STRAYER

Willis David Strayer

Willis David Strayer died on Saturday, April 30, 2005 at Woodland Memorial Hospital at age 67.

Mr. Strayer was born Jan 31, 1938 in Bellefontaine Ohio, to the late William and Dorothy (Boots) Strayer.

After attending area schools, Mr. Strayer entered the U.S. Navy in 1958 and served through 1968. He was employed in the aerospace industry, as an electrical engineer for more than 20 years.

Survivors include Mr. Strayer's daughter, Lisa Von Gray of San Jose; two sons, Reece Strayer of Hot Springs Village Ark. and Barry Strayer of New Port Richey. Fla.; and close friend, Russ Pendarvis of Napa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wiliam and Dorothy Strayer.

Services: Private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction of Evergreen Funeral Services of Woodland.

STREETER

Drury Robert Streeter

Drury Robert Streeter, born in Winters, on July 24, 1910, died peacefully at home on January 27, 2001 at age 90. He was preceded in death by his wife, and then his son, Gary.

Mr. Streeter served as an infantry officer in the European Theater in World War II, and led his men with valor. Until his passing, he remained close friends with those who served with him, attending yearly reunions, visiting with them and their families throughout the years.

After retirement he enjoyed photography, wood carving and trips to the coast and Napa Valley.

At his request no services will be held. His wishes were to be cremated and scattered at a childhood sanctuary. Memorial contributions in his memory may be made to Yolo Hospice, P.O. Box 1014, Davis, CA 95617.

STREETER

Gary Ronald Streeter

Gary Ronald Streeter passed away unexpectedly on Nov. 5, 1999, at his residence in Winters. Born on Nov. 24, 1953 in Woodland, he was 45 years old.

Mr. Streeter worked as a truck driver in the area, hauling farm produce and gravel for 20 years. He graduated from Winters High School in 1971, where he played football and was a member of Block W Club. He also attended one year at Santa Rosa Junior College where he played football.

He is survived by his father, Drury Robert Streeter, of Winters.

Mr. Streeter was preceded in death by his mother, Hazel Mary Streeter, in 1968.

No services are planned. Inurnment will take place at the Winters Cemetery.

STREIT Jr.

Hazen 'Ping' Streit Jr.

Hazen 'Ping' Streit Jr., born July 18, 1930, died March 3, 2000 in Woodland. He was 69.

Ping was a long time San Diego and Sacramento area resident.

He was retired from the auto industry, where he had owned and managed Streit Chevrolet in La Mesa, Calif, and most recently was the business manager for Van Wert Chrysler Plymouth in Davis.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Streit, brother, James Streit and his wife, Maryann, daughters, Jenni Streit, Laura Chirumbolo and Tracy Poulsen, sons Jon Streit and David Wagner, as well as 13 grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests you send contributions to the Regents of the University of California, for Bladder Cancer research c/o Frederick J. Meyers MD; Univ. of Ca; 4150 V. Street, Suite 3100 Sacramento; or Yolo Hospice, P.O. Box 1014, Davis, CA 95617.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. March 6 at the Unitarian Church of Davis; 27074 Patwin Road.

STRICKLAND

Charles "Chuck" Wesley Strickland, III

Charles "Chuck" Wesley Strickland III of Davis died Feb. 27, 2004. He was 46.

Born Feb. 10, 1958, in Long Beach, he moved to Yolo County 17 years ago. He worked as a custodian at UC Davis from 1987 to 1992.

He attended University Covenant Church, where he played drums with the worship team. He also played in several garage bands, including Common Ground. He worked with Salt Fellowship in Long Beach in the early 1980s.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Wesley Strickland I, and his brother, Charles Wesley Strickland II, both of Long Beach.

He is survived by his wife, Melinda Strickland of Davis; sons, Skye Jernigan of Long Beach and Nathan and Ben Strickland, both of Davis; mother, Kay Strickland of Loomis; sisters, Donna Sherman of Loomis and Mary Gaekel of Corona.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at McNary's Chapel, 458 College St., Woodland. A memorial service will begin at 1 p.m. Thursday at University Covenant Church, 315 Mace Blvd. in Davis.

Memorials may be sent to Christian Children's Fund, 2821 Emerywood Parkway, Richmond, VA 23294.

Arrangements are under the direction of McNary's Chapel.

STRIEMER

Galen F. Striemer

Galen "Doc" Frank Striemer died Oct. 31, 2001, in Woodland. Born on March 25, 1920, in Fairmont, Minn., to Vandala and Frank Striemer, he was 81 years old.

In 1944, he graduated from the University of Minnesota with a business degree and later became a certified public accountant. He worked at the Farmers and Merchants State Bank of Alpha, Minn., founded by his father, and at various construction companies as treasurer and financial officer. He was active in and served as an officer for professional accounting organizations. In 1986, he retired from the position of financial officer for the Associated General Contractors of California in Sacramento.

He was a lifelong member of the Presbyterian Church and as an elder, served in many leadership positions. In his retirement, he worked as volunteer director of the South Sacramento Ecumenical Parish. He was a tireless volunteer all his life, serving the Sacramento United Way, Legal Aid for the Elderly and Disabled, Senior Connections, and the Mental Health Association. He loved playing cards and was an active member of the Widowed Persons Association of Sacramento.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilda "Gussy, " and sons Keith and Jeff.

He is survived by his wife Shirley Striemer of Woodland; his sister Helen Meium of Alpha, Minn.; daughter Katy Spanos and husband George; sons Charles Striemer and wife Diana of Frisco, Texas, and Andy Striemer and wife Genene of Concord; as well as five grandchildren.

A memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Faith Presbyterian Church, 625 Florin Road in Sacramento.

Gifts in memoriam may be made to the Alzheimer's Aid Society of California, (916) 448-7001, or South Sacramento Interfaith Partnership, (916) 731-5530.

McNary's Chapel is assisting the family.

STRIEMER

Shirley Ruth Striemer

Shirley Ruth Striemer died in her Woodland home Thursday, April 3, 2003, at age 74.

Born Dec. 14, 1928, in Nampa, Idaho, Mrs. Striemer had been a Yolo Country resident for the last 50 years. She was interior designer for the last 40 years.

Survivors include her sons, Lee K. Forbes of Marysville, and Timothy Alan Forbes of Woodland; daughter, Jil Janine Britt of San Jose; stepsons, Scott and Jeff Matkin, both of Woodland; sister, Marion Phillips of Bosie, Idaho; grandchildren are, Timothy O. Forbes and Anna Forbest, both of Sacramento and Alixandra, Jordan and Cole Britt of San Jose.

Arrangements are under the direction of McNary's Chapel of Woodland.

Services: Graveside services is scheduled at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, 2003, at Monument Hill Memorial Park of Woodland.
