Ona Mae Boone Sarten
Ona Mae Boone Sarten died in Woodland's Alderson Convalescent Hospital Thursday, July 22, 2004, at age 90.
Born May 29, 1914, in Shawnee, Okla., where she grew up and graduated from Bethel School, Mrs. Sarten had been a long-time Yolo County resident. She was employed as a Licensed Vocational Nurse at Yolo General Hospital and Rancho Hospital. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Retha Rooney and husband Dave; son, DeLane Boone and wife Shirley; grandchildren, Pam Robles and husband Rudy, Debbie Webb and husband Richard, Cheri Gastineau and husband Dan, Sheila La Moureaux and husband Dan, Bruce Boone and wife Sheri, all of Woodland, and, Craig Boone of Galt; 11 great-grandchildren; and, three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Malcolm Boone.
The family requests memorials be directed to the carpet/chair fund at Woodland's Calvary Baptist Church.
Service: A graveside service is scheduled at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 27, in Woodland Cemetery. McNary's Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.

Leslie Saunders (1st of 2 obituaries)
Leslie Saunders, surrounded by family and friends, was called home to be with the Lord from cystic fibrosis on Aug. 6, 2005 at the UC Davis Medical Center.
Leslie was born in Woodland and resided in Sacramento where she attended school, graduating from Sacramento High School on May 21, 2005.
Knowing about her disease from a young age, Leslie never let it dampen her joy for life. Her love for the Lord Jesus Christ, her father, family and friends will be remembered with the deepest affection within our hearts.
She accomplished much in her short time on Earth, especially her desire to attend her senior prom and to graduate high school with her Class of 2005, of which she did in a grand manner. Leslie is survived by her loving and devoted father, Scott C. Saunders of Sacramento; her aunt, Stacey I. Brigham; cousin, Shelby I. Brigham; her grandmother, Marjorie P. Johnson, all of Woodland; and her grandmother, Terry Saunders of Des Moines, Iowa as well as paternal great-uncles, great-aunts and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Richard L. Saunders, James E. Johnson and her great-grandparents, Dan and Margaret I. Lunetta.
North Sacramento Funeral Home is assisting the family.
A gathering for prayer and fellowship will be held Saturday, Aug. 13 at 11 a.m., followed by a memorial service in remembrance of Leslie at 1 p.m. at Sacramento High School's Mel Lawson Theatre, 2315 34th St., Sacramento.

Leslie Saunders died at UC Davis Medical Center Saturday, Aug. 6, 2005 at age 18.
Miss Saunders was born in Woodland Sept. 25, 1986. She resided in Sacramento where she attended school, graduating from Sacramento High School on May 21, 2005.

