Estella H. Tamayo
Mrs. Tamayo died on Wednesday, April 28, 2004, at Woodland Memorial Hospital following a long illness. She was 88 years old. She lived in Woodland for 42 years. Mrs. Tamayo attended perpetual Catholic School in San Antonio, Texas.
Mrs. Tamayo worked in food service, retail and was a devoted, loving mother to her children. Estella was loved and admired by many, but by no one more than her family. She will be truly missed.
Mrs. Tamayo is survived by her daughters, Beatrice Kirby of Texas, Bertha Losoya of Vacaville, and Irma Mora of San Diego; son-in-law Benjamin Losoya of Vacaville and 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
Mrs. Tamayo was preceded in death by her son Phillip Gonzales Sr.
Visitation and Rosary are scheduled for 7 p.m., Monday, May 3, at McNary's Funeral Chapel, 458 College St., Woodland. A funeral is scheduled for Tuesday, May 4, at 10 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 305 Walnut St. Interment will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery on West Street. A reception will follow at Holy Rosary Parish next to the church.
TAMAYO
Socorro Echevarria Tamayo
Socorro Echevarria Tamayo died in Woodland Memorial Hospital Tuesday, April 9, 2002, at age 75.
Born Aug. 6, 1926, in Santana, Guanajuato, Mexico, Mrs. Tamayo was the daughter of Jose Guadalupe and Maria (Arellano) Echevarria. She had been a resident of Knights Landing and Yolo County for the past 12 years, where she lived and worked with her husband, Rafael Tamayo.
She was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church of Knights Landing and loved being able to provide a happy home for her children and grandchildren.
Mrs. Tamayo is survived by her husband, sisters and brothers and numerous nieces and nephews in California and Mexico.
A prayer vigil and rosary will be held at Kraft Bros. Chapel, 175 Second St., Woodland, today at 7 p.m. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m.
Interment will be at Panteon Municipal Cemetery in Ciudad del Sol, La Piedad, Michoacan, Mexico, on Monday, April 15, 2002.

TANABE
Tamiye "Tami" Tanabe
Tamiye "Tami" Tanabe was born in a tent in Dunnigan on July 28, 1922, and died one day short of her 82nd birthday on July 27, 2004. Her father delivered her, the second of seven children born to the Nagasugi family, first-generation Japanese-Americans.
She grew up in Woodland where she graduated from Woodland High School. After graduation, she went to San Francisco City College. It was during this time that she met Kyogo "Tom" Tanabe, whom she marriage in 1942.
With the advent of World War II, she and her family were interned in a camp in Amache, Colo. Shortly after being sent to Colorado, Tami left to marry Tom, who was due to be sent out with his Army unit to Europe.
After the war, the couple lived briefly in Chicago before returning to the West Coast, first to San Francisco, and eventually to Berkeley where they would live for more than 50 years.
As a mother with three small children, she was active in Girl and Boy Scouts, quilting and St. Mark's Episcopal Church, right across the street from where she lived. She regularly attended worship and helped each Thursday with the preparation of the Sunday bulletin.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom.
She is survived by her three sisters, Yaye "Florence" Yoshimine of El Cerrito, Mary Kasai of Lincoln and Toshiye Murakami of Roseville; two daughters, Candace Cramer of Davis and Emily Berg of Petaluma; five grandchildren, Lara Salviati of Iowa, Jessica Berg of Elk Grove, Ethan Davis of Davis, and Matthew and Mark Cramer of Davis; and two great-grandchildren, Grace and Tai Salviati of Iowa.
Memorial services will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Episcopal Church of St. Martin, 640 Hawthorn Lane in Davis.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Martin's Memorial Fund. Another memorial service will be held at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Berkeley at a later date.
TANDY
Margaret TANDY
(1818–1890)
Mrs. Margaret Tandy, aged 72 years, a native of Ireland, died at her home at Cottonwood, near Madison, on Wednesday last. The funeral took place yesterday, from the family residence, the remains being taken to Woodland for burial. The deceased lady leaves a son and daughter to mourn the loss of a mother.

TANDY
William Francis Tandy
William Francis Tandy died at Stollwood Convalescent Hospital in Woodland Thursday, March 10, 2005.
William was the third of three sons born to Irish/Dutch American parents George Edward and Elizabeth Jane Seabold Tandy.
