Elizabeth Dorethea Hunziker Hoffmann
Elizabeth Dorethea Hunziker Hoffmann died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2004, at her residence in Woodland. She was born in Pomeroy, Ohio, Dec. 31, 1916 and was 87 years of age. Her parents were the late Rev. C.H.S. Hunziker and Lucy Arras Hunziker. She attended elementary school in Prospect, Ohio and high school in Anaheim, Ca., junior college at Fullerton Junior College, and graduated from U.C.L.A. with a major in Music. She taught choral music at Anaheim Union High School.
In 1945 she marriage Rev. Elmer Hoffmann who served congregations in Powellsville, Ohio, Stockton, Bellflower, and Woodland where they served for 23 years. In each congregation that her husband served, Elizabeth was active in the music program of the church, serving in various positions as organist, junior and senior choir director as well as Bible study leader and speaker at women's retreats. She taught piano, organ and voice for many years and gave many Organ recitals and concerts in various churches. Elizabeth was President of Minister's Wives Fellowship of Woodland that met regularly, and sponsored many inter church musicales. She will be remembered for her emphasis upon music, a major art of her life in bringing joy, satisfaction and inspiration and also an important out let of her Christian Faith.
The Hoffmann's had three children who survive, that attended Woodland schools and were active in music and drama productions of the schools. Norman Hoffmann and his wife Jean of Monterey, Miriam Hoffmann of Truckee and Rev. Gregory Hoffmann and his wife Cindy of San Diego. Grandchildren are Sean and his wife Michelle of Yardley, Pa., Brian and his wife April of Santa Barbara, Nathaniel of Azusa Pacific University, and Garrett and Melyssa of San Diego. Also surviving are a sister-in-law, Mary Heinze of Stockton and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Rev. Elmer Hoffmann, Nov. 7, 2003.
A visitation will be held Monday, Feb. 2, 2004, 6 to 8 p.m. at McNary's Chapel. Funeral services will be in the American Lutheran Church, 1114 College St., Woodland, Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2004 at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery.
Family would prefer memorials in form of donations to the American Lutheran Church Missions; or the American Cancer Society.

HOGUE
Dorma Lee Hogue
Dorma Lee Hogue died unexpectedly in her Woodland home Saturday, Nov. 9, 2002, at age 72.
Born June 17, 1930, in Oklahoma, Mrs. Hogue was the daughter of Jess and Margaret (Howard) Jenkins. She had a Woodland resident for 40 years. According to her family members, "she enjoyed bingo and trips to Reno as well as her family and friends."
Mrs. Hogue is survived by her daughters, Joyce Johnson, Margaret Brown and husband Phil; and son, Gary Hogue, all of Woodland.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Leann Martinelli and husband Tony, Brenda Johnson and Jason Brown and Kristen, all of Woodland, Gary Ray Hogue Jr., Devan Hogue and Boo Hogue, all of Idaho; great-grandchildren, Dakota and Carissa Martinelli, Trinity Brown, all of Woodland, and Juan Brown of Idaho; sisters, Irene Coffee, Dutch and husband Clyde Austin of Firebaugh, Anita and husband Rip van Winkle, Mary and husband Harry Yubanks of Modesto, Peggy and husband Melvin Hicks of Santa clara; brother, Frank Jenkins of Modesto; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Hogue was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Hogue, in 1955; sister, Alamae Bryant; and brother, Jack Jenkins.
Respecting the wishes of Mrs. Hogue, no services are scheduled.

Frances Holguin
Frances Holguin died Sunday, Dec. 12 at age 71.
Mrs. Holguin was born March 11, 1933 in Nicholas to the late Francisco and Anita Perez. She had been a life-long Yolo County resident. She was employed as a nurse's aide.
Survivors include Mrs. Holguin's children, Alfonso Holguin Jr., Christine Mancilla and her husband Alfred, Sylvia Guerrero and her husband Severo, Lydia Reyes, Frances Nichols and her husband Jeff, all of Woodland; her grandchildren, Sheryl Johnson and her husband Ty of Marysville, Xavier Reyes, Alfonso Holguin Jr. IV, Severo and Frank Guerrero, Anthony and Robert Holguin, Zake and Ivan Nichols; great-grandchildren, Hannah, Quinn and Kyle Johnson, Anthony Guerrero, Monica Holguin, all of Woodland; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfonso Holguin; her sister, Carmen and her brothers, Tony, Manuel and Pete.

