Eleanor Fait
Eleanor Fait, died in Folsom Wednesday, Oct. 9 2002, at age 93.
She was a native of Spokane, Wash.
She was the first Sacramento woman to enlist in the service during World War II, and became a member of the first WAC class. Her first assignment was as an aide to Col. Overa Culp Hobby, head of the WAC, in Washington, D.C.
She was stationed at Air Force Headquarters until 1945, when she was released by the military to the United Nations to work on the Disabled Persons Program in Frankfurt, Germany.
Ms. Fait was responsible for placing many families of disabled persons in the United States after the war.
She returned to Sacramento and worked in radio and television, producing the "Gene Nelson Show."
In the 1950s, after working at the public information office at McClellan Air Force, she joined the Sacramento office of U.S. Employment Service. While there, she advised the Older Worker Program, which was adopted nationwide to provide opportunities in employment for workers over 45 years of age.
She received widespread recognition for her accomplishments and after retiring in 1947 was appointed to the California Commission of Aging.
She was later employed by her brother, Harrison H. Fait, who operated an adobe brick plant on Howe Avenue, delivering bricks to building sites. This was not an usually activity for a woman who, as a teenager, hitchhiked throughout the United States and later repeated the trip on a motorcycle.
After retiring, she purchased a home in El Dorado Hills and became active in public affairs there and in Folsom.
She was a longtime friend of Ruth Ward of El Dorado Hills and aunt of Glenn Fait of Folsom.
Services are pending.

FALVEY
Gloria Willis Falvey
Gloria Willis Falvey died in Woodland Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2003, at age 81.
Born March 4, 1922 in Oakland, California, Mrs. Falvey is the descendant of early California pioneers. She graduated from Woodland High School in 1939.
Survivors include husband Joseph Falvey; children Howard Falvey and his wife Janet, Susan Fann and her husband Victor, all of whom reside in Woodland. Michael Falvey and his wife Karen of Boise, Idaho; grandchildren Deanna of Santa Margarita, Willie (Lindsey) of Woodland, Todd Fann of Kalispell, Montana, Kevin Fann of Eureka, Mandy, Will, Kathleen, Patrick, Laurel and T.J. of Boise, Idaho. Joseph of Woodland; brother Howard willis and his wife Eloise of Woodland; sister Martha Button of El Macero; and sister-in-law Lorriane of Rocky Hill, CT. She was preceded in death by her parents Howard H. Willis and Gladys Tharp Willis.
The family requests memorials be directed to the Lupus Foundation, 2775 Cottage Way, Suite 5, Sacramento, Ca 95825; Citizen's Who Care, 1017 Main St.; and Holy Rosary School, 503 California St. Arrangements are under the direction of Kraft Bros. in Woodland.
Services: A Mass of Christian Burial is will be celebrated on Wednesday, Jan. 7, at 11 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
FALVEY
Janet Martin Falvey
Janet Falvey passed away Saturday, Oct. 23 in her rural Woodland home at age 56 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born Feb. 27, 1948 in Riverside and was a Woodland resident for 53 years. Janet was a 1966 graduate of Woodland High School and then graduated from Sacramento City College with a degree as a registered nurse. She spent her entire 35 year nursing career at Woodland Memorial Hospital. Her dedication to her patients and fellow employees is legendary among her peers.
Survivors include her mother, June Martin of Magalia; father-in-law, Joseph Falvey of Woodland; her husband of 34 years, Howard Falvey of Woodland; her daughter Deanna Falvey of Orange County, her son, Will Falvey and his wife Lindsey of Woodland; her grandson, Joseph Willis Falvey of Woodland; her sister, Virginia Holcomb and her husband Jerry of Wisconsin; her brothers, Keith Martin and his wife Aleatha of Yuba City and Sam Martin and his wife Kathy of Robbins; her half brother, Kent Martin of Mt. Baldy and numerous nieces and nephews. Janet was preceded in death by her father, Ivan Martin and mother-in-law, Gloria Falvey.

