Margaret "Peggy" Berlinger
Margaret "Peggy" Berlinger died Sunday, July 6, 2003, at age 91.
Born April 20, 1912, in Longmont, Colo., Mrs. Berlinger was a long time resident of Orland. She was a member of the Federated Church of Orland, Rebeckans, Orland Women Improvement Club.
Survivors include her daughter, Judith and husband Cary Tommeraason of Woodland; granddaughter, Jill Brigham and husband Matt; grandson, Todd Tommeraason and wife Paige; and four great-grandchildren, all of Woodland.
The family requests memorials be directed to the charity of donor's choice. Arrangements are under the direction of F.D. Sweet & Son Mortuary, 825 A St., Orland.
Services: A visitation is scheduled from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 10, at F.D. Sweet & Son Mortuary. A graveside service is scheduled at 10 a.m. Friday, July 11, at Oddfellow Cemetery Gazebo.
BERMAN
Edward Berman
Edward Berman of Davis died March 12, 2005. He was 58 years old.
Born Feb. 13, 1947, in New York, he was a Davis resident for five years.
He is survived by his wife, Morgana Bernard of Davis; his mother, Gertrude Berman of Laguna Hills; and his sister, Diane Silber of Laguna Beach.
He is further survived by many in-laws, cousins and friends.
Services are private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Yolo Hospice.
MARCH
Elizabeth Ida March
Elizabeth Ida March of Woodland died March 19, 2006, at the age of 76.
A memorial service begins at 3 p.m. on Saturday at St. John’s United Church of Christ, 434 Cleveland St. in Woodland. A reception follows in the church hall.
Born Sept. 26, 1929, in Sacramento, she attended Robbins Elementary School, Yuba City High School and UC Davis. She worked as a teacher’s aide in Fremont for 15 years. Fifty years of her life were spent taking care of her home and family. She volunteered with the Woodland Literacy Group, St. John’s Retirement Village and Friends of the Library. She was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, John Thomas March; her son, Raymond March; a daughter, Carol Sarpy March; a brother, Hal Benner; and a brother-in-law, Paul March.
She is survived by her sons, Ken March, and Tom March and his wife Terry, both of Woodland; sister Jeannie Lockett and her husband Bill of Knights Landing; and sisters-in-law Linda Benner of Gridley and Barbara March of Kenner.
She is further survived by four grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family requests memorial donations be made to St. John’s Retirement Village or the Woodland Healthcare Foundation.
MARCH
Mildred May "Babe" March
Mildred May "Babe" March died in Alderson Convalescent Hospital, Woodland Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2002, at age 88.
Born Feb. 26, 1914, in Williams, Mrs. March was the daughter of the late Stephen Andrew and Jessie May Hale Ryan of Williams. In 1930 she marriage Marcel "Bud" March in Medford, Ore., and in 1942 moved to Woodland where they owned and operated Bud March Butane and Propane Service.
Mrs. March was a member of St. Luke's Church where she was for several years director of the Altar Guild and chairwoman of the ECW Rummage Sale. She was a nurse for the Woodland Clinic Medical Group for 38 years and for 15 years served as chairwoman of Woodland Hospital Blood Drive. She was also a volunteer as a "Pink Lady" for the Woodland Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. According to her family members, "she enjoyed traveling and playing Tripoli with her friends and enjoyed watching her daughters participate in horse shows and watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren compete in sports. She was an avid Sacramento Kings fan."
She is survived by her daughters, Marci Pieratt and husband Edward of Woodland and Maryln March of Seattle, Wash.
Mrs. March is also survived by her grandchildren, Tori Hollowell and husband Kevin and Gregory Pieratt and wife Wendy, all of Woodland; and great-grandchildren, Jason, Matthew and Heather Hollowell, also of Woodland, Raeleen Pieratt of Auburn and Amber, Jessika and Shelby Pieratt, all of Woodland; sisters-in-laws, Rae March of West Sacramento and Melba Giovanoni and husband Frankie of Elk Grove; and cousin, Alice Lee Smith and husband Hugh of Williams.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Bud March, Dec. 24, 1976.
A memorial service is scheduled at 10 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 31, at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Second St. and Lincoln Ave., Woodland. Interment will be private in Williams.
The family requests memorials be directed to St. Luke's Church; or the charity of the donor's choice.

MARIN
Felix Reyes Marin
Felix Reyes Marin died in Woodland Sunday, Oct. 10, 2004 at age 46.
Mr. Marin was born Nov. 20, 1957 in Esparto and had been a Yolo County resident all his life. He was a 1975 graduate of Esparto High School and worked in the automotive repair field as a mechanic.