Services: A vigil is scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 15 at McNary's Chapel, 458 College St., Woodland. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 16 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 301 Walnut St., Woodland. McNary's Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
HOLLAND
Elma Grace (Harling) Holland
Elma Grace (Harling) Holland died Nov. 23, 2005, in Woodland. She was 87 years old.
Born Sept. 6, 1918, in Maxwell, she lived in Colusa at the time of her death. She was a Yolo County resident for 85 years.
Her grandson Todd Holland will officiate at her funeral at 10 a.m. Saturday at McNary's Chapel, 458 College St. in Woodland. Burial will follow.
She attended Sacramento City College, where she received her licensed vocational nursing license, and worked as an LVN at Yolo General Hospital and Woodland Memorial Hospital. She was active in the PTA, Native Daughters of the Golden West, and was a faithful leader for Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts.
She is survived by her daughter, Margaret Holland of Colusa; sons, Terry Holland and his wife Sharyn of Elk Grove and John Holland and his wife Doreen of Sacramento; two brothers, Jess Harling of Sacramento and Lloyd Harling of Woodland; three grandchildren, Todd Holland and his wife Kim of Tarlington, Texas, Denise Holland of Folsom and Nicole Goering of Martinez; and three great-grandchildren.
HOLLMAN
Gerald A. Hollman
Gerald A. Hollman died unexpectedly at Woodland Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2002. He had lived in Robbins, for the past 12 years. He was born May 3, 1945, in Vallejo, to William E. and June Marie (Estes) Hollman, both of whom survive him.
Mr. Hollman had recently retired and was spending time with his family. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and loved playing horseshoes, according to his family. Earlier in life he had enjoyed playing softball and continued to have a great love of "all sports."
Mr. Hollman is survived by his wife of 35 years, Linda L. (Lara) Hollman of Robbins, and his daughters, Patricia and Dianna Hollman of Woodland.
Also surviving are his grandchildren Kenny Hollman, Kali and Ashley Thacker and Alexis and Monique Hackett, all of Woodland; sisters Cleo Kane of Redding, Penny Polete and husband Loran of Woodland, and Carolyn Maher, of Red Bluff; his parents, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service is scheduled for 2 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 31, at Kraft Bros. Chapel, 175 Second St., Woodland. Friends and family members are invited to attend. Pastor Walter Zeck of the New Testament Church of Woodland will be officiating. No visitation is scheduled prior to the service. Private interment will be held at a later date.

HOLMES
Agnes Thomson Holmes (1st of 2 obits.)
Agnes Holmes entered Life Eternal on Sunday, July 10, 2005 at Stollwood Convalescent Hospital. Previously she had been a resident of the Personal Care Unit at St. John's Retirement Village in Woodland.
Agnes Holmes was born in Titaguhr, India, the third child of Dr. Shirley Smith Thomson, M.D. and Mr. James Thomson, a Scottish businessman. Her three siblings James F.P. Thomson, Helen T. Throne, and Charles A.H. Thomson preceded her to their eternal lives.
During WW I, the family moved from India to Michigan, and from there to Whittier. She graduated from Whittier High School in 1928. In September of that year she entered Pomona College, where she majored in French and Music. She graduated Cum Laude with the class of 1932. Some of her fondest memories include the time she spent at Pomona College, where singing in the Glee Club was a favorite activity.
In 1934 she marriage Manley L. Holmes and moved to Claremont. They had four children. Diana H. Napper of Woodland, Frances Weigand of Pomona, Stuart A. Holmes of Claremont and Frederick T. Holmes of Truckee survive their parents. A stepson, Donald L. Homes and a grandson, Nathan Weigand preceded her. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren. Many more nieces and nephews complete her family circle.
A consummate musician, it was said she could sing before she could talk. She will be remembered as a soloist and choir member both at the Claremont Church and St. John's Church in Woodland.
After the death of her husband in 1950, she returned to the Claremont Colleges, working as a secretary in what is now Pendleton Business Office. In 1958 she began a teaching career in Huntington Beach. A dedicated educator, she taught both French and business subjects at Bolsa Grande High School. In 1969 she obtained her master's degree at California State University, Fullerton.
After retiring from teaching, she returned to the Claremont Colleges serving as secretary to Jay Doty at Bridges Auditorium. Subsequently she retired again, and moved to Woodland to be closer to her daughter Diana. She spent the remainder of her life as an active member of the community. She shared her love of music and teaching as a volunteer tutor at Whitehead School for 14 years, and at Freeman School for three years. Her musical talent was shared as she played piano during the lunches at the Senior Center and as she entertained at each of the rest homes in Woodland and the Adult Care Center. A dedicated member of St. John's Church, she served in the choir, as an accompanist for the junior choir and a member of the Lifesavers. She was a volunteer at St. John's Retirement Village for 15 years.
A memorial service will be held in Woodland at St. John's Church UCC on Sunday, July 17 at 3 p.m. A Southern California memorial service will be held in Kingman Chapel of the Claremont United Church of Christ Congregational on Saturday, July 30 at 9:30 a.m. Committal will follow in the Columbarium there.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to the Agnes T. Holmes Memorial Fund at St. John's Retirement Village, Woodland or the Gideons International.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 16 years, Manley Lorainne Holmes; her stepson, Donald L. Homes; her grandson, Nathan Weigand; her parents, Shirley and James Thomson; and her siblings, James F.P. Thomson, Helen T. Throne, and Charles A.H. Thomson.
