Theodore Stroh
Theodore Stroh died in Fergus Falls Friday, Jan. 23, 2004, at age 90.
Born April 2, 1913, in Venturia, N.D., Mr. Stroh was the son of the late John and Magdalena (Herrmann) Stroh. On June 29, 1939, he was marriage to Emma Engel in Venturia. He graduated from high school in Groton, S.D. and began farming in the McIntosh County area of North Dakota shortly thereafter. He then moved to Streeter, N.D, where he was employed by the International Harvester Company. In 1966, he moved to Davis, and was employed at the University of California, retiring in 1978. Later he moved to Woodland, and then in September 2001, he and his wife moved to Bismarck, N.D. He was a member of the Elks Club of Woodland. He was active in the churches he belonged to until his health began to fail. He served as president of the Davis Senior Citizens for two years, 1984 and 1985.
Survivors include his son, Robert and wife Mary of Sacramento; daughter, Kathleen Ball and friend, Richard Tamke Jr of Battle Lake, Minn.; and grandson, Christopher Stroh of Red Wing, Minn. He was preceded in death by his wife, Emma (Engel) Stroh, in March of 2003; seven sisters and five brothers.
The family requests memorials be directed to Davis Senior Center, 646 A Street, Davis, 95616, for the building expansion project of the Center; or to the charity of donor's choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Olson Funeral Home, Fergus Falls, Minn.
Services: Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck, N.D.
STROMGREN
Rebekah M. "Becky" Stromgren
Rebekah M. "Becky" Stromgren, a longtime civic leader in Davis, died Oct. 30, 2003, in Santa Rosa. She was 92.
She was born April 25, 1911, to the Rev. Chester Morrison Dellinger and Florence Foster Dellinger. She majored in music at Austin College in Texas, then continued her studies at UC Berkeley and Stanford following a move to Oakland at age 18. An accomplished pianist and organist, her love of music continued throughout her life.
She marriage George Stromgren in 1937. Following his discharge from the U.S. Navy, the couple moved to Davis. He taught and coached at UC Davis. He also built their family home on D Street, then the outskirts of town. She lived there until 1999, when she moved to Santa Rosa to be near family. She and her husband traveled often, and loved sharing slides of photos taken around the world.
Her career in community service began in 1955. She served as a board member and trustee for the Yolo County Office of Education for 14 years; president and member of the policy committee of the Yolo County School Boards Association; trustee for the Davis Joint Unified School District for 18 years; and as UCD director of education placement for 20 years.
She was also a member of the California Council on Education of Teachers, Yolo County Mental Health Association, International House, University Farm Circle Scholarship Committee, Davis Planning Commission, United Way Review Team and the assessment team for the Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
She was a member of the Association of California School Administrators, Region 3, for six years, and received its distinguished service award. She also received a PTA honorary service award and life membership.
She was a member and deacon of Davis Community Church for many years.
She will be deeply missed by those whose lives she touched, especially her grandchildren - she will be remembered for her bright smile and optimism that did not waver, even in recent years when her health failed, he family said. She appreciated kindness and valued her family and friends, always looking forward to social gatherings.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, George Stromgren; her only child, Jay Albert Stromgren; sisters Ruth Bolander and Rachel Embom; and brother Chester Dellinger.
She is survived by grandson Brent Alan Stromgren and his wife Kelly, granddaughter Aimee Walker and her husband Scott, great-grandchildren Henry and Ellee Walker and their mother, former daughter-in-law Jeanie Stromgren Benefield. She is also survived by daughter-in-law Sharon Wright, Wright's son Jeff Figeira, his wife Stephanie and their children Jake and Carrie.
One of the last things she said, according to her family, was that she wanted to go home to her beloved Davis.
A celebration of her life will begin at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Davis Community Church, 412 C St. Burial will follow at the Davis Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the UCD scholarship fund established in memory of George and Jay Stromgren at Sonoma National Bank, 801 Fourth St., Santa Rosa, 95404, or to the donor's favorite charity.
STRONG
Horace T. Strong
Horace Thomas Strong died May 10, 2000, in Carmichael. Born September 13, 1901, in Moscow, Idaho, he was 98 years old.
He was preceded in death by his wife Beryl J. Strong. He is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth Baldwin of Carmichael; son, Robert L. Strong of Newcastle, Wash.; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He lived in Idaho until the age of 10 when his family moved to Santa Ana. He graduated from Oregon State College in 1924 with a degree in agriculture. He was assistant farm adviser for Kern County for 17 years before being transferred to Berkeley as an Extension livestock specialist. He and his wife moved to Davis when the Extension office was relocated here.
While at UCD he was credited with contributions that helped make possible the development of California's giant cattle feedlot industry.
He retired in 1966 after a 40-year career with the University of California Agricultural Extension Service. In August of 1967 he was given the Pfizer Animal Science Extension award for distinguished service to the nation's livestock industry.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of North Sacramento Funeral Home. The family will hold a private interment.
STROUD
Judy Radia Stroud (1st of 2 obits.)
Judy Stroud died on Sept. 27, 2005 in Davis. Judy was born Judy Radia Soelberg in Clawson, Utah on April 18, 1924. She marriage Roy Brian Stroud on September 1945 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Shortly thereafter Judy and Roy moved to California. They resided in Woodland since 1956 where they raised their family. Judy was an active member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority. She was an expert seamstress and loved to travel. July was devoted to her family. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Judy Stroud was preceded in death by her husband of more than 40 years, Roy Brian Stroud, and her daughter, Paula Griffith. She is survived by her son, Dennis Stroud, his wife, Beth Greenwood; her granddaughter, Olivia Li Stroud of Davis; her grandson, Brian Hadley of Woodland and her sisters, Barbara of Idaho and Lee of Fountain Valley.

