Sebastiana A. Tapaoan
Sebastiana A. Tapaoan died in Cottonwood Healthcare Center, Woodland Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2002, at age 95.
Born Jan. 27, 1906, in the Philippines, to the late Antero and Roberta Aguinaldo, Mrs. Tapaoan came to the United States in 1973 to live with her daughter in Woodland. She was a homemaker all of her adult life.
Mrs. Tapaoan is survived by her children, Macario Tapaoan and wife Luz of Hawaii, Venancia Aguinaldo and Maria Tapaoan, both of Woodland.
She is also survived by her niece who was raised by Mrs. Tapaoan, Aida Aguistin and husband Angel of Hawaii; grandchildren, Gloria Tupinic, Emmie Watanabe, Lyn Albano, Fe Nakamura, Nellie Rivera, Marlo Tapaoan, Roldan Aguistin and Graham Aguistin, all of Hawaii, Jerry Aguinaldo of Woodland, Joseph Diaz of Mission Viejo and Mary Jane Tapaoan of Woodland; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sisters, Rufina Del Rosario and Isabel Menor, both of the Philippines; and numerous nieces and nephews in the Philippines, Hawaii and California.
Mrs. Tapaoan was preceded in death by her husband, Florencio Tapaoan; five sisters and two brothers.
A vigil service is scheduled at 5 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 3, at McNary's Chapel, 458 College St., Woodland.
A funeral mass is scheduled to be said at 10 a.m., Monday, Feb. 4, at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, with interment to follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery.
McNary's Chapel of Woodland is assisting the family with arrangements.
TAPIA
August G. Tapia
August G. Tapia of Davis died June 1, 2000, at Woodland Memorial Hospital. Born on May 11, 1902, in Arequipa, Peru, he was 98 years old.
He came to California in 1923 and had lived in Davis since 1957. He served in the National Guard during World War II. While living in Davis, he worked for Armco Steel Co. for many years. His favorite pastime was bowling with friends and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Violet E. Tapia.
He is survived by his children, Sylvia Johnson and her husband Richard of Roseville and Ken Tapia and his wife Tina of Citrus Heights; four grandchildren, Michael Johnson, Kimberly White, Denise Tapia and Kevin Tapia; a great-grandchild, Taylor White; and his sister, Dora deArispe of Lima, Peru.
Friends are invited to attend the funeral Monday at 11 a.m. at the Davis Funeral Chapel, 116 D St. Burial will follow at the Davis Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that remembrances be directed to the Davis Senior Center, 646 A St., Davis, CA 95616.
TARANGO
Joe Luis "Lil Joe" Tarango, Jr
Joe Luis "Lil Joe" Tarango Jr. of Dinuba died Thursday, Nov. 29, 2005 at age 31.
Mr. Tarango was born March 17, 1974 in Dinuba. He attended elementary and junior high school in Dinuba and Cache Creek High School in Woodland.
Survivors include Mr. Tarango's son, Joe Luis Tarango III and his mother, Norma Delgado, both of Woodland; his parents, Sarah Tarango of Concord and Joe Tarango Sr. of California; his sisters, Stephanie Rivera Creer and her husband Lonell Creer Sr. of Hercules and Lisa Perez and her husband Alex of Oakland; his nieces, Dominique, Danielle and Renee Creer; and his nephew, Lonell Creer Jr. all of Hercules. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Paul and Marie Rivera and his cousins, Denise and Alfred.
Services: A memorial service is scheduled for 5 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7 at Outreach Church of Christ, 151 W. Main St., Suite C, Woodland (across from Woodhaven Lanes). Pastor Harry Washington will officiate. Cremains will be returned to the family. The Miller Memorial Chapel and Crematory in Woodlake is assisting the family with arrangements.
TATE
Karmel Tate
She taught third grade at West Davis Elementary School from 1953 to 1970. She and her husband Ralph lived in their house on Oeste Drive from 1954 until last year when poor health made it necessary for them to move to Palm Gardens, a managed care facility in Woodland.
She loved to travel and had many exciting experiences. While returning from the Philippines, the ship she was traveling on was bombed by Japan prior to World War II.
She enjoyed playing bridge and was proud of her accomplishments over many years in the master's swimming program.
She was known for her random acts of kindness and will be missed by many friends, her family says.
She is survived by her husband Ralph and son Milton. A memorial service is pending.