SAVAGE
Florence Charlotte Savage
Florence Charlotte Savage died on May 16, 2004, surrounded by her loving family.
Known to her family and friends as Flo, she was born on Easter Sunday, April 20, 1925, to Florence and Francis Myers in Liverpool, England.
On April 10, 1943, she marriage Harold James Savage, who was serving in the Royal British Navy stationed in Liverpool.
The couple and their four children immigrated to the United States in 1954, settling in Oxnard. She spent many happy years as a homemaker and loving mother while assisting her husband in the family business. During retirement she traveled the country as she and Harold vacationed in their motor home.
In 2002 they moved to Davis, where she enriched the lives at Covell Gardens and University Retirement Community with her quick wit and beautiful smile, her family said.
She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Harold; son, Frank Savage and his wife Cheryl of Oxnard; and two daughters, Pamela Slatten and her husband John of Littleton, Colo., and Susan Savage-Michel and her husband William of Medford, Ore. She was a wonderful grandmother to 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers, Terrence and Kenneth Myers, both of Liverpool, England; and, many nieces and nephews.
The extended family gathered at the home of Ann Davis on on Wednesday to celebrate her life as an extraordinary wife, mother, grandmother and sister.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in her memory be sent to Yolo Hospice, P.O. Box 1014, Davis, CA 95617.
SAVALA
Trinidad “Trino” Garcia Savala
Trinidad “Trino” Garcia Savala of Long Beach died Jan. 31, 2006, in Sacramento. He was 89.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Friday at River Cities Funeral Chapel, 910 Soule St. in West Sacramento. A Rosary will follow at 7 p.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 1321 Anna St. in West Sacramento. A funeral Mass begins at 9 a.m. on Saturday at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Interment immediately follows at Davis Cemetery.
Born May 23, 1916, he was the eldest son of his family and began working as a migrant worker at an early age to support his nine siblings. He settled in Davis in 1947 and began working at the Guiberson Ranch as a laborer, which became Mace Ranch. He retired in 1981 from Jack Anderson Farms as its superintendent.
His family said he took pride in his work accomplishments and when asked was always willing to offer advice to new growers. He was devoted to his family and throughout his life remained close to his siblings and their families. He traveled throughout Mexico during the winter months visiting his family and extensive group of friends and co-workers.
He was preceded in death by his wives, Charlotte and Emily; his son, John; and his siblings, Catalina, Anita, Santos, Isaura, George, Albert, Maria and Rosendo.
He is survived by his children, Carmen Falero and her husband Carlos; Helen Savala; Tony Savala and his wife Dolores; daughter-in-law Marcy Savala; and his brother, David Savala.
He is further survived by 13 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
SAWYER
Donald Anthony Sawyer
Donald Anthony Sawyer of Napa died Feb. 4, 2006, after a brief illness. He was 72.
A memorial service begins at 4:30 p.m. Friday, March 10, at Fairfield Civic Center, 1000 Kentucky St.
Born in San Francisco on Sept. 6, 1933, he grew up in Marin County and attended Tamalpais and Marin Catholic high schools, where he was a standout on the football teams. He earned his bachelor's degree in history at UC Berkeley, and, after serving in the U.S. Marine Corps, he earned his law degree from Hastings College of Law at UC Berkeley.
He spent the majority of his professional life working as an attorney in Solano County, both in private practice and as a Solano County deputy public defender. He was also an adjunct professor at UC Davis School of Law, where he taught trial practice for more than 10 years. He was passionate about the legal process and worked tirelessly to ensure this clients received the best representation.
Family and friends knew him as an avid naturalist and outdoorsman. He was most at home hiking, fly fishing or bird watching in remote regions of Northern California and Alaska. His family and friends will miss his perspective, his sense of humor and his stories.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Stackhouse-Sawyer of Napa; his daughter, Anne Sawyer-Scharf of Placerville; a son, Greg Sawyer of Rochester, N.H.; and four grandchildren, Caitlin Scharf, Sarah Scharf, Mason Scharf and Molly Sawyer.

SAWYER
Donald Laverne Sawyer
Donald Laverne Sawyer died in Woodland Memorial Hospital Wednesday, March 27, 2002, at age 74.
Born June 26, 1927, in Shadron, Neb., Mr. Sawyer was the son of the late Raymond L and Edna Sawyer. He graduated from Woodland High School in 1945. He served in the Merchant Marines and worked for the Heidrick Bros. in Woodland. He served in the U.S. Army for two years. He graduated from Sacramento State with a degree in civil engineering and started his career with Teichert & Sons. He became the district engineer for the northern part of California. He retired from Teichert's in 1988. According to his family members, "he loved boating, traveling and his many friends." He served as the Commodore of the Stockton Yacht Club. He was a life member of the Woodland Elks Lodge No. 1299, a past member of Woodland Rotary and also served on the Board of Yuba College.
Mr. Sawyer is survived by his wife of 52 years, Barbara Sawyer; daughter, Donna Paschke; and son, Stephen Sawyer and wife Dr. Patricia Hassebrock, all of Woodland.
He is also survived by his grandchildren, Tara and Jason Paschke; great-granddaughter, Dawn Milliken and great-great-granddaughter, Geneva Milliken; sisters, Rosalee Storz and Wanda Brown, also all of Woodland; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service is scheduled at 11 a.m., Monday, April 1, at Monument Hill Memorial Park, Woodland.
The family requests memorials be directed to Woodland Memorial Hospital Foundation; American Cancer Society; or the charity of the donor's choice.

LOCKERBIE
David Lockerbie
David Lockerbie died June 12, 2000, in Santa Cruz. He was 47.
He was born Dec. 22, 1952, in Winnipeg, Canada, to John C. And Nora Brown Lockerbie. He was a resident of Yolo County for the past 10 years.
An employee of the United States Postal Service, in West Sacramento, for the past four years, Lockerbie was a frequent volunteer at the Doris Tate Crime Victims Bureau, repairing computers and other office equipment.
He enjoyed fishing, golf, traveling and working on computers.
Lockerbie is survived by his wife, Cheryl Lockerbie of Woodland; son, Scott Lockerbie of Woodland; mother, Nora Brown Lockerbie of Toronto; father, John Lockerbie of Calgary; sister, Caroline Woodley; and brother, Campbell Lockerbie of Toronto.
A memorial service will be held at the Woodland Presbyterian Church at Colombia and Gibson Road, in Woodland, Tuesday at 2 p.m.