Survivors include Mr. Marin's mother, Guadalupe Marin of Esparto; his son, Michael Benitez of Woodland; his sisters, Epimenia Galvan and Sara Stotts, both of Esparto, Josephine Garcia of Madison and Trinidad Matta of Marysville; his brothers, Robert Marin and his wife Julia and Ben Marin and his wife Sophie, all of Woodland, Don Marin and his wife Lorrie and Richard Marin, all of Esparto; his aunts, Pascuala Fernandez, Berna Plarisan, and Lorenza Umbay, all of Madison; his niece, Rebecca Quijano of Woodland as well as numerous other nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Guadalupe Marin.
Memorials in Mr. Marin's name may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
Services: A celebration of life is scheduled for noon Wednesday, Oct. 13 at his mother's home, 26333 Grafton St., Esparto. Evergreen Funeral Services of Woodland is assisting the family with arrangements.
MARION
Jim Lee Marion
Jim Lee Marion passed away on Jan. 12, 2001 at Sutter Memorial hospital in Sacramento due to congestive heart failure. Born in Woodland on Nov. 8, 1946, he was 54 years old.
Mr. Marion graduated from Woodland High School in 1964. He studied art at Yuba College, and also studied business law and business administration at Sacramento Skilled Business College, from which he graduated. A long-time Woodland resident, he moved to Winters in 1975.
A former Winters City Council member and Citizen of the Year, Mr. Marion’s contributions to the Winters community were numerous and consistent over the 26 years he lived here.
Being a sports announcer was one of his passions. Mr. Marion announced at Winters High School football games for eight years and for the Winters Junior Warrior football games for two years. He also served as a coach, and was a member of the Winters Little League board of directors for more than 10 years. He was inducted into the Winters Little League Hall of Fame in 1993. Mr. Marion enjoyed helping out with local youth activities, and he and his wife of 26 years, Gloria, served as Youth Day chairpersons for 10 years. Together, they shared the 1993 Citizen of the Year honor.
Mr. Marion had various occupations during his lifetime. He was a machine operator for Mobile Chemical Co., a transport driver for Marvin Land Plane Co., a co-owner of All Action Awards, a truck driver for various companies, a bus driver for the first Yolo Bus run to Winters, a dispatcher for Yolo Bus, a clerk for the city of Winters public works department, and most recently was a dispatcher for Dumar’s Landscaping in Woodland.
An active member of the Winters Community Theatre Group, Mr. Marion performed on stage, and also ran lights and sound. He directed plays whenever possible. He is remembered for coming alive when on stage and having the unique ability to become his character. Mr. Marion also participated in the city of Winters youth drama productions and Winters High School music department benefits.
Family and friends fondly remember Mr. Marion’s delightful sense of humor (on stage and off), his love of movie matinees, his “quest” for the ultimate truck, the catfishing “extravaganzas, ” his Bodega Bay camping stories, his “mania” for collecting odds and ends, his Sunday breakfasts at Myrna’s (now Putah Creek Café), the Monday Night football “madness, ” his “thing” for cowboy hats and boots, and his devotion to his family. He is described by his wife, Gloria, as her best friend, and someone who will be missed by all.
Mr. Marion is survived by his wife, Gloria, of Winters; son Eric Marion of Reno, Nevada; daughter Melissa Marion of Tucson, Arizona; mother, Mollie Marion of Sacramento; sisters and brothers-in-law Shirley and Brant Byrd of Elk Grove and Kathy and Mark Meredith of Woodland; brothers and sisters-in-law, Francis and Betty Marion of Murietta, Georgia, Jim and Madeline Hawley of Winters; brother, Ivan Marion of Lincoln, Arkansas; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lee Marion, in 1991, and brothers, Jack and Dan Marion, in 1983.
Family and friends gathered at the Winters Community Center on Tuesday, Jan. 16, where they laughed, cried, sang and shared a meal in honor and celebration of Mr. Marion’s life.
Contributions maybe made in Mr. Marion’s memory to the Jim Marion Memorial Fund at First Northern Bank in Winters.
MARKS
Etta Josephine Marks
Etta Josephine Marks of Woodland died Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2006 at age 87.
Mrs. Marks was born Aug. 3, 1918 in Todd County, Minn. She had been a Yolo County resident for 60 years. For 15 years she worked as a saleswoman for JCPenney and she was a member of American Lutheran Church in Woodland.
Survivors include Mrs. Marks' stepdaughters, Paulette Marks and Gwendolyn Marks, both of Dover, Ohio; her sons, Bryan Guse, Aaron Marks and Alden Marks, all of Woodland; her grandchildren, Jon Guse, Maggie Pinkston, Kayla Marks, Elisa Marks, Makenzi Marks and Conner Marks; four great-grandchildren; and her sisters, Ida Wedin of Minnesota and Alpha Hebert of Davis. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Leonard Guse and her second husband, Charles Marks.
The family requests memorials in Mrs. Marks' name be directed to American Lutheran Church, 1114 College St., Woodland, 95695.
Services: A funeral is scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 9 at McNary's Chapel, 458 College St., Woodland. Reverend Vernon Holmes of American Lutheran Church will officiate. Interment will follow at Woodland Cemetery. McNary's Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
