Robert "Bob" Humphrey Hastings
Robert "Bob" Humphrey Hastings died in Santa Monica Tuesday, July 2, 2002, at age 62.
Born Dec. 31, 1939, in Vicksburg, Miss., Mr. Hastings had been a Yolo County resident for six years. He was a true renaissance man. He was the son of a career army officer, the late Col. Wallace H. Hastings Sr. and artist, Virginia Hastings. He attended South Kent Prep School in Connecticut and graduated from Princeton University with a bachelor of arts degree. He was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to attend and teach at the University of Caen in France where he earned a doctorate in economics. He received his law degree from Boalt Hall and later became a certified public accountant. According to his family members, "he was a great teacher, poet, historian and curmudgeon. He loved a good argument."
Mr. Hastings is survived by his wife, Annie Hastings; sons, Andrew, Guil and Brad Hastings; brothers, Wallace and Charles; and seven nieces and nephews.

HATCHER
Elizabeth Duffy Hawk Traynham Hatcher
Elizabeth Duffy Hawk Traynham Hatcher died Sept. 5, 2001, at her home in Woodland, surrounded by family and friends. Born in Marysville on Feb. 24, 1921, to prominent Sutter Basin farmers William and Hazel Duffy, she was 80 years old. She was raised in Robbins and graduated from Yuba City High School in 1938.
A graduate of Sacramento Junior College and UC Berkeley, she marriage Lt. John Hawk in 1942, and they lived in Yuba City until his death in 1948. She moved to Woodland in 1949, where she lived ever since then.
A longtime teacher in the Woodland Joint Unified School District, she specialized in preschool education, elementary education and special education, as well as working with the Head Start program for several years. She was the district's first reading specialist. She retired from teaching in 1986.
Her activities included being a Pink Lady at Woodland Memorial Hospital and being a docent at Gibson House and at the Woodland Opera House. She volunteered with Citizens Who Care, a program that provides respite work for families of Alzheimer's patients. She was also a former member of Omega Nu and member and past president of the Woodland Shakespeare Club.
Above all, her greatest passion was foreign travel. She had the opportunity to visit many countries in her post-retirement years.
She marriage Russell "Buzz" Traynham in 1957, who preceded her in death in 1961.
She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Kelsey Hatcher of Woodland; and her children, Joann Hawk of Kenwood, Shelly (Hawk) Larson of Woodland, Mimi (Hawk) Simonson of St. Helena and Duffy Traynham of Windsor.
She is also survived by her stepchildren, Nancy (Hatcher) McCullough of Mineral, John Hatcher of Woodland and Bill Hatcher of Yolo; her sister, Marge (Duffy) Fairlee of Fort Bragg; seven grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Friends are invited to attend a memorial service Sunday at 2 p.m. at McNary's Chapel, 458 College St. in Woodland. Charitable donations may be made in her name to Yolo Hospice, P.O. Box 1014, Davis, CA 95617.
HATCHER
Thomas “Tom” Earle Hatcher
Thomas “Tom” Earle Hatcher died in a Woodland convalescent hospital on Saturday, May 4, 2002, at age 91.
He was born April 6, 1911, in Woodland, to Earle Kelsey Hatcher and Venus Virginia Bullivnt Hatcher.
He was a direct descendant of an old pioneer family, William Hatcher and Sarah Mullins Hatcher, who had moved to Yolo County in 1853.
Mr. Hatcher attended local elementary schools and Woodland High School and marriage his wife, Lucia Mae Reynolds, on March 7, 1935.
They lived in Woodland before moving to the family ranch at county roads 15 and 97, where he farmed with his brother, Kelsey Hatcher.
He also owned and operated Hatcher Communications Service for many years before retiring in the early 1980s.
Mr. Hatcher enjoyed farming, gunsmithing, photography, mining, hunting, faceting precious gemstones, electronics, music, dancing, playing his harmonica and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Lucia; daughters, Sharon Hatcher, Judy Follansbee and Dianna Kelley and her husband, Elvis, all of Woodland; grandchildren, Shannon Kelley, Thomas Follansbee, Jim Follansbee and Susan Wright and her husband, Mike, all of Woodland; and great-grandchild, Chad Follansbee of Woodland.
He is also survived by his brother, Kelsey Hatcher of Woodland as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service is planned for 2 p.m., Thursday, May 9, at Mary’s Cemetery, county roads 15 and 98.

