Mrs. Davis was born in Lincoln, Neb., and moved to Santa Cruz in 1968.
She was a member of Temple Beth El.
She loved to create new recipes and sew.
She is survived by her daughter, Gail Davis; a granddaughter; and a great-grandson. Her husband, Manny Davis, died in 1998.

William J. Pennino
Services were private for William J. Pennino, who died Aug. 13. He was 60.
Mr. Pennino was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and lived in Santa Cruz County for the past 17 years. He loved to fish.
He is survived by his sons William Pennino Jr. and Robert Pennino; sisters Theresa Pennino and Lisa Pennino; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Elsie K. Hamilton
Services will be private for Elsie Kall Hamilton, who died Thursday at a local convalescent care center. She was 96.
Mrs. Hamilton was born in Dallas and moved to Watsonville 60 years ago.
She owned and operated a beauty shop on San Juan Road for 33 years.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Arnold Hamilton; two nephews; four nieces; and a sister-in-law.
Davis Memorial Chapel is arranging private services. Mrs. Hamilton will be buried at Pajaro Valley Memorial Park.

Martin Garfinkel
Services will be in November for Martin Garfinkel, who died from cancer Aug. 25. He was 72.
Mr. Garfinkel was born in Detroit moved to Aptos in 1997.
He was a Korean War Veteran. He practiced architecture in Palo Alto for more than 40 years. He graduated from Cranbrook Art Institute, in Bloomfield, Mich., and earned his master’s degree in design and engineering from University of Michigan.
He designed many houses, parks and hospitals in Palo Alto. Some of them received special mention.
Mr. Garfinkel is survived by his wife, Lila Garfinkel; sons Erik Garfinkel, Aaron Garfinkel and Ian Garfinkel; daughters Maria Garfinkel and Andrea Garfinkel; a sister; 10 grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces.
A memorial service will be Nov. 26. Santa Cruz Watsonville Cremation Service is in charge of arrangements.

William ‘Beal’ J. Kelly
Services will be Tuesday for William "Beal" J. Kelly, who died Wednesday at Dominican Hospital. He was 70.
Mr. Kelly was born in Rochester, N.Y., and moved to the Santa Cruz area 20 years ago.
He served in the Army in the Korean War. He worked for Eastman Kodak Co. in Rochester for many years and had a great love of photography and motorcycles.
He is survived by his son, Bret Kelly of Rochester, N.Y.; sister, Margaret Sterling of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; brother, Harry Kelly of Keller, Texas.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Oakwood Memorial Park Crystal Chapel, 3301 Paul Sweet Road in Santa Cruz.
Santa Cruz Memorial Park and Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Alta M. Gordon
Services have been held for Alta May Gordon, who died Aug. 23 in Santa Cruz. She was 92.
Mrs. Gordon was born in Missouri.
She was a homemaker and a 39-year county resident. She was a member of the Congregational Church of Soquel.
She is survived by her son, James Gordon; a niece; and a nephew. Her husband, Arthur Gordon, died before her.

Pollie E. Cravens
Services are Saturday for Pollie E. Cravens, who died Sunday in Watsonville. She was 95.
Mrs. Cravens was born in College City, Texas, and lived in Watsonville for 35 years. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and fishing.
She is survived by daughters Betty Cox of Weaverville and Dorothy McGinnis of Sacramento; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Graveside services are 1 p.m. Saturday at Upper Lake Cemetery in Upper Lake, Calif.
Arrangements are by Davis Memorial Chapel.

Marjorie Grace Nicol
Services are Friday for Marjorie Grace Nicol, who died Sunday at home in Capitola. She was 85.
Mrs. Nicol was born in California and was a member of Soquel Congregational Church and the Couples Club.
She was a kind neighbor, family members say, and had a great sense of humor.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Jack Nicol of Capitola; daughters, Phyllis Wagner and Ann Wagner, both of Soquel; a son, John Nicol of Capitola; a brother, Bill Roberts of Santa Clara; nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Grandchildren Gregg and Jo Ann Wagner died before her.
Graveside services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at Oakwood Memorial Park.

Leon B ‘Lee’ Weaver
Services are Thursday for Leon B "Lee" Weaver, who died Sunday in Indianapolis from injuries suffered in an auto accident nine days earlier. He was 58.
Mr. Weaver was born in Lancaster County, Penn., and lived in the Nappanee/Wakarusa area of Indiana most of his life, except for extended stays in Huntsville, Ala., and Santa Cruz, where he lived for 15 years before returning to Wakarusa two years ago.
He graduated as valedictorian of Nappanee High School and earned a bachelor’s degree from Purdue University.
Mr. Weaver worked as an aeronautical engineer for NASA before founding Weaver Aerospace in 1979.
He attended Wakarusa Missionary Church and was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Sherry Weaver of Wakarusa; a son, Michael Scott Weaver of Goshen, Ind.; a daughter, Elisha Bethelle Weaver of Fort Huachuca, Ariz.; his mother, Pauline Weaver of Nappanee; a brother, Kenneth L. Weaver of Fort Wayne, Ind.; sisters, Pauline Habegger and Connie Stichter, both of Lebanon, Penn., and Charlotte Weaver of Goshen, Ind.
His father, Isaac G. Weaver, died before him.
Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Wakarusa Missionary Church.
