Merlin Jay Taber, Jr.
Merlin Jay Taber, Jr. passed away in his Capay residence on Dec. 11, 1999 at his Capay residence on Dec. 11, 1999 at the age of 78. He was born in Woodland on Nov. 23, 1921 to the late Merlin J. and Esther Bressee Taber.
Mr. Taber was a lifelong resident of Yolo County. He attended Capay Elementary School and graduated from Esparto High School in 1939. He received his BA degree in 1943 from Stanford University, and he was commissioned a 2nd Lt. in the US Army Field Artillery in August 1943. Mr. Taber served 2 years in the USA as a motor officer and served one year in the Philippines and Japan, attaining the rank of captain before being discharged in 1946. He remained in the reserve until July 1956.
Mr. Taber marriage his fellow Stanford University Student, Anne Gardner, in August of 1943. After serving in the army, Mr. Taber was a farmer all of his life on the same almond orchard in the Capay Valley is grandfather and father farmed before him.
He was a member of the Landmark-Buckeye Masonic Lodge #195, serving as master in 1946 and was a member of the Lions Club for many years. Mr. Taber loved to travel and was very interested in the Civil War, and traveled to most of the Civil War battlefields.
Mr. Taber is survived by his wife of 56 years, Anne Gardner Taber; children, Karen Taber Garrison of Woodland, Merlin Taber III and wife, Jane, of San Francisco, Martha A. Taber, of Swampscott, Massachusetts and Lawrence M. Taber of Capay...[cut off]
TADLOCK
Robert Bruce Tadlock Sr.
Robert Bruce Tadlock Sr. died at his vacation home in Fort Bragg, Monday, Jan. 6, 2003, at age 62.
Mr. Tadlock was a lifelong resident of Yolo County. He was involved in the family trucking business most of his adult life. According to his family members, "he enjoyed spending time with family and friends and fishing along the Mendocino Coast. He was truly the nucleus of his family, as devoted to them as they were to him. He focused his attention on the younger generation, always alert as to their whereabouts and activities."
He is survived by his wife, Alysia Tadlock; son, Bruce Tadlock and wife Susie; daughter, Christie Karlstad; son-in-law, Mitch Roath and wife Trish, all of Esparto; brother, Donnie Tadlock and grandchildren, Matt and Cody Tadlock, Marcus and Gretchen Karlstad and Meghan Roath, all of Esparto.
He is also survived by his mother, Audrey Tadlock Burris.
Mr. Tadlock was preceded in death by his father, James I Tadlock; daughter, Leslie Roath; and brothers, Jamie and Mike Tadlock.
A graveside service is scheduled at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10, at Capay Cemetery in Esparto.

TAFOYA
David Villa Tafoya
David Villa Tafoya passed away Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2003 surrounded by his loving family at Woodland Memorial Hospital. He was 67 years old. David was born in Yolo, California on June 14, 1936. He was the son of Maximiliano (Chano) and Maria Luisa Tafoya. He worked for EE Ludorff water well drilling company for 23 years, and moved on to UC Davis as an Animal Technician for 17 years. He retired three years ago. He also served in the United States Army for two years. The most he loved and enjoyed after his retirement was spending time with his children and especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed working in his yard and cooking and helping anyone in need. He also enjoyed shopping and talking to family and friends. He was always there for all of us when we needed him. He was the most loving husband, father and grandfather. Who we'll cherish always in our hearts.
He is survived by his wife Ruth Tafoya of 46 years. Children: son, David Tafoya Jr. and wife Vanessa of Sacramento. Daughters, Arlene Carston and husband Ron and Norma Tafoya, all of Woodland. Grandchildren, Anthony and Michael Tafoya, Serena Rios, Armando Tafoya, Rhiannon Sedwick and Julian Liberati. He is also survived by his sisters, Margaret Millen of Fairfield, Virginia Lopes and husband Joe of West Sacramento, Francis Vasquez of Woodland, Lillie Najar and husband John of Sacramento and brother, Rudy Tafoya of West Sacramento; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father Maximiliano (Chano) Tafoya and mother Maria Luisa Tafoya. His nephews, Ruben (Shorty) Trejo, Michael Najar, and Derrick Tafoya; and niece, Sonia Vasquez.
Memorials contributions may be sent to the Heart Association; or Diabetes Association.
A vigil will be held at McNary's Chapel on Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003 at 5 p.m. The funeral mass is scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003 with interment to follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery.

