Gorda Ott Hoobyar
Gorda Ott Hoobyar passed away on Sept. 16, 2004, after an extended illness.
Gorda was born on Feb. 9, 1914 in Cashmere, Washington, to John and Anna Ott.
She moved with her family to Live Oak, in 1918. Gorda graduated from Mt. Zion Hospital's nurses training program in 1935 as a registered nurse.
Her career culminated after 22 years working the student health center at San Francisco State University, from which she retired.
Gorda and her husband of 67 years, David Hoobyar, retired to the Winters area in 1979, residing at Pardehsa Acres.
She was accomplished in handicrafts, including knitting, weaving, needlepoint and sewing and was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker in addition to her professional career.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, David; two children Corrinne Baker and Paul Hoobyar; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Gorda's life will be held on Oct. 16, at the Pioneer Presbyterian Church.
Family and friends are invited to attend.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Gorda's name may be made to the Pioneer Presbyterian Church, 205 Russell Street, Winters, CA 95694, or to the charity of the donor's choice.

Ruth Bay Hoobyar died on Monday, Jan. 26, 2004 at age 92.
Born May 13, 1911, Mrs. Hoobyar was a graduate of U.O.P. class of 1933. She taught school in Woodland and Oakland Ca. for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband John Manly Hoobyar.
The family requests memorials be directed to visiting nurses Assoc/Hospice Emeryville, Ca.
Arrangements are under the direction of Albert Brown Mortuary in Oakland.

HOOD
Carol Ann Hood
Carol Ann Hood of Sedona, Ariz. died Tuesday, July 30, 2002, at age 60.
Born May 30, 1942, in Glendale, Mrs. Hood was a resident of Gulf Breeze, Fla., before moving to Sedona. Later, she moved to Temple City and received her education. According to her family members, "she was an accomplished artist in all mediums, having continued her art education at many colleges and universities and with well-known artists. Her work was exhibited nationally in more than 300 shows and she was the recipient of many awards in sculpture, painting and jewelry making. Her love of horses, animals and nature, along with her humor and sensitivity, were reflected in her art work."
Mrs. Hood is survived by her husband of 42 years, Ben Hood of Sedona, Ariz.; son, Nathan Hood and wife Leslie of Tucson, Ariz.; grandchildren, Rachel and Bryce Hood; mother, Dorothy Kilburn of Woodland; and sister, Susan Jorgensen and husband Larry of Esparto.
She was preceded in death by her father, John Kilburn in 1990.
Respecting the wishes of Mrs. Hood no services are scheduled.

HOOKER
Joseph F. Hooker
Joseph F. Hooker died following a complications of heart surgery at Salem Hospital, Salem, Ore. Friday, Oct. 11, 2002, at age 54.
Born Sept. 16, 1948, Mr. Hooker had been a Woodland resident from 1969 to 1996.
Mr. Hooker is survived by his wife, Bonnie Hooker; sons, Shannon Hooker and family of Vancouver, Wash., and Shawn Hooker and family of Woodland.
A celebration of his life will be held from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, at Free Methodist Church, Salem, Ore.
Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service is assisting the family with arrangements.
HOOPER
Barbara J. Hooper
Barbara Jean Hooper died Jan. 16, 2001, in Woodland, after a long struggle. Born April 15, 1929, in San Francisco, she was 71.
She spent her childhood and early adulthood in the Pacific Northwest. After two years of college she marriage and moved to California. She left the Bay Area in 1973 and settled in Davis, where she had spent the last 28 years. She was employed both at UC Davis and the Davis Community Clinic until her retirement in 1990.
She is survived by her mother, Elizabeth L. Teague; her son, Christopher R. Traube of Morago; her daughter, Maribeth French of Jackson and four granddaughters.
Friends are welcome to attend a memorial service on Friday, Feb. 2, 2001, at 2 p.m. at the Davis Funeral Chapel, 116 D St.

Eleanor Ione (David) Hooper
Mrs. Eleanor Ione (David) Hooper died at Alderson Convalescent Hospital in Woodland Monday, May 9, at age 94.
Mrs. Hooper was born Feb. 12, 1911 in Chico to E. Vernon and Junia (Hook) David. She had been a resident of Yolo County for 55 years. She graduated from Chico State University and then attended UC Berkeley for her Master of Education. Following graduation she first taught school in Modoc County, then moved to Woodland to teach at Beamer School and Lee Junior High. She retired after 32 years of teaching. She was also a homemaker. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Woodland, the Emblem Club, a member of the AARP and a volunteer worker at Woodland Senior Center where she was active with the Community Care Car program.
Survivors include Mrs. Hooper's son, John Winnop and his wife Sharon of Zamora; stepdaughter, Sharon Smith and her husband Canaro of Sacramento; her former daughter-in-law, Jean Kristensen and her husband Kris of Woodland; her grandchildren, Jill Winnop of Eureka, Jason Smith of Sacramento, David Smith of Citrus Heights, Danielle Smith of San Antonio, Texas, Spencer Winnop, Bridgitte Axton, Nikole Patterson and Kyle Patterson all of Woodland; five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Hooper; her sisters, Margaret Harvey and Lenora Pendleton and her brother, Dean David.
The family requests memorials in Mrs. Hooper's name be made to the United Methodist Church of Woodland Building Fund, the Woodland Senior Center or the charity of the donor's choice.
Services: A graveside service is scheduled for 1 p.m. today, Friday, at Woodland Cemetery, 800 West St. with Pastor Doug Johnson officiating. Kraft Bros. Funeral Directors of Woodland is assisting the family with arrangements.
