ROGERS

Earl Junior Rogers

Earl Junior Rogers passed away on Wednesday, July 30, 2003, at his Rocklin, Ca. home, at the age of 76. He was born on July 9, 1927 in Oakland, Ca. He was raised in Knights Landing, moved to Woodland and then had lived and worked in Paso Robles. The past twenty years he has resided in Rocklin.

Mr. Rogers in survived by his wife Nancy McClure Rogers, his children and their families: Vicki Teague and husband Frank and Cheryl Holloway and husband Don, both of Paso Robles; Jeff Rogers and wife Doreen of Stockton, his stepchildren and their families Kelly McClure and wife Cindy, Gary McClure and wife Diana both of Rocklin and Tom McClure and wife Kristy of Auburn, Ca. His first wife Joyce James Rogers preceded him in death. Earl loved his large extended family, which includes the James, Heidrick and Gnoss families of Yolo County.

Earl served in the U.S. Army in World War II. He was a retired heavy equipment operator and a fifty-three year member of Operating Engineers Local No. 3. His co-workers at Madonna Construction of San Luis Obispo were close and valued friends. Earl was bigger than life and never met a stranger. His family and friends will sadly miss him.

No visitation is scheduled prior to services. A graveside service will be held at Monument Hill Memorial Park, 35036 County Road 22, Woodland, Ca. at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2003, with Reverend Elmer Prout officiating. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Sutter VNA & Hospice, 1836 Sierra Gardens Dr., Ste. 130, Roseville, Ca. 95661; the American Legion Post 77, 523 Bush St., Woodland, Ca. 95695; or the charity of the donor's choice.

Kraft Bros. Funeral Directors of Woodland is assisting the family with arrangements.

ROGERS

LeAnn L. Rogers

LeAnn Louise Rogers died on Jan. 15, 2000, in Woodland. Born on July 18, 1960, in Woodland, to Calvin H. and Edean Ann Hubert, she was 39.

She was a lifelong resident of Yolo County and was a homemaker all of her adult life.

She graduated from Woodland High School in 1978 and served in the U.S. Army from 1979 to 1980.

She is survived by her husband, William J. Rogers Sr. of Woodland; three children, Brandon Rogers, Shawn Rogers and William J. Rogers Jr., all of Woodland; parents, Calvin H. and Edean A. Hubert of Woodland; three brothers, Kevin L. Hubert and his wife Debbie, Edward A. Hubert and his wife Rayna and Mark E. Hubert and his wife Barbara, all of Woodland; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Joseph Jr. and Phyllis Rogers of Woodland; and three brothers-in-law, Joseph Rogers of Woodland and his wife Jennean, Robert Rogers of Woodland and his wife Cindy, and Philip Robers of Mapleton, Ore., and his wife Donna.

A graveside memorial service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday at Monument Hill Memorial Park, Woodland.

Memorial donations may be made to the Yolo Federal Credit Union in the name of Phyllis Rogers and the children of LeAnn L. Rogers.

McNary's Chapel is assisting the family with the arrangements.

ROJO

Christopher Contrera Rojo

Christopher Contrera Rojo passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, May 22, 2004, at the age of 90. Born March 29, 1914 in Pahala (the big island) of the Hawaiian Islands, he came to California with his family as a child. Chris was the youngest of nine children born to Fernando and Antonia Rojo, of Spain. He went to grade school in the Olive School house and started working at a young age, farming with his family. He had five children.

He re marriage in 1954, to Carmen Martin Rojo, and together they raised their children, as she had a daughter of her own. Chris was an honorable and honest man, with many trades in his lifetime. He first worked in produce in San Francisco, then as a farmer. He then owned a hardware store until he owned and operated the Winters Food Center with his wife from 1954 until 1972.

Together they assisted many farming families, running tabs for their groceries until their harvest came in. He worked at Travis Air Force Base for the love of airplanes. Then later, he worked for Morgan Ranch and finally, Mariani Nut Company, until his retirement. Christ had a brilliant mind. While working for Mariani's he invented a nutcracker device that is still in use to this day. He was known for having a strong grip, hard work, a loving heart and a good story.

Chris and Carmen loved traveling together to many places, such as Spain, throughout Europe and to his native land, Hawaii.

He was always working with his hands to create or invent things, woodworking, mechanics and farming equipment were just a few of his interests.

Chris is survived by his sisters, Josie Mermod and her husband, Jack, of San Leandro, Delores Gregg and her husband Bill, of Sacramento; son Fred Rojo, of Woodland; daughters Isabel Rojo, of Massachusetts, Antoinette Fischer and her husband Roger, of Arizona, Mary Coleman and her husband Rae, of Sacramento and his stepdaughter Carmen Parker and her husband Dale. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carmen Martin-Rojo, his parents, his infant son Johnny Rojo, his brother Dick Rojo, sisters Isabel Martin, Lita Yanci and Antoinette Barranco.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, May 26, from 4-6 p.m. at the Davis Funeral Chapel, at 116 D Street, in Davis.

Per Chris' request, there will be a graveside service at the Winters Cemetery on Thursday, May 27, at 2 p.m. A gathering of family and friends will be held at Wesley Hall, 201 Russell Street, immediately following the service.

VIDES

Armando Salvador Vides

Armando S. Vides died on Tuesday Feb. 12, 2002 at his residence in Woodland. A native of El Salvador, he was born on March 26, 1923 to Miguel and Esther (Bolanes) Vides.

Mr. Vides attended schools in El Salvador and later, coming to the United States in 1943, attended a junior college in San Francisco. He worked at various trucking companies as rate clerk for most of his life. He was a proud member of Teamsters Local #586; having been a member for 26 years prior to retiring.

