Pedro Cortez
Visitation was held on Monday, April 29, 2002 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a Vigil service commencing at 7 p.m. at the McNary-Moore Chapel in Colusa for 95-year-old Pedro Cortez who died on April 22, 2002 at Valley West Care Center in Williams.
Pedro was born on July 16, 1906 in GTO, Mexico and was a Colusa resident for 65 years. He was very fond of the outdoors and gardening. He was the recipient of many awards and ribbons from the Colusa County Fair for produce entries. His family has many fond memories and knew him as a good provider.
He is survived by his daughters, Mary Hemenway of Winters, Eustolia Virginia Huiza and her husband Agustin of Colusa, Josephine Mayfield and her husband Jay of San Bruno, Grace Cortez and her husband, Gil Cerrillo of Sacramento; sons, Adolfo "Smokey" and his wife Joan of Sacramento, Alfred and his wife Carolyn of Colusa, Robert of Sacramento and David of San Francisco. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Genoveva Cortez.
Funeral mass was held on Tuesday, April 30 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Burial followed at the Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Colusa. Funeral arrangements were under the directions of McNary-Moore Funeral Service of Colusa.
COUTEE
Karisa Elise Coutee
Karisa Elise Coutee died in Capay Valley as a result of injuries received in an automobile accident Monday, Nov. 25, 2002, at age 16.
Born Dec. 13, 1985, in Woodland, Karisa had been lifelong resident of Yolo County. She attended Arbuckle Elementary School, Lee Jr. High and Woodland High School.
Karisa loved singing, dancing and being with her friends. She also enjoyed writing poetry which was one of the many ways that she expressed her joys and pains of being a teenager. Making friends was one of the many things that she did best and her million dollar smile is something she freely shared with any and everyone.
Karisa leaves to cherish her memories, mother Elizabeth (Betsy) Maloney, of Davis; father, Dennis Coutee of Dunnigan; sister, Sanita Washington of Oklahoma; brothers, Dennis and Timmy Coutee of Woodland, Nikko Fulmore and Myles Bill of Davis; brother-in-law Doug Washington and niece Tayzyah of Oklahoma; nephew, Jaiden Coutee of Woodland; grandparents, Frank and Sarah Coutee of Dunnigan; aunts and uncles, Laura and Robert Johnson of Dunnigan, Patricia Expose of Woodland, Billy and Ruby Harrison of Woodland, Frank and Brenda Coutee of Dunnigan, Beverly Coutee of Dunnigan, Denise and Memo Garcia of Dunnigan, Roy Boughton of Dunnigan, Kate Fogle, Cheryl Swanson, Linda Reed and Bill Maloney and a host of cousins and friends.
Karisa was preceded in death by her nephew Dakiah Coutee.
A visitation is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, at McNary's Chapel.
A funeral service is scheduled at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, at New Life Christian Center, corner Scott and Hurlbut Streets in Madison.
Burial will take place in Monument Hill Memorial Park, Woodland.
The family requests memorials be directed to Yolo Federal Credit Union No. 50021.
McNary's Chapel of Woodland is assisting the family with arrangements.
COWENS
Connie Sue Cowens
Connie Sue Cowens died in Methodist Hospital, Sacramento after being hospitalized on New Years with pneumonia Monday, Jan. 7, 2002, at age 54.
Born July 4, 1947, in Okatia, Okla., Ms. Cowens resided near Tempe and Chandler, Ariz. where her father worked farming cotton and other crops and moving to Phoenix and working in the fish and chips restaurant her parent's owned and operated.
All four children were born in Phoenix, before moving to Lancaster, in with them in 1975. The family has resided in Sacramento since 1978.
Her son was a former resident of Woodland and attended the First Church of the Nazarene of Woodland.
According to the family members, "she was a caring homemaker and loved spending time with family, cooking and baking.
Since her birthday was on the fourth of July, there was always family barbecues to celebrate both events.
She also enjoyed outings to Reno, and took pride in showing her pool tournament trophies she had won in years past."
Ms. Cowens is survived by her daughters, Sandra Cowens and Loretta Dumont of Sacramento; sons, Jerry Cowens and Robert Cowens, also both of Sacramento; and granddaughter, Christina Cowens of Sacramento.
She is also survived by her sister, Brenda Szabo of Sacramento; and brother, James Cowens of Moulton, Ala.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ms. Cowens was preceded in death by her parents, Leona and Buster Cowens of Chandler, Ariz.; sisters, Shirley Young of Lancaster, Evelyn Goodman of Lakewood, Margie Barnett of Sacramento; and brothers, Jerry Cowens of Kingman, Ariz., Rick Cowens of Rochester, N.Y. and Buster Cowens, Jr. of Sonora.
Respecting the wishes of Ms. Cowens no services are scheduled.
CRACCHIOLO
Betty Lou Robbins Cracchiolo
Born Betty Lou Robbins in South Haven, Mich., she met and marriage Joe Cracchiolo while serving in the U.S. Air Force.
Purchasing what is now Cracchiolo's Market in 1961, the couple settled with their family in Woodland, where they lived and worked together for the past 44 years.
Mrs. Cracchiolo was a long time, active member of the Yolo Fliers Club and served as captain of the Women's Golf Group in 1975.
She is survived by Joe Cracchiolo, her husband of 51 years; her mother, Kathryn Robbins; sister, Joanne Magna of Watervliet, Michigan; daughter Kathy Sousa and husband Dan; son Mike Cracchiolo and wife Debbie; son John Cracchiolo and wife Kristen; daughter Jane Miguel and husband Leon; grandchildren Jason Sousa, Jenny and Shane Brown, Carissa Cracchiolo, Tony and Nicole Cracchiolo, Stephen Cracchiolo, Jay Miguel, Sammy Miguel, Katie Cracchiolo and Annie Cracchiolo; great-grandchildren Rylee and Emma Brown and Joey and Abby Cracchiolo.
She was preceded in death by her father, Orlando Robbins.

