ANDERSON - Walter Jerry Howard, 67, of Anderson died Friday, Feb. 25, 2000, at his residence.
Private family services will be conducted.
Born Oct. 28, 1932, in Jonesboro, La., he moved to Shasta County in 1996 from Arizona.
He was an owner and operator of a grocery store in Wenden, Ariz., and a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include wife Lillian; sons Jerry of Dixon and Steven of Redding; daughters Cindy Wertz of Anderson and Sheila Osborn of Redding; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are being handled by Allen & Dahl Funeral Chapel in Redding.
Thelma Ashe
FALL RIVER MILLS - Graveside services for Thelma Georgia Ashe, 88, of Fall River Mills will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Fall River Mills Cemetery.
The Rev. Mac McKee of Community United Methodist Church in Fall River Mills will officiate.
Mrs. Ashe died Friday, Feb. 25, 2000, at Mayers Memorial Hospital in Fall River Mills.
Born May 20, 1911, in Dana, she was a lifelong resident of Shasta County.
She was a custodian at Fall River Elementary School and a member of the Wayside Garden Club.
Survivors include sons Paul and Kenneth, both of Fall River Mills, and George of McArthur; daughters Ruth Knoch of Fall River Mills and Mary Ellen Totten of Susanville; brothers Jim Brewster and Bob Brewster, both of Dana, and Earl Brewster of Pensacola, Fla.; sisters Dorothy Gerig of Bieber and Delores Brewster of Dana; 17 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Soldier Mountain Volunteer Fire Department, Fall River Mills, CA 96028.

Mitchell Fagan
SAN JOSE - Memorial services for former Redding resident Mitchell J. Fagan, 42, of San Jose will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Valley Community Church, 1721 Dry Creek Road in San Jose.
Mr. Fagan died Thursday, March 23, 2000, at his residence.
Born May 4, 1957, in Newark, he lived in Redding for three years.

BURNEY - LaVerne Jackson, 73, of Burney died Tuesday, March 28, 2000, at Mayers Memorial Hospital in Fall River Mills.

Born April 18, 1926, in Cordell, Okla., she moved to Shasta County in 1983 from Tulare.
She was a bookkeeper for Dairymans Co-Op Creamery in Tulare.
Survivors include son Stephen of Bieber; sister Callie Fan of Oklahoma City; and two grandchildren.
Arrangements are being handled by McDonald's Burney Chapel.
Harriet Pevehouse
OLD STATION - A memorial service for Harriet Lelloene Pevehouse, 83, of Old Station will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Pevehouse residence in Old Station.
Mrs. Pevehouse died Wednesday, March 29, 2000, at Canyonwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Redding.
Born April 28, 1916, in Cookville, Tenn., she moved to Shasta County in 1976 from Covina.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ in West Covina.
Survivors include husband Orie; sons Orland of Placerville and Donald of Old Station; daughters Debbie Sirna of Folsom and Cora Jacobson of Glendora; sisters Ila, Pauline Winter, and Wilmolene Golden, all of Ada, Okla.; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, and numerous grandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren.

MOUNT SHASTA - Services for Lea Hikka Achey, 80, of Mount Shasta will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Mount Shasta Memorial Chapel in Mount Shasta.
The Rev. Stan Terry of First Baptist Church will officiate.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral chapel.
Mrs. Achey died Thursday, Nov. 25, 1999, at Mercy Care Center in Mount Shasta.
Born Jan. 5, 1919, in Valkeala, Finland, she moved to Siskiyou County this year from Discovery Bay.
She was a real estate investor.
Survivors include husband James; son Bob Westgard of Mount Shasta; and two grandchildren.

Roberta Conrad
REDDING - Services for Roberta B. Conrad, 86, of Redding will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at McDonald's Redding Chapel.
Mrs. Conrad died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 1999, at Redding Medical Center.
Born Dec. 3, 1912, in Dixon, Ill., she moved to Shasta County in 1994 from Cherry Valley.
She was a homemaker and a member of PEO Women's Organization Redding Chapter and the Redding Newcomers.
Survivors include son Steven of Danville; daughter Cindy Huntington of Redding; sisters Lois Palmer of Redlands, Anne Dawson of Portland, Ore., Ruth Brewer of Laguna Hills, Lida Geddes of Camarillo and Edwina Fergueson of Fairfield; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