After retiring he pursued interests in computer science according to his family. Mr. Vides volunteered his talents in local Daly City Schools Adult Education program as assistant instructor for English as a second language. According to his family Mr. Vides was a strong believer in the power of education.

He remained connected with his heritage and visited his home country as often as possible. A previous resident of Daly City, he moved to Woodland two years ago.

While in Woodland he was active in the Senior Center Activities and was a parishioner at Holy Rosary Catholic Church.

Mr. Vides is survived by his wife, Maria (Saade) Vides of Woodland. Also surviving Mr. Vides are his daughters, Marta Vides De Gonzalez and her husband Angel of San Francisco; Maria Elena Romero and her companion Blake Rushworth of Davis; and Nannette Vides of El Sobrante. He is also survived by his sisters Lucy Ayala of Redwood City and Aida Vides of San Francisco. Grandchildren Joseph Anthony Romero, USN Submariner at Kingsbay, Georgia; Elena Christina Romero of Davis; and Gabriel Roberto Rios of El Sobrante. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

A requiem mass is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Holy Rosary Church, Friday, Feb. 15, 2002 with interment to follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Woodland. Friends are welcome for visitation Friday, Feb. 15, 2002 from 10 a.m. to noon at Kraft Bros. Funeral Directors, 175 Second Street, Woodland.

The family requests any donations in Armando's memory be made to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation or Yolo County Hospice, P.O. Box 1014, Davis, Ca, 95617-1014.

VINE

Susan I. Vine

Susan I. Vine died Friday, Aug. 23, 2002 in the Woodland Memorial Hospital at age 51. Mrs. Vine was born May, 1, 1951 in Martinez to the late Fabian and Garnett Flores.

Mrs. Vine was a resident of Yolo County for the last four years. She was a certified nurses assistant at the Woodland Skilled Nursing Facility for five years. She was loved by all and she will be greatly missed.

Mrs. Vine is survived by her husband of 34 years Benjamin E. Vine of Oregon. Son, Earle E. Vine of Boise, Idaho. Daughters, Catherine M. Vine of Pinole and Peggy Ann Vine of Yolo. Also surviving her are nine grandchildren. Other survivors include five brothers, Joseph, William (Bill), John, Jack Jr., and Glen Flores. Sisters, Ruth Roddy, Linda Flores and Mary Flores and 13 nieces and nephews.

A private family service was held.

Condolences may be sent to 1707 Canyon Drive, Pinole, 94564.

VILLAGRANA

Salvador "Sal" Castillo Villagrana

Salvador "Sal" Castillo Villagrana died unexpectedly in San Ramon Regional Hospital Saturday, May 11, 2002, at age 48.

Born March 4, 1954, in Zacatecas, Mexico, Mr. Villagrana was the son of the late Candelario and Enedina (Castillo) Villagrana. He was a resident of Woodland for 30 years and worked for Western Geophysical for 15 years. Later he worked for various construction companies for 15 years, the most recent of which was Western Pacific Homes in Fairfield. He was a very hard worker and a "Jack of all trades' which gave him the deserving name of "True Handyman, " family members reported.

According to his family members, "he loved to golf and fish with his family and friends, but his most enjoyable moments were going to watch his grandchildren's softball and baseball games." As an avid Raider Fan some of his memorable moments were at home with his family watching the Raider's Games on television.

Mr. Villagrana is survived by his wife, Linda Villagrana of Woodland; children, Annette Anchondo and husband Gil Hernandez, Steve Anchondo and wife Channan and Teresa Jimenez, all of Woodland; and grandchildren, Andreya and Alyssa Hernandez, Hillaree, Steven Jr., Jacob and Hollee Anchondo and Ariana and Faith Jimenez, all of Woodland.

He is also survived by his sisters, Esperanza and Antonia Villagrana of Zacatecas, Mexico, Victoria Calderon and husband Angel, Teresa Munoz and husband Robert, Della Harper and husband Roger; brothers, Dennis, Richard and Robert Gallegos, all of Woodland; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Mary and Victor Gallegos, both of Woodland; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A vigil service is scheduled at 8 p.m., Thursday, May 16, at McNary's Chapel, Woodland.

The funeral Mass is scheduled to be said at 10 a.m., Friday, May 17, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Woodland, with interment to follow at Monument Hill Memorial Park.

McNary's Chapel of Woodland is assisting the family with arrangements.

VILLANUEVA

Gilbert C. Villanueva

Gilbert C. Villanueva died Oct. 9, 2003, at his home in Davis. Born in Chandler, Ariz., on Feb. 16, 1930, he was 73.

He was the caring husband of 48 years to Helen. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesus and Josephina, and brothers, Jerry, George and Joe.

He is survived by his brothers, Harold, Dick and Ralph and sister, Carmen.

He will be truly missed by his children and their families: Dan, his wife, Marie, and three sons, Tony, Michael and Troy; Ted, his wife, Andrea, a daughter, Emily, and a son, Alex; Jim, and a daughter, Samantha; Rita, and a daughter, Leah, and son, Alberto; Glilbert, his wife, Angela, and four daughters, Crystal, Chelsea, Kelli and Christina and son, James; and a great-granddaughter, Julia; Inez, her husband, Henry Timm, and daughters, Elena and Cammie.

Gilbert "Papa V" loved being with his family and friends, going on Pat's Reno Tours, the San Francisco 49ers and Giants, sports channels and playing the lotto.

He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. In August 2003, he was honored for his service in the Korean War by the Students and Citizens for Korean War Veterans.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 16, 2003, at St. James Church in Davis. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Teo Villanueva Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Ralph Villanueva, 5065 Veranda Terrace, Davis, CA, 95616.