Services: A viewing is scheduled at Kraft Bros. Chapel on Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2005 from 4 to 6 p.m.
A vigil will be held at Holy Rosary Church Wednesday evening, Sept. 7, at 7 o'clock with Deacon Ed Kull officiating.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 8, at Holy Rosary Church with Father John Boll officiating.
Interment will immediately follow the mass at Monument Hill Memorial Park.
Family and friends are invited to attend.

CRAIG
Christopher Charles Craig
Christopher Charles Craig died at his home in Woodland, Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2004 at age 50.
Mr. Craig was born April 13, 1954 in Detroit and had been a Yolo County resident for 20 years. He was a 1972 graduate of Placer High School in Auburn and served in the U.S. Navy from 1972 to 1976. He worked for the California Department of Forestry as a firefighter and since 2000 had been a crossing guard.
Survivors include Mr. Craig's parents, Fred and Mary Craig of Woodland; his sons Michael, Keith, Kevin and Edward Craig, all of Woodland; his sisters Kathy Casey of Auburn, Roseanne Halcom of Los Angeles, Claire Craig of Sacramento, Cessy Craig of Vacaville, Anna Craig of Woodland, Mary Morriss and Meriam Craig, both of Oroville; his brothers Steve Craig of Davis, Timothy Craig of Fairfield and Frances and Anthony Craig, both of Woodland. Also surviving is his lifetime companion Roxanna Jean. Preceding him in death was his mother Margaret Patricia Craig.

CRAIG
Fredrick Charles Craig
Fredrick Charles Craig of Woodland died at Woodland Memorial Hospital Thursday, Sept. 15, 2005, at age 78.
Mr. Craig was born in Detroit, Mich., on Sept. 29, 1926. He graduated from Eisenhower High School in Rialto. He earned a bachelor degree in psychology from the University of Salt Lake City.
He served in the U.S. Navy for four years, U.S. Marines for two years and the U.S. Army National Guard for three years. Later, he worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Detroit for six years. He also worked in the real estate and insurance industries. Most recently he volunteered as a crossing guard.
Survivors include Mr. Craig's wife Mary Craig of Woodland; his daughters, Mary Madeline Morris of Paradise, Francine Cassidy of Las Vegas, Katherine Casey of Auburn, Roseanne Halcomb of Fullerton, Mary Celeste Craig of Fairfield, Miriam Craig of Chico, Clare Craig of Vallejo and Annamaria Craig of San Pablo; his sons, Steven Craig of Davis, Timothy Craig of Fairfield, Francis Craig of Sacramento and Anthony Craig of Woodland. Also surviving are 24 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death are a son, Christopher Craig and two brothers Floyd and Arthur Craig.
Services: A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Craig is scheduled at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21, at Holy Rosary Church, at the intersection of Walnut and Court streets, Woodland. Interment will follow at Monument Hill Memorial Park, located at 35036 County Road 22. Evergreen Funeral Services of Woodland is assisting the family with arrangements.
CRAIG
Lois N. Craig
Lois Nedra Craig died May 10, 2000, at Woodland Memorial Hospital. Born to the late William J. and Myrtle J. Bowles on June 1, 1918, in Capay, she was 82.
A retired employee of Sears, she was also a resident of Yolo County for 60 years.
She is survived by her two daughters, Sharen Joslin and her husband Joe of Beverly Hills, Fla., and Dianne Mithen of Florence, Ore.; and her two sons, William Bowen and his wife Patty of Roseville and Calvin Craig of Sacramento.
She also is survived by her grandchildren, Richard Joslin and his fiancee Marcy Stephens of Woodland, Kim Overfield of Woodland, Brenda Bilodeau of Mesa, Ariz., Mary Carr and her husband Jim of Citrus Heights, Danica Champion and her husband Lloyd of Grand Prairie, Texas, and Bobby Hester and his wife Janine of Mount St. Helens, Ore.
Other survivors are her nine great-grandchildren and her special friend, J.D. Arterbury of Woodland.
