Raymond William Allen
Raymond William Allen died at Woodland Memorial Hospital Tuesday, March 30, 2004, at age 69.
Born April 12, 1934, in Zanesville, Ohio, Mr. Allen was the son of the late Henry and Kathryn (Cohagen) Allen. He had been a Yolo County resident for 13 years.
Mr. Allen worked for FMC in San Jose as a machinist for 23 years. He was a member of the Woodland Roadrunners Motorcycle Club. In October of 1951, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served aboard the USS Uhlmann, a destroyer assigned to the Far Eastern Fleet off the coast of Korea. During the Korean War, he earned the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal with four stars, the United Nations Service Medal and the China Service Medal in addition to other awards.
Survivors include his wife, Katherine Allen and daughter Ann DelCastillo of Woodland; his daughter Loretta Reese and husband Don of Illinois; and grandchildren, Anthony DelCastillo and Daniel DelCastillo of Woodland, Phillip Reese, Christopher Reese and Leslie Reese, all of Illinois. He was preceded in death by his brother.
The family requests memorials be directed to the Food Bank of Yolo County, 1244 Fortna Ave., Woodland, 95776, in his behalf. Arrangements are under the direction of Kraft Bros. Funeral Directors of Woodland.
Services: A memorial mass will be celebrated at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, April 3, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 301 Walnut St., Woodland. Friends and family are invited to attend.
ADAMS
Selena Pearl Adams
Selena Pearl Adams Reinwand died Aug. 7, 2001, in Provo, Utah. She was 89 years old.
She was born Aug. 3, 1912, in Del Bonita, Alberta, Canada, the daughter of Anmer Carl and Alice Francis Woolf Adams. She marriage John Louis Reinwand in February 1939 in Dillon, Mont. They later divorced.
Mrs. Reinwand lived in Montana, Davis and Utah. She received her bachelor of arts degree from Western Montana College of Education and was an elementary school teacher. She enjoyed art, poetry and handiwork.
She is survived by three sons, Jack Reinwand and his wife Jeanne of Rexburg, Idaho, Louis Reinwand and his wife Lane of Provo, Utah, and Bill Reinwand of Maupin, Ore.; one daughter, Connie Moffat and her husband Riley of Laie, Hawaii; 17 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at Kaysville (Utah) City Cemetery on Friday at 2 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Lindquist's Kaysville Mortuary in Kaysville.
ADAMS
Theodore "Ted" Ellery ADAMS, Jr.
Theodore "Ted" Ellery Adams Jr. of Davis died suddenly of pulmonary complications Jan. 9, 2004, at Mercy General Hospital in Sacramento. He was 67.
He was born Dec. 29, 1936, in Alhambra, to Ted and Beverly Adams. After receiving his bachelor's and master's degrees in range management from UC Davis, he served in the U.S. Army's Medical Service Corps for three years.
Following his military service, he worked as a soil conservationist with the USDA Soil Conservation Service in Pleasanton.
From 1972 until his retirement in 1998, he served as a Cooperative Extension wildlands specialist in the UCD agronomy and range science department.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann, of Davis, daughter Linda Adams of Esparto, daughter Karen McCall and her husband, Dave, and two grandchildren, Nathan and Emma McCall, all of Fairfield.
At the request of the deceased, no services will be held.
The family asks donations in his memory be made to the American Cancer Society or to a charity of the donor's choice.
ADAMS
Winfred Wyatt "Win" Adams
Winfred Wyatt "Win" Adams, who served as cabinet secretary in the early months of Gov. Ronald Reagan's first term and, later, as chairman of the State Water Resources Control Board, died on June 25, 2005, after a brief illness. A resident of El Macero for 28 years, he was 88.
Friends are invited to a memorial reception from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, July 17, at El Macero Country Club, 44571 Clubhouse Drive in El Macero.
Born Feb. 1, 1917, in Warren, Ark., he served more than 20 years of active duty in the U.S. Armed Services, first enlisting in the Army in 1939. He served 21 months in the European Theater of Operations, including battles and campaigns in Rome, Arno, southern France, Ardennes, Rhineland, Central Europe and northern France.
He spent the last years of his active duty in Air Force Intelligence, including a four-year assignment to the U.S. Embassy in Cairo beginning in 1949. In July 1952 when Egypt's King Farouk was forced to abdicate by Gen. Abdul Nasser's military coup, Adams was responsible for providing a safe conduct escort for the king as he fled in his yacht to exile in Italy and Monaco.
Adams retired from military service as a chief warrant officer in 1969 following 10 years in the reserves.
Following his discharge from active duty in 1959, he settled in San Diego and first worked for the U.S. Census Bureau. A lifelong Republican, he then went to work for the California Republican Party. Drawing on what he learned from the demographic database developed by the 1960 decennial census, he led the development and implementation of the Republican "CalPlan" that culminated in Reagan's election in 1966.