William was born June 14, 1912. He was raised in what was then known as Cottonwood Township, just south of Madison.
He graduated from Esparto High School.
Early in his young life he made his living by driving a school bus and by driving trucks.
In 1942, at the age of 30, William enlisted in the United States Navy.
He became a Seabee within the Navy and served in the South Pacific during World War II.
In 1945, William returned home to the valley that he loved.
William marriage Iola in July 1945, and with her, continued to raise her daughter Elizabeth Jane Tandy.
William, Iola and Elizabeth went to Maine, where William would finish his military service.
Returning to the valley in October 1945, William returned to his trucking business, which he later sold, to be come an employee of Syar & Harms (Madison Sand & Gravel). William would retire from Madison Sand & Gravel in 1977.
The most important aspect of William's life was the family that he loved more than anything.
William and Iola had their daughter, Elizabeth, and during what was a difficult time for everyone, Elizabeth's best friend, Barbara Heartle, became a part of their family. William and Iola built their current home in 1959 on land that was originally owned by William's parents. Elizabeth Tandy would become Elizabeth Pearson and have four children. William was completely devoted to his four grandchildren, and later to his five great-grandchildren and even later to his two great-great-grandsons. Barbara Heartle would become Barbara Hudson Brown and would have four children. To Barbara's children William was "Grandpa" also. Nothing gave William more pleasure than watching the successes and accomplishments of those that he loved. And nothing gave his family members more pleasure than being able to make him proud.
William is survived by his wife, Iola; daughter, Elizabeth "Betty" Pearson.
Grandchildren: Carla Pearson Lampman and her husband Vince and their daughter Brianna Lampman; Paula Pearson Covington and her husband Tom and their daughter Brandy Burns and her husband Mark and their sons, Justin and Garrett; Laura Pearson Buhrer and her husband David and their sons, Michael and Matthew; Jeffrey Pearson and his son Clarke. William is also survived by Barbara Heartle Hudson Brown and her husband Ernie and their children Patricia, William, Richard, Melinda and their families.
A memorial service will be held at St. John's Chapel, 135 Woodland Ave., Wednesday, March 16 at 2:30 p.m.
McNary's Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
TANSKI
Casimir Tanski
Casimir Tanski, 84, passed away on July 18, 2000, in Woodland, following a lengthy illness.
Mr. Tanski was born on Oct. 8, 1915, in Baltimore, Maryland. He was educated at the Passionist Seminary in Prasnysz, Poland, returning to the U.S. during World War II and resettling in Baltimore. After moving to California in 1951, he was employed for 26 years by the Greyhound Corporation in San Francisco. Retiring in 1978, Mr. Tanski operated a horse and cattle ranch west of Winters.
Survivors include his wife, Charlene Ladd Tanski of Winters; son, Charles Tanski; grandchildren, Michael and Elaine Tanski of Orinda; brother, Stanislaw Tanski of Poland; nieces and nephews, Gina and Paul Middleman of Esparto, and Wanda, Wojtek and Patrick Mizerski and Kasia Izdebska of Pittsburg. Mr. Tanski is also survived by a large extended family living in Poland.
A rosary was recited at McNary’s Chapel in Woodland on July 20, and a funeral Mass was held on July 21 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Winters. Burial followed at the Italian Cemetery in Colma.
TAYLOR
Dorothy M. Taylor
Dorothy M. Taylor died Jan. 3, 2001, at Kaiser Hospital in Sacramento, after a brief illness. She was 83.
She was born in Syracuse, N.Y., on Nov. 4, 1917. She moved to Southern California with her late husband, Donald Taylor, and children in 1957. Later, she and her husband moved to Davis. She had lived her 20 years at the time of her death.
With her husband, she managed Sequoia Apartments in Davis, then later she managed Aspen Village Apartments and Curbside Apartments. She was well-liked by her tenants, especially students, who were fond of chatting with her.
She was an award-winning artist who was especially fond of oil painting.
She is survived by two daughters, Janice Settelmeyer of Davis and Suzanne Hoehl of Los Alamitos; four grandsons, Chris, Scott and Jake Settelmeyer of Davis and Jason Gilbert of Huntington Beach; and a granddaughter, Allyson Hoehl of Los Alamitos. Another grandson, Gordon Gilbert, preceded her in death in 1983.