HATTABAUGH
Betty Joe Hattabaugh
Mrs. Betty Joe Hattabaugh passed away at her home in Vacaville on Sept. 2, 2002, following a long illness. Born on May 10, 1929, in Heavener, Oklahoma, she was 73 years old.
Mrs. Hattabaugh was a 38-year resident of Vacaville. She worked for American Home Foods for 30 years as a line worker. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and taught Sunday School for over 40 years. She loved doing things for her family and enjoyed her grandchildren and church. She had a strong faith in life in the Lord, a positive attitude and great sense of humor and she loved people.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Ernie; daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda Sims, of Vacaville, Bev and Ray Rucci of Long Island, New York, Billie and Anthony Melton of Troy, Alabama; brothers Pete and Jim Underwood of Oklahoma, Jack Underwood of Las Vegas, Nevada and Floyd Hunt of Hawaii; sisters-in-law Teresa Manas and Marry Hattabaugh, both of Winters, Mary Anderson and Lanetta Parsons of Vacaville; brothers-in-law Gene Kizziar of Arkansas and Kenneth Hattabaugh of Texas; nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.
A visitation was held on Wednesday, Sept. 4 at the Nadeau Family Funeral Home in Vacaville. Funeral services are Thursday, Sept. 5, 2002 at Trinity Baptist Church, located at the corner of Monte Vista Avenue and Eldridge Streets in Vacaville, with Pastor Milton Steck officiating. Interment will follow at the Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Hattabaugh's name to Kaiser Hospice, 975 Sereno Drive, Vallejo, CA, or to Trinity Baptist Church.
HATTON
Virginia "Ginny" Louise Hatton
Virginia "Ginny" Louise Hatton died peacefully in her Sacramento home on the morning of March 25, 2004. She was 83.
She was born Virginia Louise Lowe on Oct. 9, 1920, in Fiddletown. Until her early 20s, she lived in Davis. She attended the UC Davis and was named Miss Davis in 1939.
After leaving Davis, she lived briefly with her family in Long Beach but spent the majority of her life in Sacramento.
She was a loving mother and dedicated to her children and her home, her family said. She enjoyed spending time in her garden and was rarely seen without her dog, Rusty.
She is survived by a sister, Evelyn Ramser and her husband O.W. Ramser of Paradise; two daughters, Joy Schmiedt of Sacramento and Christine Myers and her husband Hank of Redmond, Wash.; two sons, Peter Hatton Jr. and his wife Liz of Sacramento, and Douglas Hatton and his wife Margee of Davis; seven grandchildren: Teresa Murray and her husband Mike of Rocklin, Richard Schmiedt and his wife April of Elk Grove, Todd Myers and his wife Maria of Auburn, Wash., Nancy Berejikian and her husband Mihran of Sacramento, Kimberly Moss and her partner Anna of Paw Paw, Mich., Charlie Hatton and Kelly Hatton of Davis; and six great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Davis Cemetery, 820 Pole Line Road.
HAUDER
Wayne Frederick Hauder
Wayne Frederick Hauder died unexpectedly at Sutter Davis Hospital Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2002, at age 68.
Born Oct. 5, 1934, in Sparks, Nev., Mr. Hauder had been a Woodland resident for the past 40 years. He was the son of the late Tracy Frederick and Doris (Bean) Hauder. After attending grammar and high schools in Nevada, he had joined the U.S. Air Force, and served during the post Korean War period.
After relocating to Yolo County, he had been employed for the past 11 years as a quality control inspector with Fleetwood Manufactured Homes. According to his family members, "in addition to his love of the sport of golf, he was an avid builder of model planes, and especially loved the World War II fighter aircraft. Mostly friends remember him for his very detailed efforts in reproducing exact replicas of the original models."
Mr. Hauder is survived by his former wife, Hazel E. Hauder; daughter, Shilee E. Perez and husband Ricardo of Woodland; stepdaughter, Jeannie Mooneyham and husband Danny Ray of Oroville; grandchildren, Danny McCombs Jr. of Oroville, Billy McCombs and wife Sabrina of Grass Valley, and Felicia, Shamya and Joshua Ledford, Ricardo Perez Jr., Angel, Conchita and Mercedes Perez, all of Woodland; and great-grandchildren, Kevin and Kyle McCombs of Grass Valley, Michael McCombs of Yuba City, and Ricardo Perez III of Woodland.
A memorial service celebrating the life of Mr. Hauder is scheduled at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, at Woodland Christian Center, 39839 Road 17A, Woodland. Pastor Richard Sinclair will officiate. Friends and family members are invited to attend. If directions are needed, contact the church at 666-1070. Interment will be private.
The family requests memorials be directed to Woodland Christian Center Building Fund, in his behalf.

HAUGHN
Olivia O. Haughn
Olivia Haughn died in Woodland, Friday, April 19, 2002 at age 73.
Born March 24, 1929 in Elizabeth, Ark, Mrs. Haughn spent most of her adult life working in the nursing field in the Bay Area and Woodland.
After her retirement she moved to Bentonville, Ark. She returned to Woodland in 1995, where she became active in the community. She volunteered at the senior center and the care car program where she was honored as volunteer of the year in 2001.
Ms. Haughn is survived by her daughter Debi Holmqvist and husband Tord, of Woodland; and son Denny Strutton and wife Vicki, of Bentonville, Ark.
She is also survived by grandchildren, Lorie and Danny Brennan, Tammy and Dean Crewdson, and Hans Holmqvist all of Woodland; Travis and Elizabeth Strutton and Amber and Joe Cordasco of Bentonville, Ark., Sherice Marinda of Orville and Larry Faria of Washington and 12 great grandchildren.
She was also survived by her siblings, Velma and Lloyd Stockton of Woodland, Olga Berg of Arkansas, and Harlen and Culen Haughn and Tollie Haughn of Missouri.
Ms. Haughn was preceded in death by her daughter Sue Lynch in November 2001 and brother Roy Haughn.
A memorial service is scheduled for 4 p.m., today, Tuesday, at the Woodland Christian Church, 509 College St.
