Vicente "Vince" Gabriel Saldana
Vicente "Vince" Gabriel Saldana died in Woodland on Saturday, July 31, 2004, at the age of 16, due to an automobile accident.
Born in Woodland on Oct. 30, 1987, he attended local schools, and was a senior at Woodland High School. He is survived by his mother, Teofila Salazar; a sister, Roxanne Saldana; brothers Brian Saldana, and Michael, Frankie, Louie, Mark and Gary Salazar; and his aunt, Julie Salas all of Woodland.
A celebration of life is scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 8, at Freeman Park, from 2 to 5 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the Davis Christian Assembly, located at 3030 Sycamore Lane in Davis. Officiating will be Pastor John O'Hara, with interment to follow services at Monument Hill Memorial Park, 35036 County Road 22, Woodland.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Vicente Saldana Memorial Fund c/o Bank of the West, 186 Main Street in Woodland. Arrangements are under the direction of Evergreen Funeral Service of Woodland.

Age 83. Born Brown City, Mich., Oct. 24, 1921. Died at home surrounded by his loving family, Sept. 12, 2005 at El Macero.
Jim attended Michigan State University under the GI Bill majoring in agriculture. Served in the U.S. Army, 1939 to 1945 as Medical Staff Sergeant, 5th Army, ETO. Retired from State of California Department of Agriculture with 35 years service.
Belonged to just about every Masonic organization that exists. SALLEE
Marion Jackson "Jack" Sallee
Marion Jackson "Jack" Sallee passed away peacefully at his Marshfield, Missouri home on March 19, 2004. Born on April 13, 1935 in Marshfield, to William "Bill Jack" and Jessie Jewel (Richardson) Sallee, he was 68 years old.
He was united in marriage to Virginia "Gin" Roberts on Dec. 2, 1961 and to this union one daughter was born.
Mr. Sallee was a resident of Winters for over 30 years and a plumber by trade. He retired from Civil Service at Travis Air Force Base and ran his own plumbing business for many years. In 1999 he and his wife moved to Marshfield to be near their daughter and her family.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia; daughter Patricia Lynn Raines and her husband Carson; six grandchildren Andrew Philip Burdick, Aaron Christopher Burdick, Scott Patrick Burdick, Brandon Alexander Raines, Paul Travis Sallee Burdick and Jennifer Lynn Raines, all of Marshfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Graveside services were held on Wednesday, March 24, in Mount Sinai Cemetery, with Reverend Jack Day officiating. Visitation was held on Tuesday.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his name to the ALS Foundation for Lou Gehrig's Disease.
SALMON
Nancy Lucille Salmon
Nancy Lucille Salmon, 75, died March 1, 2000 of a heart attack while on a walk in Grass Valley.
Mrs. Salmon was born Nov. 20, 1924, in Napa, to Roland Prose McKenzie and Lucille Cooper Wolfskill McKenzie. She was a Winters High School graduate. She marriage Wilmer "Ras" Harrison Salmon in St. Helena, on July 20, 1946. She lived in various locations from Illinois to Hawaii with her husband, who was employed by the National Park Service. She enjoyed morning walks, golf and most of all, duplicate bridge.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law David (Mike) and VerJoyce Salmon of Rancho Cordova; Tim Salmon and Lynan Baghott of Klamath Falls, Oregon; and daughter and son-in-law Nancy and Don Peery of Redding; five grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law jack and Billie McKenzie of Napa; Bruce and Alice McKenzie of Woodland and Richard McKenzie of Sparks, Nevada.
She was preceded in death by her husband, mother and father, stepfather, Jack Swenson, and two brothers, Rolan and Bill.
A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m., Thursday, March 23, at 408 Colfax Avenue, in Grass Valley. Burial services will be held Friday, March 24, at 1 p.m. at Monticello Cemetery, Loop Road, Spanish Flats.
SALYARD
Ann Biddle Barriger Salyard
Ann Biddle Barriger Salyard died at her home in Haverford, Pa. Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2004 at age 74.
Mrs. Salyard was born Sept. 5, 1930 in Montclair, N.J. to Elizabeth Thatcher Barriger and John Walker Barriger IV. She graduated from Wellesley College, Wellesley, Mass. in 1952. In 1953 she graduated with a degree in secondary education from the Graduate College in Winnetka, Ill. and later earned her master's and doctorate's degrees in social-psychological development of college students at UCLA. She taught at high schools in Michigan and Illinois and later worked for UCLA. Mrs. Salyard then worked as an educational counselor and consultant in Haverford, Pa., as assistant professor at Widner University, Chester, Pa. and assistant director at Bryn Mawr College, Bryn Mawr, Pa.
Survivors include Mrs. Salyard's children, Robert Russel Salyard Jr. of Woodland, Lann Woehrle and Molly Salyard, both of Haverford, Pa., Lisa Brussel of Boulder, Colo. and her grandchildren, Alex, Sofie and Sven. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Russel Salyard and her sister, Betty Barriger.

SALYARD
Robert R. Salyard
Robert R. Salyard of Haverford, Pa., died unexpectedly of cardiac arrhythmia in New York on Dec. 14, 2000. He was 74.
A native of York, Neb., he graduated from York High School and joined the U.S. Navy V-12 program, serving as battalion commander of the ROTC unit at Northwestern University. He was commissioned upon graduation and served as communications officer on two U.S. destroyers assigned to mine sweeping off the coast of Italy, the former Yugoslavia and Greece. He received the Navy Cross for rescuing a drowning sailor off the coast of Patras, Greece.
Upon honorable discharge from the Navy, Salyard earned an MBA from Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration. During his long and distinguished business career of more than 50 years, he served as president and chief executive officer or chief operating officer of five industrial companies: American Cement Corp. (NYSE), AVC (AMEX), Financial Corporation of Arizona (Nasdaq), Builders Design Inc. (Nasdaq) and Sonobond Ultrasonics (private).
In 1989, Salyard founded Salyard Management Co., which provided management and operations consulting services to company officers and boards of directors nationwide. He also served as a director of Spencer Trask Securities and Spencer Trask Holdings Inc. of New York.
In addition to his love of the business world, Salyard had a love for current events, astronomy and especially his family. He regularly attended the sporting events, arts recitals and Scouting activities of his children.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Barriger Salyard of Haverford; three daughters, Lann Salyard Woehrle of Haverford, Lisa Salyard Brussell of Boulder, Colo., and Molly Roberts Salyard of Haverford; a son, Robert Russel Salyard Jr. of Woodland; and two grandchildren, Alex and Sophie Brussell of Boulder.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. John Vianney Church in Gladwyne, Pa., where relatives and friends are invited to call after 9 a.m. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in West Conshohocken.

Charlene L. (Higby) Samples
Charlene L. (Higby) Samples of Patterson died Thursday, Jan. 12, 2006 at Turlock Emmanuel Medical Center at age 68.
Mrs. Samples was born Feb. 15, 1937 in Chicago. She had been a Yolo Country resident for 35 years. She attended school in Livermore. In Woodland, she worked as a nurse at Woodland Memorial Hospital for more than 20 years.
Survivors include Mrs. Samples' children, Donald Lee Samples Jr. of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Dennis Clyde Samples and his wife Patty of Severy, Kan., Cheryl Jean Jacobson and her husband Jake of Patterson and Carene Lin Brandrup and her husband Monte of Manteca; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and her brother, Lloyd Higby and his wife Jean of Manteca. She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Donald Samples Sr.
