Jean M. Fullerton
Services will be Thursday for Jean Michelle Fullerton, who died Aug. 17. She was 51.
Mrs. Fullerton was born in Los Angeles and lived in Santa Cruz County for 24 years.
She enjoyed gardening, cooking and baking. She won awards at the Santa Cruz County Fair for bread and cakes she baked.
She is survived by her father, Dale Reich of Watsonville; two uncles; and three aunts. Her mother, Jeanne Chandler, died in June.
Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Aromas Bible Church, 263 Carpenteria Road in Aromas.
Contributions are preferred to the Watsonville Community Hospital.
Davis Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Henry L. Wempe
Services will be Monday for Henry L. Wempe, who died Tuesday at a local convalescent hospital. He was 85.
Mr. Wempe was born in Fairbanks, Alaska., to a family who moved there during the Gold Rush. He had lived in Watsonville for 75 years.
He was a member of Holy Eucharist Roman Catholic Church in Corralitos and a past member of the Knights of Columbus, Elks Lodge, Lions Club and ICF. He was also a founding member of the Hub Club trailer group.
He and his wife, Lillian Wempe, operated El Pajaro Gardens Florist Shop in Watsonville for years. He also worked for F.W. Birbeck and Co. and in food processing plants such as Frank S. Oliver and Watsonville Canning.
He loved to grow vegetables in his garden and to share the bounty.
Mr. Wempe is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lillian Wempe; son Henry J. Wempe of Watsonville; daughter Teri Wempe of Watsonville; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Calling hours will be 1-5 p.m. Sunday at Mehl’s Colonial Chapel. Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Holy Eucharist Church. Burial will follow at Pajaro Valley Memorial Park.
Contributions are preferred to St. Francis Central Coast Catholic High School, PO Box 2649, Watsonville, CA 95077-2649; or to Moreland Notre Dame School, 133 Brennan St., Watsonville, CA 95076; or to Holy Eucharist Catholic Church Building Fund, 527 Corralitos Road, Corralitos, CA 95076.

Ann M. Kuberski
Services will be planned in Oregon for Ann M. Kuberski, who died Aug. 13 in Grants Pass, Ore. She was 77.
Mrs. Kuberski was born in Poland, raised in Nice, France, and moved to Santa Cruz in 1956.
As a young woman during World War II, she was active in the French Resistance movement. She immigrated to New York in 1949.
She taught French and lived in many parts of the world, including Guam, Libya, Panama, Haiti, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. She loved to travel, and cherished her worldwide friendships.
Mrs. Kuberski is survived by her husband, Frank Kuberski; son Steve Kuberski of Seattle; daughters Maggie Gecsey of Ashland, Ore., and Alina Lombardo of Santa Cruz; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be in Oregon.
Contributions are preferred to a favorite charity.

Diane Licursi
Services will be private for Diane Licursi, who died Wednesday in Felton. She was 53.
Ms. Licursi was born in San Jose and lived in Santa Cruz for 35 years.
She graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in San Jose and from Cabrillo College. She worked for Community Connection in Santa Cruz and later for Ross stores on River Street. She enjoyed gardening, photography and traveling with her parents.
She is survived by her parents, Florence and Joseph Licursi of Felton; brother John Licursi of Gilroy; an uncle; and many cousins.
Santa Cruz Memorial Park is in charge of arrangements. She will be buried at the Taber family plot at Santa Cruz Memorial Park.
Contributions are preferred to American Cancer Society, 209 Walnut Ave., Santa Cruz, CA 95061; or to Hospice Caring Project, 6851 Soquel Drive, Aptos, CA 95003.

Mary A. Sanchez
Services will be Monday for Mary Alvarez Sanchez, who died Tuesday at a local hospital. She was 68.
Mrs. Sanchez was born in Goodyear, Ariz., and lived in Aptos for 39 years.
She enjoyed camping, gardening, and going to Reno. She loved her dogs and collected Holstein cow memorabilia.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph M. Sanchez of Aptos; sons Ted Sanchez of Royal Oaks, Joseph Sanchez of the Central Valley, and Jack and Angel Sanchez, both of Watsonville; daughters Dorothy Healey of Santa Cruz and Carmen Gross of Watsonville; sister Chavela Molina of Avendale, Ariz.; and 11 grandchildren.
Calling hours are 6-9 p.m. Sunday at Davis Memorial Chapel, 609 Main St., Watsonville. A vigil will be at 7 p.m. Sunday at the chapel. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Valley Public Cemetery.

Jean C. Knight
Services will be private for Jean C. Knight, who died Aug. 16 at Dominican Hospital. She was 78.
Mrs. Knight was born in Iowa and moved to Santa Cruz in 1960.
She was an accomplished classical and jazz organist and pianist, and worked many years in the recording and show businesses, including radio and television. She performed on the bandstand at the Boardwalk, and retired from teaching elementary school in Santa Cruz in 1979.
She also played for many area churches, including San Agustin Catholic, Calvary Episcopal, Trinity Presbyterian and others. She will be remembered for playing the organ at funerals and memorials for those who died of AIDS.
She was a member of Calvary Episcopal Church and had served as a deacon for Trinity Presbyterian Church. She was a member of the California Teachers Association and the ACLU. A lifelong Democrat, she was a member of the Women’s Democratic Club.
She is survived by her son, Thomas Knight of Modesto; daughters Jeannette Logue of San Bruno and Lynne Knight of Fremont; sister Jacqueline Masterson of Kapolei, Hawaii; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a nephew; and a cousin.
Contributions are preferred to the Salvation Army, 721 Laurel St., Santa Cruz, CA 95060; the Santa Cruz AIDS Project, PO Box 557, Santa Cruz, CA 95061; or the Association for Macular Diseases Inc., 210 E. 64th St., New York, NY 10021.

Lidia Guzman
Services will be Sunday for Lidia "Grandma La Hipa" Guzman, who died Tuesday in Watsonville. She was 60.
Mrs. Guzman was born in Mission, Texas, and lived in Watsonville for 40 years.
She enjoyed cooking and playing bingo and cards. She ran a local card club years ago in Watsonville.
She is survived by son Marshall Jaurigi of Watsonville; daughters Rolene Escobar, Laura Garcia and Elizabeth Garcia, all of Watsonville, and Jessica Garcia of Santa Monica; brother Lencho Aguilar of Fresno; sister Juanita Hinojosa of Texas and Maria Elena Hinojosa of Chicago; and nine grandchildren.
Her husband, Raymond "Grandpa" Jaurigi, died in 1997.
Calling hours are 1-9 p.m. Sunday at Mehl’s Colonial Chapel. The rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday at Mehl’s. A Mass of Christian Burial will 10 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Pioneer Cemetery.

Edith M. Lorence
Services will be Sept. 1 for Edith M. Lorence, who died Sunday at Santa Cruz Convalescent Hospital. She was 96.
Mrs. Lorence was born in Santa Clara and moved to Santa Cruz in 1957.
She attended Santa Clara High School and Heald Business College in San Jose. She worked at Bariteau’s Laundry in San Jose for 20 years, and was a member of Holy Cross Parish.
Mrs. Lorence is survived by her daughters, Kathleen Reedy of Santa Cruz, Bernice Lorence of Santa Cruz, and Marilyn Jacopi of Sunnyvale; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Her grandson, Mark Alsip, and sister, Emily Thompson, died before her.
Services will be 10 a.m. Sept. 1 at Holy Cross Mission.
