Services will be Sunday for Max R. Rysdam, who died Saturday at Dominican Hospital. He was 75.
Mr. Rysdam was born in Hornick City, Iowa, and moved to Santa Cruz in 1946.
He graduated from Sloan High School in Iowa and served in the Navy during World War II and in the Air Force during the Korean conflict.
Mr. Rysdam worked at Wrigley’s and T. J. Lipton and later ran his own company, Max Rototilling Service.
He enjoyed growing vegetables, barbecuing and driving his restored Model T Ford, and he loved his cocker spaniel, Fritz.
He is survived by daughters Brenda Cervantes of Soquel and Robin Sarabia of Santa Cruz; brother Harold Rysdam of Santa Cruz; sisters Cecil Gay and Virginia Larson, both of Sloan, Iowa and Opal Pauk of Story City, Iowa; two granddaughters; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Santa Cruz Memorial Park Mission Chapel. The Rev. Paul Barton will officiate.
Contributions are preferred in his memory to the Santa Cruz Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, 2200 Seventh Ave., Santa Cruz, CA 95062.
Arrangements are by Oakwood Memorial Chapel.

Joseph V.J. ‘Joe’ Romandia
Services will be Thursday and Friday for Joseph V.J. "Joe" Romandia, who died Saturday at his Watsonville home from a sudden illness. He was 57.
Mr. Romandia was born in Watsonville.
He served in the Army during the Vietnam War era and belonged to the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Mr. Romandia worked as a die repairman for Indalex West in Watsonville.
He was a board member for Watsonville American Little League and coached from the 1970s until recently.
He also enjoyed dancing, laughing, barbecuing and creating light displays in his front yard for Halloween and Christmas.
He is survived by wife Vivian Romandia of Watsonville; daughters Victoria Monroy of Aromas and Christine Cervantes of Watsonville; brothers Edward Romandia of Salinas, Frank Romandia of Modesto and Fred Romandia of Watsonville; sisters Stella Williams of Modesto and Margie Hernandez of Watsonville; and three grandchildren.
Friends may call from 1-5 p.m. Thursday at Mehl’s Colonial Chapel, 222 E. Lake Ave., Watsonville.
A rosary service will be 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Our Lady Help of Christians Valley Church on East Lake Avenue in Watsonville.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be noon Friday at the church, followed by Burial at Valley Public Cemetery.

Sina Mae Green
Services will be Thursday for Sina Mae Green, who died Thursday in Redding. She was 99.
Mrs. Green was born in Texas and lived in Watsonville for several years before moving to Redding.
She is survived by sons Bill and Larry Everett, both of Boise, Idaho; Guy and Jerry Everett of Moore, Okla., and Jim Everett of Yuma, Ariz.; daughters Jewell Bruno of Moore, Okla., Lou Etta Bruner and Donna Collier, both of Anderson, and Edna Bercrombie and Geneva Perkins, both of Salinas; 30 grandchildren; and many great- and great-great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 6-9 p.m. today and from 8-10 a.m. Thursday at Davis Memorial Chapel, 609 Main St., Watsonville.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Pajaro Valley Memorial Park on Highway 152 East in Watsonville.

Lucille Koetters
Services will be today for Lucille Koetters, who died Saturday in her Santa Cruz home. She was 95.
Mrs. Koetters was born in Rock Island, Ill. She lived in Ottowa, Ill., until moving to California at age 15 and then lived in the Los Angeles area for many years before moving to Dominican Oaks in Santa Cruz in 1993.
Mrs. Koetters was an accomplished pianist who studied music at the University of Southern California. She loved to play at family gatherings, accompanied in song by her husband, Bert.
She was an active Catholic and volunteered for St. John of God in Los Angeles.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Bert Koetters of Santa Cruz; daughters Virginia Anderson of Aptos and Mary Lou Hoffman of Glendale; son Thomas Koetters of Glendale; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. today at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 435 Monterey Ave., Capitola.
Private family Burial services will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Los Angeles.

David William Mizuno
Services will be Saturday for David William Mizuno, who died Saturday in Santa Cruz from a sudden illness. He was 46.
Mr. Mizuno was born in Minnesota and lived in Scotts Valley for 12 years.
He was a former IBM employee who designed and built prototype printing components. He also built race cars.
Mr. Mizuno enjoyed jazz and was an avid videographer and photographer. He was a member of the Monterey Bay Aquarium Association.
He is survived by son Marshall Mizuno of St. Paul, Minn.; sisters Ellen Voeller of Minneapolis and Jeanne Kays of San Jose; and his longtime companion, Cheryl Mercurio of Ben Lomond.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Oakwood Memorial Chapel, 3301 Paul Sweet Road, Santa Cruz.
Contributions are preferred to a favorite charity.

Juana O. Veloz
Services will be Monday for Juana O. Veloz, who died Sunday in Watsonville Community Hospital. She was 58.
Mrs. Veloz was born in Jalisco, Mexico, and lived in Watsonville for 22 years.
She was a homemaker who enjoyed sewing, cooking and spending time with her family.
She is survived by mother Maria de Jesus Bernal of Mexico; sons Felipe, Jaime and Ricardo Veloz, all of Watsonville; daughter Sara Veloz of Watsonville; brothers Gilbert, Adolfo, Reynaldo, Manuel, Arturo and Ruben Osorio, all of Watsonville; sister Eva Osorio of Watsonville; and one grandchild.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday and from 1-4 and 6-9 p.m. Sunday at Davis Memorial Chapel, 609 Main St., Watsonville.
A vigil service will be 7 p.m. Sunday at the chapel.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:30 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.
Burial will follow at Valley Public Cemetery.

Penelope Lois ‘Pene’ Boyd
Services will be Saturday for Penelope Lois "Pene" Boyd, who died of cancer Monday at Dominican Hospital. She was 51.
Mrs. Boyd was born in Franklin, N.H., and raised in Plymouth, N.H. She lived in Scotts Valley for 16 years and in Aptos previously.
Mrs. Boyd attended St. Mary’s in the Mountain School in New Hampshire, Katharine Gibbs School in Boston and, briefly, a school in Milan, Italy.
Mrs. Boyd worked as a purchasing manager for Lantis Corp.
She enjoyed skiing, home decorating, gardening and caring for her grandchildren, and was a member of Twin Lakes Church.
She is survived by husband Bruce Boyd of Scotts Valley; daughter Alexis Boyd of Scottsdale, Ariz.; stepdaughters Cynthia Boyd of Monterey, Patricia Boyd of Las Vegas and Angela Boyd of Scotts Valley; stepson Anthony Boyd of San Jose; parents Berenice and Sam Hall of Plymouth, N.H.; brothers Keith, Gardner and Steven of New Hampshire; and four grandchildren.
Services will be 3 p.m. Saturday at St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church, 2500 Soquel Ave., Santa Cruz.
