MOUNT SHASTA -- Services for Philip Morris Mattos, 77, of Mount Shasta will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Mount Shasta.
The Rev. Aidan O'Reilly of the church will officiate.
Burial will be at Mount Shasta Memorial Park.
Mr. Mattos died Sunday, April 25, 1999, at Mercy Care Center in Mount Shasta.
Born Jan. 27, 1922, in Los Angeles, he moved to Siskiyou County in 1939 from Castella.
He owned Phil's Men's Wear in Mount Shasta for 15 years, was a U.S. Navy veteran serving in World War II, a Siskiyou County supervisor for 12 years, member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Mount Shasta and the Sons in Retirement in Mount Shasta.
Survivors include wife Katherine; daughters Katherine Mello of Fort Jones, Lynelle Flannery of Dunsmuir and Annette Magee of Redding; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Arrangements are being handled by Mount Shasta Memorial Chapel in Mount Shasta.
James Herrington
REDDING -- James Alton Herrington, 75, of Redding died Sunday, April 25, 1999, at his residence.
Private family services will be conducted.
Born Jan. 22, 1924, in Vincent, Ala., he moved to Shasta County in 1951 from Alabama.
He was a clerk for several Safeway stores in Redding, U.S. Navy veteran serving in World War II and the Korean War, member and past president of the Retail Clerks Union in Redding and member of the Redding Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include wife Shirley; sons James of Sacramento, Randal of Redding and Damon of Elmira, Ore.; daughter Adrienne Yeadon of Redding; sister Maud Baker of Talladega, Ala.; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Arrangements are being handled by Lawncrest Funeral Chapel in Redding.
Beryl ''Frenchie'' LaVette
ANDERSON -- Beryl ''Frenchie'' Otto LaVette, 86, of Anderson died Tuesday, April 27, 1999, at Rehab Specialities Inn in Anderson.
No services will be conducted.
Born Sept. 1, 1912, in North Dakota, he moved to Shasta County in 1993 from Paradise.
He was an electrician, a member of Paradise Elks Lodge and the Golden Gloves champion for the state of Nevada in 1930.
Survivors include sons Roy of Cottonwood, Lee of Willows and Barry of Red Bluff; nine grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are being handled by Hoyt-Cole Chapel of the Flowers in Red Bluff.
Opal Fish
REDDING -- Services for Opal Nancy Fish, 87, of Redding will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Allen & Dahl Funeral Chapel in Anderson.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday at Allen & Dahl Funeral Chapel in Anderson.
Burial will be at Anderson District Cemetery.
Mrs. Fish died Monday, April 26, 1999, at Mercy Medical Center in Redding.
Born July 30, 1911, in Oklahoma, she moved to Shasta County in 1943 from Ringling, Okla.
She formerly was a cook at Beverly Health and Rehabilitation Center and Mercy Medical Center, both in Redding and a member of Shasta Baptist Church in Redding.
Survivors include sons Bill of Oakdale, Bob of Ringling and Derrel of Redding; daughters Nancy Castaneda of Redding, Elizabeth Voncille-Kenyon of Concord and Joy Whitworth of North Highlands; sister Stella Wright of Redding; 30 grandchildren; 59 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

Maryann Bryan
REDDING -- Graveside services for Maryann Lucille Bryan, 57, of Redding will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Redding Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Lawncrest Funeral Chapel in Redding.
Mrs. Bryan died Monday, April 26, 1999, at her residence following a long illness.
Born June 10, 1941, she moved to Shasta County in 1981 from Reno, Nev.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include husband Larry; sons Paul Gilyard and Pete Gilyard, both of Lexington, N.C., and Scott Stokes of Wahiawa, Hawaii; stepson John Bryan of Texarkana, Texas; daughters Deborah Williams, Donna Chinn and Susie Stokes, all of Redding; stepdaughters Marie Sherrick of Redding and Cindy Johnson of Reno; brother Steve Guillmette of Hartford, Conn.; mother Eleanor Guillmette of Hartford; and 15 grandchildren.

Mrs. Brooks died Monday, Sept. 20, 1999, at Applewood Inn care center in Redding.
Born Jan. 27, 1911, in Carbon Hill, Ala., she moved to Shasta County in 1958 from San Francisco.
She was a bus driver for Greyhound Bus Lines in San Francisco.
Survivors include son Larry of Tulsa, Okla.; daughter Izora Burns of Eureka; brother Al Sides of Redding, sister Lois Lupperger of Greenville, S.C.; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Curtis Shada
REDDING - Curtis Elton Shada, 58, of Redding died Monday, Sept. 20, 1999, after a fall at Shasta Paper Products in Anderson.
Private family services will be conducted.
Born Nov. 12, 1940, in Minnesota, he moved to Shasta County in 1976 from Fontana.
He was a millwright for Shasta Paper Products.
Survivors include wife Janet, daughters Christine Allen of Redding, Sheila Petitt of Redding and Tricia of Redding; brothers Forrest of Boise, Idaho, and Duane of Missouri; sister Kathy Michaels of Bloomington; and three grandchildren.
