Dwayne Edward Harris
Dwayne Edward Harris died Monday, July 28, 2003 in Sacramento, Ca., at the age of 43.
Born on Sept. 13, 1959 to Hillary and Geraldine Harris, Dwayne was born and raised in Woodland and was part of the Woodland High School graduating class of 1978. Dwayne was a local businessman, the owner/operator of Harris Is Handyman Service and Cheaper One Landscaping. Baptized into Christ, Dwayne was a faithful member of the West Sacramento Church of Christ. Dwayne was a loving husband, father, son, brother and a friend to many. He was known for his generosity and small acts of kindness to friends and strangers alike. Besides his business and church commitments, Dwayne was an avid "do-it-yourself er", frequently doing remodeling, automotive and small engine repair work. A great sports fan, he loved the Lakers and Giants, swimming and kite flying. In the last few years, Dwayne pursued an interest in go-kart racing.
Survivors include his wife, Valerie and their daughter Corinne of Sacramento; daughter Akeyshia of Vallejo, Ca.; his mother Geraldine Harris of Woodland; brother Warren King of Oak Park, IL; sister Jo Ann Harris of Sacramento; brother Anthony (Tony) Harris of Woodland; brother Bryce Harris of Alta Dena, Ca; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at McNary's Chapel, 458 College St. in Woodland, on Sunday, Aug. 3 from 5 to 8 p.m. Memorial services will be held on Monday, August 4 at the Church of Christ, 470 Kentucky Avenue in Woodland, beginning at 2 p.m. Interment at Monument Hill Cemetery will follow the service. A celebration of Dwayne's life will be held for family and friends at the church, following the interment. Food and refreshments will be served.
BELL
Thora May Bell
Thora May Bell died at Sierra Health Care Convalescent Hospital Nov. 1, 2004, of Alzheimer's disease. She was 94.
Born May 19, 1910, in St. Paul, Minn., to Abram and Louise Alford, she was one of seven children. She lived in both St. Paul and White Bear Lake, Minn., for the majority of her life. She marriage Walter Erickson and they had a son.
After the death of her husband in 1961, she marriage Lee Bell, who died in the 1980s. She later marriage Clarence DePonty, who died in the 1990s. In 1995, she came to Davis due to health reasons and to be close to family. She resided at Memory House until she had to move to Sierra Health Care Convalescent Hospital. She will be missed by family and all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Carl and Jesse Alford, and by her sister, Claire.
She is survived by her son, Glen Erickson and his wife Barbara of Davis; Bob Bell of Texas; and Marlene Bell and Fred DePonty of St. Paul, Minn.
She is further survived by her grandchildren, Michael Erickson and his wife Pam of Knight's Landing, Daniel Erickson of Chico, Stephen Erickson of Oakland, and Dee Coughlin and her husband Tim and their daughter Katelyn of Sacramento. Also surviving are her sisters, Thelma Baker and Sue Meyer of Glendale; and her brother, Glen Alford of Hemet.
At the request of the family, no services are scheduled at this time. A private burial will take place at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in St. Paul at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Davis Funeral Chapel.
BELLETTI
Mary Caroline Louise Belletti
Mary Caroline Louise Belletti died in Woodland Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2003, at age 75.
Born April 21, 1927, in Ventura, Mrs. Belletti had been a Yolo County resident for six years. She resided in Red Bluff for 51 years. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her sons, Tom Wells and wife Linda of Seiad Valley, Steve Belletti and wife Joyce of Woodland, Mark Belletti and wife Connie of Anderson; daughters, Toni Cherry of Redding, Roseanne Smith and husband Booker of Richmond; brothers, Robert Burruss and wife Ebby of Happy Valley, and Fred Burruss and wife Thelma of Livingston, Texas; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Joseph Belletti.
The family requests memorials be directed to Make a Wish Foundation. Arrangements are under the direction of McNary's Chapel of Woodland.
Services: Visitation is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 4, 2003, at Chapel of the Flowers, Red Bluff, with a graveside service at 2 p.m. at Oakhill Cemetery, Red Bluff. Burial will follow the service at Oakhill Cemetery, Red Bluff.