A memorial service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29 at the First Baptist Church of Woodland, 1616 West St. A celebration of life will follow at the Woodland Surgery Center on the campus of Woodland Healthcare from 2 to 4 p.m. Private inurnment will be at Monument Hill Memorial Park.
FANN
Wesley "Houston" Fann
Wesley "Houston" Fann died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2002, following a lengthy illness at age 66.
Born Aug. 27, 1936, in Muskogee, Okla., Mr. Fann was the son of the late Jordan and Pauline Fann. He was the youngest of six children. He moved to Woodland in 1952, shortly after he joined the U.S. Army. He spent most of his service time in Korea. In 1961, he returned to Woodland where he spent the remainder of his life. He was employed by Orrick Truck Terminal for 20 years.
Mr. Fann is survived by his wife of 31 years, Judy Fann; sons, Gary Fann and wife Jamie and Marc Fann; and daughter, Nichole Romero and husband Carlos, all of Woodland.
He is also survived by his grandchildren, Brandon and Bailey Fann and Carlos Romero; brothers, Leon Fann and Ardie Fann, and many sister-in-laws; a brother-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Fann was preceded in death by his sisters, Wanda "Emogene" Utley, and Helen Fann; and brother, Jerrold Jordan Fann.
A graveside service is scheduled at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, at Woodland Cemetery.

FARINO
Philip Farino
Philip Farino of Davis died on April 8, 2002, in Davis. He was 89.
He was born on Oct. 10, 1912, in Dawson, N.M. Prior to moving to Davis, he was a longtime Fresno resident.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Regina, and his son, Phillip Farino.
He is survived by his daughter Jean Christensen of El Macero; son Richard Farino of Bullhead City, Ariz.; and brother Tom Farino. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be today from 2 to 7 p.m. at the Boice Funeral Home, 308 Pollasky St. in Clovis.
A funeral will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Boice Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Belmont Memorial Park in Fresno.
FARLEY
Ruby G. Farley
Ruby Grace (Judd) Farley of Davis died peacefully on June 5, 2002, in Davis with her family by her side. She was 87.
She was born on April 10, 1915, in Livingston, Tenn., to the late William F. and Stella T. (Alldred) Judd. She was a resident of Davis for the past five years, and previously lived in Forestville in Sonoma County for 32 years.
After marrying her husband Orville Farley in Tennessee, the two moved to Detroit, where Ruby worked as a riveter building planes during World War II. Near the end of the war, she and her husband moved to Vallejo, then shortly after that they moved to Redwood City, where she served as supervisor in the election facilities and as partner and bookkeeper for the couple's garage and trucking businesses.
After moving to Forestville, the couple owned and operated Farley's Nursery.
She enjoyed growing flowers, knitting, crocheting and quilting many beautiful keepsakes for her friends and loved ones. She also treasured and loved the time she spent with her family. During her life, she was a generous person, loving in nature and always willing to help those in need.
She was a member of the Forestville Methodist Church for 30 years. Upon the death of her husband, she relocated to Davis to be closer to her family. While in Davis, she continued her faith and membership at the United Methodist Church of Davis.
She was preceded in death by her husband, to whom she was marriage for 65 years; sister, Edna Selby of Quincy; and brother, Joe Judd.
She is survived by son, Ervin Farley and his wife Carole of Napa; daughter, Charlotte (June) Cutler of Davis; and 10 grandchildren, Cheryl A. Taeseli of Sedona, Ariz., Michael and Pamela Higuera of Davis, Shawna and Mark Ruden of Cupertino, David and Elaine Farley of Milpitas, Melinda and Gary Hershon of Pleasanton and Kevin Farley of Napa.
She is also survived by eight great-grandchildren, Christopher Taesali, Nicholas and Michele Ruby Higuera, Patrick Ruden, Kaitlyn and Megan Farley and Cole and Halle Hershon. She is further survived by 20 nieces and nephews; a sister, Floria Holman; and a sister-in-law, Pearl Farley, both of Sparta, Tenn.
Friends are invited to attend a memorial service at 2 p.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church of Davis, 1620 Anderson Road. The Rev. Eileen Lindsay will officiate.
Friends are also invited to attend a graveside committal service at 1 p.m. Monday at Forestview Memorial Park in Forestville.

FARMER
Mrs. Gertrude M. Farmer
San Francisco - Funeral services were held in Hanford today for Mrs. Gertrude M. Farmer, 88, a native of Woodland.
She died Thursday (July 12, 1947) in Oakland.
Mrs. Farmer was the daughter of L. B. Ruggles and Martha Dexter Ruggles, who came here during the Gold Rush.
She spent most of her life in the Mussel Slough section of Tulare County.
Her husband, George T. Farmer, died
20 years ago. Of her 10 children, six are still living. They are: Leta D. Cothran, San Jose; Judge Milton T. Farmer, Berkeley; Lyman D. Farmer, Kings County; Ethel Rea Levy, Oakland; Dr. C. W. Farmer, Turlock, and Lucille B. Neher, San Francisco.