TAUZER
Suzanne Faye (Herbert) Tauzer
Suzanne Faye (Herbert) Tauzer died, after an extended battle with pulmonary fibrosis, in her Woodland home Sunday, May 30, 2004, at age 80.
Born March 4, 1924, in Long Beach, Mrs. Tauzer had been a Yolo County resident for 16 years. She grew up in Rialto, and resided in Sacramento from 1956 to 1972, before relocating to Davis.
Survivors include her daughters, Andrea Fowler Brewer of Fair Oaks, and Linda Fowler Gilson of El Dorado Hills; and grandchildren, Elisa Brewer and Darren Brewer. She was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, William J. Tauzer, in January.
The family requests memorials be directed to Yolo County Hospice. Arrangements are under the direction of Davis Funeral Chapel.

TAUZER
William J. Tauzer
William J. Tauzer died Jan. 3, 2004, at his family's ranch near Davis, after a short battle with cancer. He was 83.
He was born Jan. 27, 1920, on the family homestead - about a mile from where he passed away - in the Willow Slough district. His parents, George W. and Roberta (Pettygrove) Tauzer, were both descendants of California pioneer families.
In 1938 he graduated from Woodland High School, where he played on the football team and was active in the Plainfield 4-H Club.
After high school he continued farming while attending classes at UC Davis, until the outbreak of World War II.
During the war, he served in the Merchant Marine and in the U.S. Army aboard transport and smaller vessels. On Feb. 13, 1943, the tug on which he was a crewman ran aground on a rocky Alaskan cape during a blinding snowstorm. He volunteered to swim a line to shore, enabling 12 men to escape drowning. For his actions he was awarded the Silver Lifesaving Medal and Meritorious Service Medal.
After the war's end, he continued on in the 8th Army, which was occupying Japan. He captained a small Harbor Patrol craft out of Yokohama that patrolled Tokyo Bay.
In 1948 he retired as a sergeant and returned home. It was at this same time he met Jeanne M. Burley, an office worker in the War Department in San Francisco. They soon marriage and settled on the family ranch, and he re-enrolled at UCD under the G.I. Bill.
In 1950 a car the couple was traveling in was struck by a truck. He suffered a broken hip, crippling him for life. In spite of his handicap, he managed to run and develop his ranch from raw land.
Following a long battle with cancer, his wife died in 1970.
He met Suzanne Fowler and they marriage in 1973. He continued ranching, operating a cow-calf operation for many years, later in partnership with his son.
He served as a volunteer fireman in the Plainfield and Springlake Fire Districts and as a member of the Farm Bureau. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, boating and playing cards.
He will be remembered for his perseverance, strong sense of ethics and fair play, good nature and sense of humor, his family said.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jeanne, brother Edwin and granddaughter Tracey Tauzer.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Suzanne Tauzer of Davis; stepdaughters, Andrea Brewer of Fair Oaks and Linda Gilson of Boulder Creek; daughter, Susie Tauzer of Woodland; and son, Ted Tauzer, his wife, Shelley, and their children, Jeremy, Todd, Bryan, Amy and Stephanie, all of Davis.
He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, George Tauzer of Santa Rosa and his wife, Janet, Robert Tauzer of Pollock Pines and his wife, Dolores, Nadine Burns of Dallas and her husband, Don, Marlene Federwitz of Sacramento and her husband, Don, as well as sister-in-law Mary Tauzer of Korbel.
A memorial service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Grace Valley Christian Center, 27173 County Road 98, in Davis.

TAYLOR
Doris Glyn Taylor
Doris Glyn Taylor died Nov. 12, 2005, at Courtyard Healthcare. She was 94.
A memorial service begins at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4, at Davis Community Church. A reception will follow the service.
Born in Bonnamie, La. on April 9, 1911, she was the fourth of seven children. Since her father helped set up new lumber mills for the Long Belle Lumber Company, her family lived in many different areas in the south when she was a child.
She met her future husband, William Hillman Taylor, when he was working as a reporter for the Longview, Wash. “Daily News.” They wed on Aug. 7, 1933, in Longview.
Following his discharge from the army, they settled in the San Francisco Bay Area, where he retired from working at Blue Cross of Northern California, where he was the director of underwriting for many years.
She and her husband retired to Ashland, Ore. in 1971, where they were very active in the Shakespearean Festival. In 1977, they moved to Grass Valley, where she served as a deacon of the Sierra Presbyterian Church. After her husband's death in 1984, she continued to live in Grass Valley until 1996, when she relocated to Davis to be closer to family. She was active in the PEO and Order of the Eastern Star organizations.
She is survived by William Taylor and his wife Dea of Sacramento; a brother, M.J. Ferguson of Oklahoma City, Okla.; and 9 nieces and nephews.
