Geneva Laverne Kendall
Geneva Laverne Kendall went peacefully to her eternal rest in the early hours of Dec. 4, 2005. She was 86. Born in Girdner, Mo., she grew up in Colorado, moving to California with her family at age 18. She had been a Yolo County resident for 67 years. A day never passed that Geneva neglected to sing praises to her Lord and Savior, while weeding her garden or strolling through the house. She lovingly tended her family and friends and leaves a large void in the lives of all who knew her gentle ways. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of the Nazarene for more than 65 years where she served as teacher, a missionary and other capacities.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Norman W. Kendall; her daughter, Brenda Wing; granddaughters Tammy Schmid and husband Greg of Woodland, and Teresa Miller of Rancho Cucamonga; great-grandson, Chase "Chasey" Snook Schmid of Woodland; as well as step-great-grandchildren, Kristen Schurter (Ted) of Illinois, Eric Schmid of Los Angeles and Suzanne Schmid of Woodland. She also leaves a sister, Lila Moore of Riverbank; brother Bill Irby and wife Schorlett, brother-in-law John Buchholz, all of Woodland; and brothers- and sisters-in-law Richard and Rosina Kendall of San Francisco and Thomas and Barbara Kendall of Carson City, Nev. and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Goldie Irby; her son, Terry Kendall; brothers Noble, Cecil, Al and Les Irby and sister, Frieda Buchholz.
A graveside service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 9 at Monument Hill with Greg Schmid officiating. Memorial donations in Mrs. Kendall's memory may be directed to the charity of the donor's choice. Kraft Bros. Funeral Directors is assisting the family with arrangements.
KENDRICK
Ruth H. Kendrick
Ruth Helen Kendrick died March 21, 2000, at Sutter Davis Hospital following a sudden illness. Born Sept. 21, 1919, in Black Eagle, Mont., she was 80 years old.
She was a Davis resident for the past 12 years, moving from Southern California with her husband of almost 60 years, Walt Kendrick. She was the daughter of the late John B. Osterman and Venci Agnic Osterman and was raised in the Catholic faith.
A retired loan officer with Bank of America, her career in banking spanned 30 years.
During World War Ii she worked as a riveter with the Lockheed Corp., building airplanes at the Santa Barbara factory.
She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and cherished the time she spent with them. She also enjoyed golf, bowling, gardening and cooking.
She is survived by her husband, Walt Kendrick of Davis; two daughters, Sharon Johnson and her husband Darrell of Hazelton, Idaho, and Jan Anderson and her husband Rich of Woodland; a son, Walt Kendrick Jr. and his wife Shanna of Kimberly, Idaho; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two nieces; and two nephews.
Family and friends are invited to a graveside committal service Friday at 1 p.m. at the Davis Cemetery. The Davis Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
KENDRICK
Walton O. Kendrick
Walton O. Kendrick died May 17, 2000, in Woodland. Born in San Luis Obispo on Dec. 16, 1917, he was 82.
He was a fifth-generation Californian and a direct descendant of Anne Twitchell, the first white woman born at Sutter's Fort. His forefathers came from England to fight in the Revolutionary War.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and flew A-26s and A-20s in the 47th Bomber Group in a combat mission over Italy, earning the Distinguished Flying Cross, Bronze Star with eight clusters and the Silver Star.
He graduated from Carpinteria High School, earning all-American honors in football and track. He worked for Standard Oil Co. as a sales representative for 40 years. He loved golf, bowling and fishing. His speciality was barbecued hamburgers.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Ruth Kendrick, on March 21, 2000. He is survived by his two daughters, Sharon Johnson and her husband Darrell of Hazelton, Idaho, and Jan Anderson and her husband Rich of Woodland; his son, Walton O. Kendrick Jr. and his wife Shanna of Twin Falls, Idaho; and his brother, Jack Kendrick of Lake Arrowhead.
He is also survived by nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Graveside services with military honors will be held at the Davis Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Davis Funeral Chapel.
KENNEDY
Kathleen Elizabeth "Kat" Kennedy
Kathleen "Kat" Elizabeth Kennedy of Woodland died in Sacramento Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2005 at age 48.
Ms. Kennedy was born Sept. 9, 1957 in San Diego. She had been a resident of Yolo County for eight years. A high school graduate, she also attended Esparto High School. She served in the U.S. Navy for 15 years and worked as an accountant for Wal-Mart in Woodland for eight years. She was also a volunteer for the American Cancer Society.
Survivors include Ms. Kennedy's daughter, Renita Begley; her son, Cedryc Kennedy; her grandchildren, Ariel Dunn and Sadie Jade Kennedy, all of Woodland; her mother, Catherine Kennedy of Vacaville; her sister, Gladys Kennedy of Guinda; and her brother, George M. Kennedy III of Maui, Hawaii. She was preceded in death by her father, George Kennedy II and her brother, Ronald Kennedy.

