Douglas Finn
Douglas Finn of Davis died of natural causes on Aug. 14, 2005. He was 62.
He worked for many years as a stagehand specializing in sound production at the San Francisco Opera House, at the Erwin Center in Austin, Texas, on movies, television shows and at smaller venues.
He will be remembered for his love of fishing and fine art, his affection for animals and for his sense of humor.
He is survived by his son, Aron Finn of Bedford, Texas; his sister, Pat Ernst and her husband Ralph of Davis; his niece, Marian (Navin) Cohen of El Dorado Hills; his nephew, John Navin of Lake Stevens, Wash.; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews residing in the San Francisco Bay Area.
The family will hold private interment on Friday at Mountain View Cemetery in Oakland.
Remembrances can be made to Our Faith Lutheran Church or a charity of the donor's choice.
WALLACE
Laurence Arthur Wallace
Laurence Arthur Wallace died at the Woodland Clinic on Monday, Jan. 23, 2006 at age 77.
Mr. Wallace was born May 14, 1928 in Woodland. He was a life-long Woodland resident. He graduated from Woodland High School. He was an operating engineer and a farmer for more than 60 years. He was a member of the Yolo Volunteer Fire Department and the Woodland Elks Club.
Survivors include Mr. Wallace's wife of 59 years, Wilma Storz Wallace; his daughter, Linda Wallace; his son, Ken Wallace; his grandchildren, Johnny and Richie Gunter and Amie Wallace; his great-grandchildren, Colton, Carston and Cody Gunter; and his sister, Marleen Wallace, all of Woodland. He was preceded in death by his parents, Miner and Fern Wallace.
Services: Respecting the wishes of Mr. Wallace, private graveside services were held. Kraft Bros. Funeral Directors assisted the family with arrangements.
GREENHOW
Barnette E. Greenhow
Napa man dies from shotgun blast
Barnette Elsworth Greenhow, Jr., 39, of Napa, died in Sutter Davis Hospital last Thursday afternoon from what authorities said was a self-inflicted shotgun wound in the chest.
He had been staying with his sister, Mary Catherine Radcliffe, on Abbey Street, and shortly afternoon Thursday, while she was sleeping on the couch, she heard a gun go off and went to Barnette's room, where she found him on the bed with chest wounds and a 16-gauge shotgun nearby.
She called 911, and police and ambulance arrived. Barnette was rushed to Sutter Davis Hospital where he died.
No funeral services are planned.

GREGG
Lucille "Lucy" Gregg
Lucille "Lucy" Gregg died at Woodland Memorial Hospital on Sunday, July 14, 2002, at the age of 70. Born on Oct. 27, 1931, in Dickinson, N.D., to Rose (Emil) and Harry Ehrmantraut, Mrs. Gregg had been a resident of Dunnigan since 1990.
Family members reported that Mrs. Gregg enjoyed reading extensively and was active with the Women's Auxiliary of Woodland Memorial Hospital. She also enjoyed walking. Mrs. Gregg is survived by her husband of 53 years William "Bill" Gregg. She also leaves four daughters, Sandy and her husband Art Self of Winters, Cindy and her husband Marty Aubrey of Wilton, Pamella and her husband Joe Craven of Dixon, and Lory and her husband Jim Hunter of Woodland.
Mrs. Gregg also leaves 10 grandchildren, Will Self, Tara, Jodi, Gregg and Annie Aubrey, Elias and Zeke Gregg, Cody and Hattie Rose Craven, Channan and her husband Steven Anchondo; as well as seven great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Gregg is also survived by sister and brother-in-law, Bernie and Jim Welch, brother and sister-in-law, Doug and Mary Ehrmantraut; as well as by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 17, at the Zamora Catholic Church celebrated by Father Joe Huong. Contributions may be sent to St. Paul's Catholic Church, P.O. Box 176, Knights Landing, 95645.

HILL
William James Hill
To give them beauty for ashes, the oil of Joy for mourning.
During this Holy Christmas Season Jim Hill was called home to be with his Lord. He went with gladness of heart and great Joy. We who were blessed by the fullness of his years will surely miss him. May the Lord give us beauty for our ashes, and oil of Joy for our mourning. He and Betty walked hand and hand for 55 years.
Mr. Hill passed away on Dec. 3, 1999 at his Woodland residence. Born on Sept. 26, 1921 in Oklahoma, he was 78 years old.
Mr. Hill enjoyed fishing and he was a member of the Victory Full Gospel Church in West Sacramento.
Mr. Hill is survived by his wife of 55 years, Betty Ruth Hill of Woodland; son, Randall W. "Smokey" Hill Sr. of Woodland; daughters, Claudia Ann Squires and her husband, Dave, of Woodland, and Billie Louise Kvamme and her husband, Douglas, of West Sacramento; favorite niece, Marie Morris of Alex, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Randall W. Hill Jr. of Southern California, Carl Miller of Sacramento, Patricia Condon of Plymouth, Craig Kvamme of Woodland, Tamara Cotham of Washington, Elizabeth Willbanks of Livermore, Joseph Feirel of Sacramento, Mathew Squires of Woodland, Jimmy Lee Cotham of Modesto, and Justin W. Shepherd stationed in Japan; 11 great-grandchildren, including John Cotham, who he adopted, and numerous other nieces and nephews in Oklahoma.
Visitation was at Kraft Bros. Chapel, on Monday, Dec. 6, from 1-5 p.m.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Dec. 7, at 11 a.m. at Kraft Bros. Chapel, in Woodland, Interment followed at the Woodland Cemetery.

HILLIS
Howard W. Hillis
Howard Wiley Hillis died at Sutter Davis Hospital on May 16, 2000. Born in Madison, Ind., on Oct. 7, 1911, to the late Archie and Grace Hillis, he was 88.
He was a resident of Woodland for 21 years before moving to Davis 2 1/2 years ago. He served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He graduated from the University of Indiana with a B.S. degree in chemistry and worked for DuPont Co. for 31 years, retiring in 1976.
He is survived by his daughters, Melinda Hillis of San Jose and Molly Hillis of Davis, and his son, John Hillis of Davis. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Cynthia Nelson of Oakland, David Nelson of Novato, Wendy and Mathew Hillis, and Ashley, Cory and Whitney Hillis, all of Davis. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Hillis, in 1996.
A memorial service is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Davis Community Church, 412 C St.

GRIFFIN
Eleanore Y. Griffin
Eleanore Y. Griffin died at Woodland Memorial Hospital Saturday, Oct. 9, 2004 at age 62.
Mrs. Griffin was born March 19, 1942 in Havana, N.D. and had been a Yolo County resident for more than 25 years. She was a volunteer for Yolo Hospice.
Survivors include Mrs. Griffin¹s sisters, Janice Johnson and Carole Warrick of Oroville and Mary Amos of Placerville and her brothers Ed Lyons of Knights Landing and Wallace Lyons. She was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, James R. Griffin.
