Voicie Mae Bertinoia Dennis
Voicie Mae Bertinoia Dennis, known by friends and family as Vickie, passed away April 15, 2006 in Vacaville.
Vickie was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas, and concealed her age, her date of birth and her age so well that they are unknown, but she assuredly lived a full life. Mrs. Dennis was a resident of Vacaville and was preceded in death by her husband Raymond “Buck” Dennis. Vickie retired from Northbay Hospital as a Registered Nurse after 40 years. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and sharing her maple trees with residents of Allendale and Vacaville. She was an absolute angel of a gal who loved, and is loved by, God. She gave tirelessly of herself and to others to assure their comfort ahead of hers. She had a great love for gardening and around Vicki, all things grew with love and direction.
She is survived by daughter Maria (Kent) Thompson of Vacaville; sons Bill Hicks of Cleveland, Ok., Gary (Rebecca) Hicks of Prescott, AR., Kenneth (Christyne) Bertinoia of Winters and John Bertinoia of Vacaville; sister Ermma Ridenour; brothers Paul, Steve and Butch; grandchildren Lihn, Raymond and Rebecca Hicks, Adam, Joe and Matthew Bertinoia, Casey Mills, Chad and Andrea Thompson, Ronny and Dallas Hicks, Kimberly and Bill Hicks; great-grandchildren Dylan, Christen, Alexis, Tenia, Tristian, Sevastian, Kateland, Haley, Dustin, lil’ Casey and Ravan; and longtime friends Goldie Maner, Willie Field, Lisa Saenz and Loraine Patterson.
Memorial services will be held at 203 Main Street Chapel in Winters on Saturday, April 29 at 4 p.m. with Pastor Rutledge officiating. A private interment will follow.
DENSON
Verna Ellen (Fowler) Denson
Verna Ellen (Fowler) Denson died Aug. 27, 2001, at the age of 94. Born in Denton, Texas, on Feb. 18, 1907, to William and Zephy (Phillips) Fowler, she had been a Yolo County resident for the past 55 years.
She moved to Esparto in 1947, first working behind the famous Esparto Drug Store soda fountain where she began her love affair with the preparation and service of food. She went from the drug store to the old Yolo General Hospital and then to Woodland Memorial Hospital, and finally settled in for many years with the Davis Unified School District.
She had worked more than 30 years as a cook before retiring to her love of her family, her children and their children, camping, fishing, and most of all, continuing to cook and prepare feasts for the enjoyment of her large and extended family. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge of Woodland.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Orion Denson; her brother, Hubert Fowler of Dallas; and her daughter, Margaret L. Firth of Davis.
She is survived by her son, Joe Denson and his wife Hazel of Davis; daughter, Kay Hernandez and her husband Jesse; and son-in-law Bill Firth, all of Davis. She is also survived by five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
No visitation is scheduled prior to graveside services, which will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Davis Cemetery, 820 Pole Line Road. The family requests that gifts in her memory be directed to the the donor's charity of choice.

Juanita Ida Gibson
Juanita Ida Gibson died in her hometown of Red Bluff Dec. 15, 2004. She was 83.
Graveside services will begin at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at the Paskenta Cemetery in Tehema County.
Born Sept. 1, 1921, in Peacock, Texas, she attended schools there and graduated from high school.
After moving to California, she was a homemaker and farmer, working for the Kimber Ranch in Fremont for eight years.
She was preceded in death by her son, Dewayne Alvin Gibson, in 1987; her brothers, Roddy Hallford and Albert Hallford; and her sister, Mary Hallford.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, William Alvin Gibson of Red Bluff; sons, Donald Gibson of Woodland and David Gibson of Red Bluff; a sister, Juanice Williams of Hollister; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society in her memory. Arrangements are under the direction of Evergreen Funeral Service of Woodland.