ROLEWICZ
Robert H. Rolewicz
Robert H. Rolewicz died suddenly on Nov. 10, 2005, from complications of diabetes. He was 47.
Friends are invited to gather from 2 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Rolewicz home, 1532 Lemon Lane.
Born to Henry and Shirley Rolewicz on Jan. 17, 1958, in Bucks County, Pa., he moved with his parents to Palo Alto in 1959 and to Davis in 1965, where he attended area schools.
He worked for The Word Factory as a printer, and later as plant maintenance mechanic for Disco Jet and Super Trap.
His family said he enjoyed skiing, salmon fishing with his father and backpacking in the Sierras, Wyoming Rockies and Siskiyou Mountains. He was described as an excellent auto mechanic and someone who was willing to help anyone.
In addition to his parents, he leaves two brothers, Bill Rolewicz of Davis and Jim Rolewicz of Silver Bay, Minn.; two nephews, Gary Rolewicz of Hollywood and William Rolewicz of Davis; and a niece, Daesha Rolewicz of Olympia, Wash.
ROLLINS
Raymond Bailey Rollins
Raymond Bailey Rollins died on Dec. 11, 2002. Born Feb. 24, 1936, he was 66 years old.
After serving his country in the U.S. Marine Corps, he graduated from UC Davis in 1961 with a degree in agronomy. He was employed at the the Davis Municipal Golf Course, where he enjoyed the sunrise and observing the wildlife while maintaining the course.
A lifelong resident of California, he was happiest outdoors sharing his knowledge of plants and animals.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Rollins of Davis; his son, Roderick Rollins and his wife Julie of Tulare; and his daughter, Yvonne Rollins of Denver.
An open gathering of friends will be held Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. at Stonegate Country Clubhouse, 919 Lake Blvd.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Progress Ranch for Boys in Davis or Stanford Home for Children in Sacramento.
STAATS
Irma W. Staats
Irma W. Staats died July 6, 2001. Born April 20, 1912, in Copenhagen, Denmark, she was 89.
She came to the United States in 1930 and settled in Salt Lake City. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
She met and marriage Frank Staats in 1935. They were marriage for 45 years before he died in 1980. She enjoyed being a homemaker and loved her family. As a young girl, her dreams were to come to America, and to be a wife and a mother.
She is survived by her children, Richard Staats and his wife, Bernadette, of Los Angeles; Charlene Spint and her husband, Tom, of LaPine, Ore.; Robert Staats and his wife, Loretta, of Reno, Nev.; and Susan Blaine and her husband, George, of Davis. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A family service was held in Los Altos. Her interment was at Inglewood Park Cemetery in Inglewood.
FOY
William Daniel Foy
William Daniel Foy died at his daughter's Oregon City residence Monday, Aug. 23, 2004 at age 63. Born Oct. 15, 1940 in Woodland to Harold Foy and Fern Rominger Foy, he had been a resident of Yolo County for 63 years. Bill attended and graduated from the UC Davis and was the Animal Resources Manager at the UCD Veterinary School where he retired with 30 years of service.
Bill loved to hike and travel with his beloved Donna, "the boss, " who passed away in 1998 and whom he is now reunited with in heaven. They were well-known and loved Oregon State Parks volunteers, serving as camp hosts and homemade clam chowder providers. One of Bill's favorite pastimes and places was fishing in Hat Creek and camp hosting in the Mount Lassen National Forest in Northern California.
Mr. Foy is survived by his daughters, Christine Ayers and husband Rob of Corvallis, Ore. and Noelle Foy of Oregon City, Ore.; stepchildren Rose Zezotarski of Sacramento, Joe Gwerder and wife Valerie of Woodland, John Gwerder and wife Cathy of Arbuckle and 15 grandchildren all of California. He is also survived by his sister Judith Foy of Nevada City, brother Stephen Foy and wife Marie of Eureka, and brother Dennis Foy of Helena, Mont., and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 24 at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Esparto. Private inurnment to follow at Capay Cemetery.
