Services will be Monday for Virginia Fendorf, who died Tuesday at Dominican Hospital after a long battle with cancer. She was 69.
Ms. Fendorf was born in San Francisco. She had lived in Santa Cruz since 1960.
Ms. Fendorf graduated from UC Berkeley, where she was a member of the Sigma Kappa sorority. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Capitola.
She is survived by husband Kenneth Fendorf of Aptos; sons Scott Fendorf of Stanford, Dale Fendorf of Capitola; and sister Jeannette O’Neil of Coulterville.
Her son Mark Fendorf died in 1997.
Friends may call 4-8 p.m. Sunday at Benito and Azzaro’s Pacific Gardens Chapel, 1050 Cayuga St., Santa Cruz.
Services will be at 9 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 435 Monterey Ave., Capitola. Burial will be in Oakwood Memorial Park on Paul Sweet Road.

Curtis George Stege
Services will be Tuesday for Curtis George Stege, who died Feb. 6. He was 22.
Mr. Stege was born in Spokane, Wash., and grew up in Palo Alto. He attended Cabrillo Community College.
Family members say Stege had a lifelong passion for theater and was active in many stage productions.
Stege is survived by his mother, Kathy Babcock of Palo Alto; father, Gerald Stege of Spokane, Wash.; grandparents Warren and Edna Payne of Golden, Colo.; and grandmother Beth Stege of Spokane.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Palo Alto Children’s Theatre, 1305 Middlefield Road, Palto Alto.
Donations are preferred to the Friends of the Palo Alto’s Children’s Theatre.

William Wayne Kleinsmith
Services will be Saturday for William Kleinsmith, who died Monday in Santa Cruz after a long illness. He was 76.
Mr. Kleinsmith was born in Bucoda, Wash. He worked as a commercial fishermen out of Santa Cruz for 25 years.
He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II, operated a construction company that built the first road up Mount Umunhum in San Jose and was a lifelong member of the Freedom chapter of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He is survived by wife, Angie Kleinsmith of Santa Cruz; son, Joe Kleinsmith of Santa Cruz; daughters Billie Ann Washburn of Monte Vista, Colo., and Sharon Cebrian of Sacramento; sister Phyllis Underwood of Reedsport, Ore.; brother Donald Kleinsmith of Eugene, Ore.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 1-7 p.m. at Oakwood Memorial Park Chapel, 3301 Paul Sweet Road.
Services are at 2 p.m. Saturday at Oakwood Chapel.

Orval E. Smoot
Services will be Friday for Orval E. Smoot, who died Tuesday at his Watsonville home. He was 91.
Mr. Smoot was born in Oklahoma and moved to Salinas in 1936 and then to Watsonville in 1950.
He drove buses for the Pajaro Valley Unified School District for 21 years and was a scoutmaster and a lifelong member of the PTA at E.A. Hall Middle School.
Mr. Smoot was a member of First Baptist Church of Watsonville and enjoyed hunting, fishing and travel-trailer trips with his wife.
He is survived by his wife of more than 60 years, Lucille Smoot of Watsonville; son Dean Smoot of Alabama; daughter Christine Cressman of Hacienda Heights; brothers Elmer Smoot of Post Falls, Idaho; and Marvin "Herschel" Smoot of Newport, Ore.; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
His daughter Frances Sanders Hall died in 1983.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Mehl’s Chapel.
Mr. Smoot will be buried at Pajaro Valley Memorial Park.

Maria del Refugio Ayon
Services will be Friday for Maria del Refugio Ayon, who died Feb. 9 at Stanford Hospital. She was 78.
Mrs. Ayon was born in San Marco, Jalisco, Mexico, and lived in Watsonville since 1968. She was active in area Catholic churches, including St. Patrick’s in Watsonville, Assumption in Pajaro and Resurrection in Aptos.
She is survived by sons Maximiliano Ayon of Mexico, and Gregorio, Jose, Roberto and Gustine Ayon, all of Watsonville; daughters Maria de la Luz Rowley of Reedley and Maria de Jesus Martinez of Watsonville; 17 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

A vigil and rosary service will be 7 p.m. Thursday at Mehl’s Chapel.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Pioneer Cemetery.

Beverly Earlene Landschoot
Services will be Friday for Beverly Earlene Landschoot, who died Sunday at Natividad Medical Center in Salinas. She was 61.
Mrs. Landschoot was born in Bakersfield and lived in Santa Cruz County for 50 years. She loved her grandchildren, growing roses and collecting clocks and wall pockets, family members say.
Mrs. Landschoot is survived by her former husband, William Francis Landschoot of Pebble Beach; son Brian Keith Landschoot of Salinas; daughter Kimberly Landschoot of Aptos; brother Danny Lacy of Watsonville; two grandchildren; one nephew; and one niece.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Pajaro Valley Memorial Park.

Patricia J. Hibbard
Services will be Sunday for Patricia J. Hibbard, who died of heart failure Wednesday at Watsonville Community Hospital. She was 72.
She had been a resident of Santa Cruz County since 1968, and worked for Del Mar Cleaners in Capitola for 19 years. Her hobbies were reading and mystery movies. She enjoyed spending time with her cat.
She is survived by daughters Deborah M. Hibbard of Aptos and Karen Lee Hibbard, a native of California; and many cousins.
She was close to her cousin, Elizabeth A. Sousa of Mill Valley.
Her husband of 46 years, John J. Hibbard, died in 1994. Her companion of three years, Richard B. Dutton, died in 1999.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. March 3 at Oakwood Memorial Park on Paul Sweet Road in Santa Cruz.

Charles E. Wilcoxon
Services will be Friday for Charles E. Wilcoxon, who died Friday at his home in Aptos. He was 80.
Mr. Wilcoxon was born in Sedan, Kan., and was a retired lieutenant colonel who served 26 years in the U.S. Air Force. He flew 42 missions over the South Pacific, his wife said.
Mr. Wilcoxon owned a contracting business for 17 years in Watsonville and also worked as a flight instructor at the Watsonville Airport.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Watsonville, the San Jose Shrine Club and the local chapter of the Quiet Birdman.
Mr. Wilcoxon is survived by his wife of 58 years, Jewell Wilcoxon of Aptos; a son, Larry Wilcoxon of Visalia and a daughter, Shyrl Smiley of San Jose; two grandsons and two granddaughters.
Services with full military honors will be 1 p.m. Friday at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery, 32053 West McCabe Road, Gustine.