Margaret B. Kennedy
Margaret B. Kennedy died Dec. 6, 2005, in Davis. She was 87.
A viewing and Rosary begin at 4 p.m. Sunday at Wiscombe's Davis Funeral Chapel, 116 D St. A funeral Mass begins at 10 a.m. Monday at St. James Catholic Church, 1275 B St. in Davis. Interment will follow in the Davis Cemetery.
She was born April 24, 1918, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Peter and Florence (Poitner) Kelsch. She attended St. Mary's of the Wasatch in Salt Lake City, Utah, where she received her master's degree in library science. She was first employed as a librarian at Gonzaga University, and then became the head librarian of the Idaho Falls Public Library.
She marriage Scott Kennedy on June 5, 1957, in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Upon locating to California, she worked as a cataloger at the UC Santa Barbara Library from 1957 to 1975. In 1975 she began working in the catalog department of the UC Davis Library where she remained until her retirement in 1984.
She attended St. James Catholic Church in Davis.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Scott Kennedy, who was the head of the UC Davis Physical Sciences & Engineering Library. He died Aug. 15, 2000. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Phyllis McGee and Florence Kelsch, and by her brothers, Leonard and Kenneth Kelsch.
She is survived by her brothers, Vern Kelsch and his wife Mildred of Idaho Falls, Idaho; Raymond Kelsch and his wife Carlene of Kamiah, Idaho; Ralph Kelsch and his wife Beulah of Idaho Falls, Idaho; and James Kelsch and his wife Karen of Boise, Idaho; her sisters, Betty Lumia and her husband Peter of Tucson, Ariz.; Joyce Rausch and her husband William of Easton, Maryland; and Mary Carol McKibben of Las Vegas, Nevada; and numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
KENNEDY
Scott Kennedy
Scott Kennedy, whose career as librarian culminated at UC Davis after service at three UC campuses, one of its research laboratories, and tenures in industry and governmental libraries, died Aug. 15, 2000, at Sutter Davis Hospital. He was 80.
Born at Fort Lewis, Wash., he grew up in Southern California, primarily Santa Paula, where he attended elementary and high school. He graduated from San Jose State College with a degree in biological science, and then worked briefly for the U.S. Department of Agriculture in San Francisco before earning a library science degree from UC Berkeley.
He entered into professional librarianship immediately by taking a position at its biology library. From Cal, he was offered several UC library positions, moving from the Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory in New Mexico, to UCLA, where he was physics librarian.
Following his service at UCLA, Kennedy accepted a position as a librarian for Phillips Petroleum Company, Atomic Energy Division, at the National Reactor Testing Station near Idaho Falls, Idaho. It was while in Idaho that he met his future wife, Margaret Kelsch, who was then head of the Idaho Falls Public Library.
Following their marriage, the Kennedys returned to Southern California, where he spent more than a decade with TEMPO, a division of General Electric in Santa Barbara, under contract with the federal government. Before leaving the Santa Barbara area, he also worked as a librarian for the Department of the Navy at Port Hueneme. In 1975, the Kennedys moved to Davis, where he assumed his last professional position as head of the UC Davis Physical Sciences Library, from which he retired in 1984.
During his more than 35 years of librarianship, he was a member and officer of national, state and local professional library associations. While in retirement, he was an active traveler, member of the UC Davis Library Associates, and an enthusiastic appreciator of the art and culture of the American Southwest. He is survived by Margaret Kennedy, his wife of 43 years.
A memorial service is scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 30, at 10 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church in Davis.

KENNELLY
Marlies Schaad Kennelly
Marlies Schaad Kennelly died in her Hillsboro, Ore. home of pancreatic cancer on Thursday, Dec. 11, 2003, at age 66.
Born July 27, 1937, in Woodland, Mrs. Kennelly was a 1955 graduate of Pierce High School in Arbuckle and of San Jose College. She grew up in Dunnigan.
Survivors include her daughters, Lisa McMahan and husband Gary of Hillsboro, Ore. and Patricia Kennelly of San Rafael, and son, John Kennelly of San Jose; brother, Gary Schaad and his wife Marlene of Dunnigan and three grandsons. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elbert and Hagar Schaad of Dunnigan.
The family requests memorials be directed to the Restoration Fund of the Union Church of Dunnigan, P.O. Box 203, Dunnigan 95937; or to the charity of donor's choice.
Services: A memorial service is scheduled at noon, Friday, Dec. 19, at Evergreen Christian Center, Hillsboro, Ore.