Judy Gibson
Judy Gibson, born August 29, 1938, died April 24, 2000 in Winters after a 20 year heroic battle with breast cancer. She died at home with her family at her bedside.
An avid reader and bingo player, she was a homemaker who raised five children on her own and managed to go back to school to earn her associates degree in early childhood education at Cerritos Community College.
She is survived by her mother, Cecilia Valenzano of Woodland, her brother, John Simmons and his wife, Doreen, of Sacramento, her brother, Jim Simmons and his wife, Pat, of Monroe, Louisiana, her sister, Jeanne Simmons, of Woodland. She also left behind her son, Michael Gibson, and his wife, Crystal, of Davis, her son, Patrick Gibson, and his wife, Tammy, of Woodland, her son John Gibson Sr., and his wife, Aimee, of West Sacramento, her daughter, Pam Gibson, and fiancee, Paul Cole, of Winters, and her daughter, Peggy Gibson, of Winters. She also left behind seven grandchildren, Krystal, James, William, John Jr., Sean, Joseph and Shannon. Several nieces and nephews were also left behind including Lee, Mara, Shana, Shay-Anne and Skye. Also mourning her loss are close friends, Reginald Long of West Hollywood and bingo partner Lydia Landeros of Davis.
Judy will be remembered by her family and friends for her indomitable will, boundless love and kindness of spirit. Services were held at 10:30 a.m., May 1, 2000 at St. Anthony Catholic Church with private graveside services following. In lieu of flowers please donate to the American Cancer Society.

Millard Raymond "Red" Gibson
Millard Raymond "Red" Gibson died peacefully at his home in Brooks Thursday, Feb. 27, 2003, at the age of 79.
Born Feb. 7, 1924 in Latham, Kansas to James and Rose Gibson, He resided in Yolo County for the last 66 years. Attended Esparto High School, was a World War II Navy Veteran, 5th Special Naval Construction Battalion. After returning from the Navy, Red worked for Bud Gordon 10 years and 27 years for Syar Industries, Inc. Red enjoyed the Annual 5th Special Reunions, bus trips to Reno, fishing, cutting wood, and spending time for his family and friends during his retirement years. Red was a member of the Esparto VFW.
Survivors include son James E. Gibson and companion Cathy Roath, and daughters, Joyce Griffith and husband Gene, and Janis Anguay and husband Tom; five grandchildren, Clinton, Brenda, Debora, Phillip and Karen; and 12 great-grandchildren. Companion, Marlene Covington; brothers, Byron and Jerry Gibson; and sister, Lorene Robinson.
Preceded in death by his wife of 49 years Phyllis J. Gibson; brothers, George, James and Jack Gibson.
The family requests memorials be directed to Capay Valley Fire Department; or Esparto VFW.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 4, 2003, at the Capay Cemetery, the family invites everyone to the VFW Hall in Esparto following services.

Rodger D. Gibson
Rodger D. Gibson died in Glendale, Ariz. Monday, Feb. 28, 2005 at age 55.
Mr. Gibson was born April 26, 1949 in Woodland. He had been a Yolo County resident for 53 years. He is a 1967 graduate of Woodland High School and played on local softball teams. He was the general manager for Primesource Building Products for nine years.
Survivors include Mr. Gibson's wife, Carol L. Gibson of Glendale, Ariz.; his children, Greg Gibson and his wife Kandi of Peoria, Ariz., Kirstin Truitt and her husband Gabe of Woodland and Alicia Gibson of Glendale, Ariz.; his grandchildren, Damian and Kailey Gibson of Peoria, Ariz. and Stacey Truitt of Woodland; his sisters, Joanna Luna and her husband David and Della Sorenson and her husband Troy all of Dixon and his brothers, Randy Gibson and his wife Teresa of Winslow, Ark. and Donnie Gibson of Mountainberg, Ark. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Nicholas and his father, Harvey Gibson.
The family requests memorials in Mr. Gibson's name be directed to Yolo Hospice, P.O. Box 1014, Davis, 95617.
Services: Visitation is scheduled for 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 8 at McNary's Chapel, 458 College St., Woodland. A graveside service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday, March 18 at Monument Hill Memorial Park. McNary's Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
GIBSON
William Alvin Gibson
William Alvin Gibson died in Sierra Health Care Convalescent Hospital, Davis Monday, Aug. 12, 2002, at age 82.
Born Oct. 28, 1919, in Lexington, Ky., Mr. Gibson was the son of the late John and Helen Gibson. He was a long time resident of West Sacramento prior to moving to Davis. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II. He was employed by PG&E for 25 years last working as a senior map draftsman. According to his family members, "he was an avid golfer and played with a group from PG&E, the P.S.E.A. Golf Association. He also loved to fish."
Mr. Gibson is survived by his daughter, Sandy Rangel of Woodland; grandchildren, Anthony Rangel of Colorado and Aaron Rangel of Woodland; and great-grandchildren, Ashton and Alyssa Rangel of Colorado and Claire Orbin-Rangel of Fairfield.
He is also survived by his sisters, Dorothy Kelley of Kentucky, Mimi Westerfield and Mary Jane Gibson, both of South Carolina; and brother, Robert Gibson of Kentucky.
Respecting the wishes of Mr. Gibson, no services are scheduled.