Funeral services will be held at Monument Hill Memorial Park on Monday, Oct. 3 at 10 a.m.

SABBADINI
Alex Sabbadini
Alex Sabbadini died Aug. 4, 2004, in Davis.
He was born Oct. 26, 1916, in Rome, Italy. A veteran of the European theater in World War II, he received a Purple Heart.
He was a professional fine arts appraiser and auctioneer in Sacramento for 46 years, and served as international president of the American Society of Appraisers and achieved status as a Fellow.
During his years as a prominent Sacramento businessman, he devoted countless hours to community service. He used his fine arts appraisal and auctioneering skills to volunteer for the annual KVIE fund-raising auction, various Crocker Art Gallery events, McGeorge School of Law, American Cancer Society and many other organizations.
Sabbadini was a board member of the Sacramento Symphony Association and the Sacramento Opera Guild. He served the Boy Scouts of America and the Big Brothers and Sisters. He was the recipient of Sacramento's PTA Lifetime Achievement Award.
He was a cancer survivor and volunteered his time to the Sacramento Ostomy Society by counseling other cancer patients in adjusting to normal life.
He made Davis his home for the past eight years at Covell Gardens and Sierra Health Care. He was known for his charm, sense of humor and genuine love for family, friends and country.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Elaine Judy Dreyfus, in 1977.
He is survived by his sons, Roger of San Diego and Steve of Woodland; daughters-in-law, Gail and Nancy; grandchildren, Amy Scott, Alex, Camille and Nick; and sisters, Emilia and Fernanda of Rome.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the exceptional staff at Sierra Health Care for their compassionate professionalism.
Services will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Davis, 27074 Patwin Road in Davis.

SACHS
Ernie H. Sachs
Ernest 'Ernie' H. Sachs died June 27, 2000, at Woodland Memorial Hospital. Born Oct. 19, 1914, in Minneapolis, he was 85.
He worked in personnel management for Minneapolis Moline Equipment for 35 years. His marriage of 30 years to Ida Pearl ended in 1969 when she died. He was a generous and caring father to his two daughters, Pamela, now living in Davis, and Donna, who died in 1980.
Twenty four years ago he marriage Barbara Izatt. Until recently, they lived and farmed her land in Excelsior Springs, Mo. Because of his and his wife's failing health, he came to live with his family in Davis this past March.
He is survived by his wife Barbara of Missouri; his daughter Pam Carlson and her husband Jim and grandchildren Matthew, Samuel and Emily of Davis; and his nieces, Gretchen Sachs Anderson and Bobbie Sachs Whiteaker and their families; as well as other relatives and friends in Minnesota.
A private service will be held Wednesday at Davis Community Church. He will be buried
in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Minnesota.
SACKETT
Harry Sackett
Harry Sackett died Wednesday, July 24, 2002, following a brief illness, at age 88.
Born Jan. 31, 1914, in Winters, Mr. Sackett came to Lodi in 1950. He marriage Dorothy Chamberlin in 1936. He was a district manager for Union Ice Co. and retired in 1979 after 46 years of service.
Mr. Sackett was a member of the Lodi Rotary Club for 52 years, retired in 1979 after 46 years of service. He was a member of the Lodi Rotary Club for 52 years and served as secretary for 10 years, in addition he was a Paul Harris Fellow. He was also a longtime member of the Elks Lodge No. 1900 of Lodi. According to his family members "his pastimes included swimming and walking."
He is survived by his daughter, Suzanne Sackett of Santa Rosa; son, Cedric Sackett of Lodi; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Mr. Sackett was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Sackett, in 1997; and brother, Buel Sackett.
A funeral service is scheduled at 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 30, at Gierhart-Wells & Donahue Funeral Home, with clergy from St. Anne's Catholic Church officiating. Committal will be private at Cherokee Memorial Park. There will be no visitation.
