Services have been held for Richard Plante Jr., who died Sept. 15 in Auburn. He was 54.
Born in Massachusetts, Mr. Plante had lived in Auburn for the past eight years. Before that he lived in Santa Cruz for more than 17 years.
He was an electrical service dispatcher for PG&E for more than 20 years. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the U.S. Marine corps. He loved music and song writing.
He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Mary Duncan-Plante of Auburn; daughters Melissa Plante of Auburn and Becky Feemster of Santa Cruz; sons Rich Plante and Nick Plante, both of Pennsylvania; father Richard Plante of South Carolina; mother Alice Plante of Maryland; brothers Ron Plante of Iowa, Randy Plante of Washington, D.C., and Russ Plante of Maryland; sister Lisa Dwyer of North Carolina; and two grandchildren.

Tim Jenkins
Services will be Thursday, Oct. 2 for Tim Jenkins, who died of heart attack Wednesday in Santa Cruz. He was 50.
Mr. Jenkins, a well-known political activist and the marketing director at Ledyard Co., was the brains behind local progressive initiatives and Democratic campaigns since the late 1970s.
Jenkins came to the area in 1974 to attend UC Santa Cruz. He was a native of Winthrop, Mass., and grew up in Oroville.
He served as aide to former state Sen. Henry Mello, campaign staffer for current U.S. Rep. Sam Farr, D-Carmel, when Farr was making his run at the state Assembly, campaign strategist for county Supervisor Mardi Wormhoudt as well as Santa Cruz City Council members Mike Rotkin and Emily Reilly, to name a few.
Mr. Jenkins enjoyed going to San Francisco Giants and 49ers games, and concerts.
He is survived by his mother, Doris Jenkins, and his son, Nolan Jenkins of Aptos.
A memorial service will be Thursday, Oct. 2, 3-5 p.m. at De Laveaga Golf Course Restaurant, Upper Park Road, Santa Cruz. A brief ceremony is scheduled at 3:15 p.m.
His mother and his friends have established The Tim Jenkins Scholarship to help support future UCSC student activists. An annual scholarship will be awarded to a student who demonstrates notable commitment to practical, progressive politics and academic excellence. Mary McMillan Garcia
A celebration of life will be Tuesday for Mary McMillan Garcia, who died Sept. 21 in Los Gatos. She was 62.
A Santa Cruz native, she attended Branciforte Elementary School, Branciforte Junior High and Santa Cruz High, graduating in 1959. After graduating from San Jose State University, she taught in San Jose for 30 years.
Her family said she will be remembered for her warmth, the faithfulness of her friendship and her gaiety.
She is survived by her daughter, Christina Garcia Campbell of San Jose, brother Tom McMillan of Santa Cruz and sister Nancy Geiger of Livermore.
Her parents, Ross and Shirley McMillan, died before her.
A celebration of life will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, Highland Avenue and Mission Street, Santa Cruz. Contributions are preferred to the Breast Cancer Fund.

Dolas M. Koga
Services will be Thursday for Dolas Miyoko Koga, who died Sunday at her Watsonville home. She was 80.
A native of Morrill, Neb., Mrs. Koga attended the University of Nebraska, majoring in music and education. She also took education courses at UC Santa Cruz and San Jose State University.
She was a teacher for the Pajaro Valley Unified School District and taught at the Echo Valley and Amesti schools for 22 years.
She was a member of the Westview Presbyterian Church in Watsonville, where she was also president of the Women’s Society for many years and taught Sunday school. For 10 years she served as secretary for Watsonville’s Sister City Committee. She taught at Koko-no- Gakko, a Japanese cultural school.
She was a church organist for 60 years.
She enjoyed participating in the Japanese ceremony cha no yu, gardening and music.
She is survived by her husband, the Rev. Sumio Koga of Watsonville; sons James Kevin Koga of Japan, John Timothy Koga of New York City; daughter Jennifer Aya Koga of San Jose; brother Bill Okawaki of Mitchell, Neb.; sisters Ruby Yasui of Seattle, Anne Wysong of Honolulu and Rose Piper of Modesto; and three grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Westview Presbyterian Church of Watsonville, 118 First St. Burial will be private at the Pajaro Valley Memorial Park.

Amelia C. Henry
Services will be Thursday for Amelia Canepa Henry, who died Saturday in Capitola. She was 89.
A native of Capitola, Mrs. Henry attended Soquel Grammar School and graduated from Holy Cross High School. She worked as a secretary in Santa Cruz and San Francisco. After her marriage to Francis J. Henry, she lived in Fremont for most of her life, only returning to Capitola due to illness five years ago.
She was a member of Holy Spirit Church in Fremont. She was also an artist and enjoyed painting landscapes and seascapes.
She is survived by brothers Angelo Canepa of Santa Cruz and Ernest Canepa of Aptos; and many nieces and nephews.
Her husband, Francis "Joe" Henry, died in 1983.
Services will be 9 a.m. Thursday at Benito and Azzaro Pacific Gardens Chapel, 1050 Cayuga St., Santa Cruz. Friends may call 1 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be private at Holy Cross Mausoleum.

Eddie G. Norman
No services are planned for Eddie G. Norman, who died Wednesday in Santa Cruz. He was 62.
A native of Mangum, Okla., Mr. Norman had lived in Watsonville for about a year.
He is survived by partner Joy McCorkle of Watsonville and daughter April Dawn Norman of Tenino, Wash.

Theda Kamo
No services are planned for Theda Kamo, who died Friday at her Watsonville home. She was 59.
A native of Rockford, Ill., she moved to Santa Cruz County 23 years ago. She graduated cum laude at Boise State University and joined the VISTA program, volunteering around the country. She supervised the tutorial program at the Central Oregon Community College in 1980.
When she moved to Santa Cruz, she worked as a census taker in Santa Cruz’s rural areas. Then she served on the board of Friends of the Santa Cruz Public Libraries and managed the Friends Store at the main library.
She is survived by partner John Kurzrok of Watsonville; brother Ted Kamo Jr. of Las Vegas; sisters Myra Kamo of Turlock and Holly Kamo of Sunnyvale; husband Michael Whalen of Santa Cruz.
Contributions are preferred to Hospice Caring Project of Santa Cruz County.

Percy H. McKinley
Services will be held in Kansas City, Mo., Oct. 20 for Percy Herbert "Mac" McKinley, who died Thursday in Capitola. He was 84.
Before moving to California, he spent most of his life in Kansas City, Mo., where he had his own business as a manufacturer’s representative of electrical equipment. He graduated from Kansas State University with a degree in electrical engineering in 1942. He served in the submarine service with the Navy during World War II, volunteering to enlist even though exempt due to his critical work in the defense industry.
He had lived in Santa Cruz County for five years.
He is survived by his children Gale Laird of Boulder Creek, Janice McKinley of Redwood City, Caroline Gold of San Anselmo and Michael McKinley of Des Moines, Iowa; sister Dorothy Ford of Whittier; and granddaughters Katelyn Laird, Sierra Laird and Eleanor McKinley.
His wife of 61 years, Anna Pauline "Pat" McKinley, died June 27.
