends may call 3:30-5 p.m. Wednesday at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors, 612 N.W. A St., Grants Pass, Ore.
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Benito and Azzaro Pacific Gardens Chapel, 1050 Cayuga St., Santa Cruz.
Burial will follow at Soquel Cemetery, 550 Old San Jose Road, Soquel.

Samuel L. Dodson
Services will be Friday for Samuel L. Dodson, who died at his son’s home in King City Oct. 17. He was 101.
Mr. Dodson was born in Oakland. He moved to the Santa Cruz area in the 1930s. He and his brother, Jay, owned the Redwood Tavern, where the arcade at the Boardwalk is now. They also managed the restaurant at the Old Casa Del Rey Hotel and later opened the Moo-Cow Drive In in downtown Santa Cruz.
He had a second career for more than 50 years, as a real estate salesman and later as a broker and property manager for Century 21 in Felton.
His family and friends will remember his as a warm and generous person who loved the simple things in life. He had a strong commitment to youth, serving as Scoutmaster for the National Jamboree and helping organize his own Troop No. 11’s Christmas Tree Lot, which was well known for more than 25 years, earning him the honor of Scoutmaster of the Year.
He was a resident of the Felton area for more than 30 years, and was a 33 degree Mason with the San Lorenzo Valley Lodge No. 38 F&AM, a member of the Santa Cruz First United Methodist Church, the Santa Cruz Association of Realtors and the Felton Garden Club.
He is survived by sons Bruce Dodson of King City and the Rev. John L. Dodson of Felton; and five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
His wife, Helen Dodson of Santa Cruz, died in 2001. His sister Virginia Beaton and brothers Jay and Dudley Dodson died before him.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Benito and Azzaro Pacific Gardens Chapel. The Rev. Phillip C. Dodson will officiate, with San Lorenzo Valley Masonic Lodge No. 38 providing a Masonic tribute.
Private Burial will be Monday at Stockton Rural Cemetery.

Opal Allee Bible
Services will be Friday for Opal Allee Bible, who died Tuesday at her Freedom home. She was 92.
She was born in Hammon, Okla., and lived in California for 45 years. She had lived in Freedom for many years.
She worked as a checker at Smith’s grocery store for 16 years, and as a nurse and a beautician. She and her husband owned Stonehouse Rock Shop in Freedom.
She enjoyed searching for rocks, arts and crafts, quilt making and fishing.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Everett Petite "Pete" Bible of Freedom; and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Pajaro Valley Memorial Park. Friends may call 2-5 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. today at Davis Memorial Chapel, 609 Main St., Watsonville.
Contributions are preferred to the Salvation Army.

Gregory Dean Zimmerman
Services will be Saturday for Gregory Dean Zimmerman, who died from arterial sclerosis Friday in Scotts Valley. He was 47.
Mr. Zimmerman was a native of Dallas and has been a resident of Santa Cruz County for the past 11 years. He worked at Linear Technology Corp. in Milpitas.
He loved to ride motorcycles. He was an avid swimmer and enjoyed water skiing, snow skiing, dirt biking, jet skiing and was the curator of the Zimmerman Zoo, the family zoo.
He is survived by wife Kim Zimmerman of Scotts Valley; daughters Sarah Zimmerman of Gilroy and Lea Zimmerman of Scotts Valley; and sons Joshua and Brandon Zimmerman of Scotts Valley.
A memorial service is 2 p.m. Saturday at Santa Cruz Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 1927 Ocean St. Extension, Santa Cruz, CA 95060.

Adella C. Cursi
Services will be Saturday for Adella C. Cursi, who died Sunday at Dominican Hospital in Santa Cruz. She was 83.
Ms. Cursi was born in Hibbing, Minn. She came to Santa Cruz with her family at age 2, and lived in the family home her entire life. She attended local schools. After graduation, she went to work for AT&T where she spent her career, retiring in 1971.
She was member of Holy Cross Catholic Church. She enjoyed traveling with friends and family, gardening, gourmet cooking, Christmas and holiday baking, and decorating the family home for all the holiday celebrations. The children especially enjoyed visiting her home every year to see the miniature Christmas village she created in family dining room. She was know as the neighborhood "Auntie Della" for three generations of family and friends.
She is survived by brothers Atillio "Buck" Cursi of Watsonville and Marino "Lefty" Cursi of Castroville; and numerous nephews and nieces.
Her sister Mary Mugnaini and brothers Hugo, Angelo J. and Albert "Al" Cursi died before her.
A memorial Mass will be 10 a.m. Saturday in the Holy Cross Catholic Church, 126 High St., Santa Cruz. Burial will be private at Santa Cruz Memorial Park.

Thomas James Polfus
Services will be Monday for Thomas James Polfus, who died in Watsonville Oct. 21. He was 80.
Born in McCook, Neb., Polfus was a machinist and mechanic who served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
A member of the Watsonville Rod and Gun Club, he enjoyed raising cattle, gardening and bowling in a local senior league.
Polfus is survived by daughters Sharon Feuerborn of Watsonville, Connie Toohey of Watsonville and Cathy Adamson of Safford, Ariz.; brothers Orville Polfus of Northridge and Cortez Polfus of the Los Angeles area; a sister; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
His wife of 50 years, Ruby Polfus, died in 2001. His brother Delmo Polfus died in 1974 and his sister Eileen died in 1964.
Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Davis Memorial Chapel, 609 Main St., Watsonville. Burial will be 1 p.m. Monday at Pajaro Valley Memorial Park, 127 Hecker Pass Road, Watsonville.

Mary Jane Baldassar
Services will be Monday for Mary Jane Baldassar, who died Oct. 19 in Santa Cruz. She was 82.
Born in Trinidad, Colo., Baldassar attended grammar school in Santa Cruz and graduated from Santa Cruz High School in 1939. She worked as a bookkeeper at Ebert’s Market and Dried Goods Store and Ferrari Flowers, both in Santa Cruz, before retiring.
Though petite in stature, she had a big heart, according to family members. She inspired friends and family with a wonderful sense of humor, an Italian touch in the kitchen and a way with the doves and blue jays who visited her patio every day, the family said.
She is survived by sisters-in-law Helen Baldassar of San Jose and Jessie Verutti of San Juan Bautista; and 15 nieces and nephews. Her brother, Robert Baldassar, sister, Geraldine Baldassar-Ogle, and stepbrothers Val Verutti and Howard Verutti died before her.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 515 Frederick St., Santa Cruz. Luncheon will follow the services. Burial will follow in Santa Cruz Memorial Park, 1927 Ocean St., Santa Cruz.