TAFOYA
Louise Mary Tafoya
Our dear Mother, Louise Mary Tafoya, died with all the grace with which she lived on Jan. 20, 2006 at the Sacred Heart Home for the Elderly. She was 86 years old.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Robert Soto Tafoya and her mother Juana Hernandez and father Macedonio Gonzales. She is survived by her son Robert R. Tafoya and his wife Gloria, son Ronald J. Tafoya and Linda Ganzer and her daughter Gloria Tafoya and Larry Love. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Ron Tafoya Jr., Carl Tafoya and his wife Lisa, Michael Tafoya and his wife Andrea, Angela Banks, Vincent Tafoya and his wife Rachel, Cindy Tafoya, Eric Ennis and his wife Aaiko and Manuel Souza and his wife Robin. She was also survived by her 14 great-grandchildren: Megan and Roxanne Tafoya of Illinois, Joshua, Justus, Petra and Faith Tafoya of Sacramento, Clayton and Erika Banks of Oakdale, Alexandra Tafoya of Kentucky, Olivia Ennis of Idaho, Devinn and Aaron Tafoya of Lincoln and Shane and Haley Souza of Woodland.
Surrounded and embraced with love, Louise was prepared for death with prayers, anointings and the presence of her sons Bob and Ron, her daughter Gloria, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her many nieces.
Her greatest gift was her humility and her quiet, unassuming way in which she cared for us all. We rejoice for her and we grieve for her.
A rosary will take place on Thursday, Jan. 26 at 7 p.m. at McNary's Chapel and the funeral Mass will be on Friday, Jan. 27 at 11 a.m. at Holy Rosary Church in Woodland.
TAFOYA
Mary G. Tafoya
Mary G. Tafoya died in Woodland Monday, Sept. 6, 2004 at age 90.
Mrs. Tafoya was born Sept. 4, 1914 in Turkey, Texas and was a long-time Yolo County resident. From 1957 to 1961, she owned Hartzell Ice Cream Fountain in Woodland and later was a cook at Driftwood Convalescent Home in Davis. After retiring, she became a volunteer for the Elderly Nutrition Program. Through her work with the program, Mrs. Tafoya earned an award from the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in 1992.
Survivors include Mrs. Tafoya's daughters Dolores "Lola" Montoya and her husband Joe, Juanita "Nicki" Martinez and her husband Tom, Anita "Mousey" Morales and her husband Joe, and her son Eddie Tafoya and his wife Aurora, all of Woodland, 17 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Eliseo Tafoya, son Alec "Duke" Tafoya and granddaughter Karen Martinez.
The family requests that memorials in Mrs. Tafoya's name be directed to Holy Rosary School, 301 Walnut St., Woodland or to the charity of the donor's choice.
Services: A rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 9 at Holy Rosary Church, 301 Walnut St., Woodland. A mass in her honor will be said 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 10 at Holy Rosary. McNary's Chapel of Woodland is assisting the family with arrangements.
TALAMANTES
Fidel Talamantes
Born March 30, 1920 in Benicia, Ca., Fidel was raised in Mexico, entered into rest on Tuesday, May 27, 2003, at the age of 83.
Fidel was marriage to Maria Rodriguez Talamantes for 53 years, and lived in West Sacramento for 54 years. Predeceased by son Rafael Issac Talamantes, he is survived by daughters, Rosa Loyd of Sacramento, Alice Austin of Woodland, Elena Talamantes, Irene Ronquillo of West Sacramento; sons David, Daniel, and Carlos Talamantes of West Sacramento; Grandchildren Jennifer and Jamie Austin, Matthew Talamantes, Thomas, Robert and Stephanie Loyd, Elizabeth, Veronica, Luis Ronquillo, Issac Garcia and Bryan Moreno, Deanna and Andrea Talamantes. Fidel is also survived by his brother Rodrigo Talamantes of Sacramento.
Fidel was a man of many virtues and many talents; a self-taught man and an energetic husband, father and friend. He lived an expressive life, and helped many people. His passing will leave a void in his family and friends' lives. He will be missed, and his spirit will always be in his loved one's hearts.
Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Monday, June 2 at 2 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints-Sacramento 10th Ward, 2905 11th Ave., Sacramento.
TAYLOR
Gerry Taylor
Gerry Taylor of Davis passed away in Davis on Oct. 5, 1999. Born on Sept. 19, 1926 in Los Angeles, she was 73 years old.
Mrs. Taylor was a lifelong resident of California. She was a dedicated community volunteer through her life. She was a graduate of Santa Anna High School and attended UC Los Angeles. She was an avid bridge player and loved all cultural events. She celebrated her 50th wedding anniversary in May of this year.
She is survived by her husband, Bob Taylor, of Davis; son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Laura Taylor of Somas; son Craig Taylor of Linwood; and daughters and sons-in-law Diana and Rick Baker of Winters, and Wendy and Jim Hoekema of Newburgh, New York; grandchildren, Colin, Sanford and Emily Hoekema of Newburgh, New York; Nils Taylor of Somas, and Richard, Raphael and Hazel Baker of Winters.
A memorial service will be held for family and friends at Mrs. Taylor's home on Saturday, Oct. 9, at 11 a.m. Flowers and memorial donations may be made to the Davis Arboretum, UC Davis.