He served on the new governor's transition team, assigned to the water and natural resources departments. In 1967 he accepted the position of cabinet secretary, where he facilitated the day-to-day interface of the governor's office with the various departments of state government.
In 1970, Adams was appointed to the State Water Resources Control Board where he served two full four-year terms, plus a one-year extension. He was designated as the board's chairman from 1972 until 1976 when he was succeeded by Gov. Jerry Brown's appointee, John E. Bryson.
Adams' tenure was marked by the completion of the merging of the functions of the State Water Rights Board and the State Water Quality Control Board, which had been combined in 1967 to form the State Water Resources Control Board. It was also a period when the state board and its subsidiary Regional Water Quality Control Boards accepted delegation of expansive new duties under the 1972 federal Clean Water Act.
An avid golfer, he was a member of El Macero Country Club for more than 30 years, where he enjoyed many friendships. He was once a member of the Pentagon golf team, and continued to play until recently. He also enjoyed music and dancing.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters, and by his first wife, Grace Laurine "Jo" George Adams.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Alice of El Macero; her children, Cathie Carson of Davis, Tom Carson of Cameron Park and John Carson of Sacramento; and seven grandchildren.
He is further survived by his sister, Eileen (Mrs. Omer) Johnston of Crossett, Ark.

ADAN
Ethel G. (Odom) Adan
Ethel G. (Odom) Adan died at the Alderson's Convalescent Hospital, Woodland Saturday, April 6, 2002, at age 87.
Born Dec. 7, 1915, in Metcalf, Ga., Mrs. Adan had been a Yolo County resident for 56 years. She was a homemaker all of her marriage life. She was the daughter of the late Walter and Rosie (Montford) Odom. According to her family members, "she enjoyed baking and sewing with her family as well as playing bridge with her friends."
Mrs. Adan is survived by her daughters, Sandra Adan of Sacramento and Bernice Travis and husband Jerry of Dunnigan; grandchildren, Karah Erickson and husband Philip of Esparto, Bill Beathem and wife Dee Dee, and Krista Trujillo and husband Ralph, all of Woodland; and great-grandchildren, Daren Erickson of Esparto, and Karissa Trujillo of Woodland.
She is also survived by her nephews, Burt Odom and wife Pat, whom she had raised since the age of four, Jeffrey Hurst and wife Cindy, and Ronnie Hurst and wife Gloria; and nieces, Jerri Dean and husband Charles and Rosiland Hurst, all of Georgia.
Mrs. Adan was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, John Adan, in July of 2001; siblings, Leo, Little, Robert, Gladys, Leona Lillian; and niece, June Chandler, whom she had also raised from childhood.
A graveside service is scheduled at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 13, at the Capay Cemetery in Esparto.

Dorothy Edna Satterfield Aday
Dorothy Edna Satterfield Aday died at Alderson Convalescent Hospital in Woodland Thursday, Feb. 10, 2005 at age 85.
Mrs. Aday was born Oct. 8, 1919 in Longmont, Colo. She had been a Yolo County resident for 7 years. She was a homemaker and active in several family businesses.
Survivors include Mrs. Aday's son, Garlyn Ross Aday and his wife Dorene Aday; her grandchildren, Janice Aday of Oregon, Barbara Aday-Garcia of San Diego, Connie Morris of Orange County, and Ronald Ross Aday of Fallbrook; six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson, Adin Ross Aday. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Kenneth Ross Aday and her parents, Levi and Allie Satterfield.
The family requests memorials in Mrs. Aday's name to be directed to Alderson Convalescent Hospital, 124 Walnut St., Woodland, 95695.
Services: A graveside service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 18 at Rocklin District Cemetery, Rocklin. Lambert Funeral Home of Roseville is assisting the family with arrangements.
ADKINS
Mason Clell Adkins
Mason Clell Adkins died in Roseville, Ca., on Thursday, May 22, 2003, at age 88.
Born April 16, 1915, in Lincoln Creek Holler, Fillmore, Mo., Mr. Adkins graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School, Council Bluffs, Iowa, in June 1934. He met and marriage Thelma E. Adkins in Council Bluffs, Iowa, in 1937 and moved to Los Angeles in 1940. During this time he worked in a cabinet shop that built parts for the gliders that were used in the Normandy Invasion. After the war he worked for a lumber company. In 1955 he moved to Woodland and opened Service Parts and Equipment, a NAPA parts store on Main St., until his retirement. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, French Gulch Community Church, fifteen year member of the Elks Lodge in Arizona and Redding, Shasta Corvair Club and Elkhorn Boat Club.
Survivors include his daughter, Karen Scott and husband Jerry; grandson, Jeff and wife Stephanie; granddaughter, Debbie Scott-Rowe and husband Paul; great-grandsons, Kraig and Dustin Scott and Kurtis and Garrett Rowe, all of Woodland; sister, Sarah Murphy of Missouri Valley, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma E. Adkins, in 1994; parents, Madison and Lurie Adkins; brothers, Edward and Lester; and sister, Alice.
