Michael Earl Warren
Michael Earl Warren passed away suddenly on Wednesday, June 16, 1999, at Sutter Davis Hospital in Davis. Michael was born, March 1, 1941, in Oakland, California, to Wallace and Charlotte Warren. He was 58.
A graduate of Grand Junction High School, he served his country by joining the Marines, then worked at Mare Island Shipyard as an electrical engineer for 16 years. Michael and his wife, Gretchen, only recently moved to Winters from Fairfield, but they were already a part of the Winters Community for the past six years. He attended Calvary Christian Fellowship at 13 East Baker Street. Michael was an enthusiastic bicycle rider, usually riding seven miles per day and often riding to the dam and back. Michael was a valued and loved member of Calvary Christian Fellowship of Winters. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife Gretchen of Winters; son, David Warren of Los Angeles, daughter, Kristin Winfrey of Modesto; brother, James Warren of Bremerton, Washington; sister, Patricia Warren of Bay Point, California; grandson, Kenneth Carter; two granddaughters, Natalie Carter and Rachel Winfrey, all of Modesto.
Michael was preceded in death by his daughter, Danielle Winfrey.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, June 19, at noon at the Calvary Christian Fellowship, 13 East Baker Street in Winters. Visitation and Interment took place on Monday, June 21, at Lakewood Memorial Park and Mortuary in Hughson, California.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Smith's Colonial Chapel in Winters.
WARRINER
George Edward Warriner
George Edward Warriner, a resident of Covell Gardens retirement community in Davis, died on April 27, 2004, at Woodland Memorial Hospital, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's disease. He was 92 years old.
He was born on April 18, 1912, in Pennsylvania to Ernest and Clara Warriner. He came to California as a teenager, where he graduated from Manuel Arts High School in 1930. He then attended UCLA, where he earned his bachelor's degree in economics in 1934 and was a member of the track team.
During World War II he was a civilian employee of the United States Navy. He was a successful businessman in Southern California, where he owned several different businesses during his career. He also served on the state licensing board for engineers. He was a member of the Masons and the Knights Templer Shrine.
He had been a resident of Yolo County for the past 14 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Eleanor Warriner, in 1989.
He is survived by his son, Thomas Warriner and his wife Jacqueline of Davis; his sister, Lillian Sahagian of Southern California; and two grandsons, Timothy E. and Jason E. Warriner.
A private family memorial is being planned.

WASHBURN
Everett Washburn
Everett Washburn died in Mercy General Hospital in Sacramento, Friday Dec. 23, 2005, at age 76.
Born Oct. 7, 1929, in Yountville, Mr. Washburn had been a Yolo County resident for 76 years. He was the son of the late William Washburn and Emma (Mason) Washburn. He served in the U.S. Navy for four years during World War II, stationed in the Pacific Islands. He was employed as a mechanic for about 50 years in the Woodland area.
His survivors include his daughter, Marcella Lynn Washburn of Sacramento; son, Larry Washburn; grandchildren, Scott Babb, Ashley Krivonojko, and Matt and Angela Washburn; and three great-grandchildren, Isaiah Anthony Babb, Zacariah Lee Babb and Natasha Krivonojko. He was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Marvurenne (Gulart) Washburn; son, Don Washburn; and, brothers Al and Bill Washburn.
The family requests memorials be directed to Yolo County Hospice. Arrangements are under the direction of Affordable Cremation, Burial & Casket Center of Sacramento.
Services: A celebration of life service is scheduled from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 8, 2006, at the VFW hall, 345 W. Kentucky Ave., Woodland.
WASSON
Carl Wasson
Carl Wasson died at Woodland Memorial Hospital Monday, Dec. 13, 2004 at age 83.
Mr. Wasson was born Aug. 30, 1921 in McClain County, Okla. He had been a Yolo County resident for 65 years. He was employed by Al Tandy Ranch, Dudley Stevens Ranch and the Nielson Garage of Esparto. He later retired from the Woodland School District as the head mechanic in 1983.
Survivors include Mr. Wasson's daughters, Judy Stone of Woodland and Phyllis Bailey of Esparto; his granddaughters, Dawn Wunder and her husband Lonny and Kim Medina, all of Woodland and Lisa Marbella and her husband Vince of Belfair, Wash.; his great-grandchildren, Sam and Amanda Juarez, Danielle and Nicolas Medina, Bradley and Amy Wunder and V.J. and Catherine Marbella; and his great-great-grandson, Samuel Juarez Jr. He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace.
Services: A graveside service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 17 at Cottonwood Cemetery in Madison. McNary's Chapel of Woodland is assisting the family with arrangements.
WATERHOUSE
Kathryn V. (Green) Waterhouse (1st of 2 obituaries)
Mrs. Kathryn (Green) Waterhouse passed away at Cottonwood Healthcare in Woodland Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2005 at age of 86. Kathryn was a native Woodlander, having been born here Sept. 4, 1918 to Charles Price Green and Cora (Woodard) Green, who predecease her. Kathryn was a Yolo County resident for the last 18 years.
Kathryn was a Registered Nurse for more than 42 years of her life, having attended school at Samuel Merritt College in Oakland and then worked at hospitals in the San Francisco Bay Area prior to joining the U.S. Navy after the beginning of World War II. Kathryn served as an Ensign in the W.A.V.E.S. during the hostilities in the Philippine Islands. It was during this time that she began her love affair with all things Oriental. Her family and friends knew her as "an achiever who always set her goals high and achieved those goals." She was loved and admired by all those who knew her.
Kathryn was a worldwide traveler, who, along with her husband, loved to visit the Orient and other exotic destinations. They owned their own sailboat and loved spending time on the water. She loved gardening, jazz music and the Sacramento Jazz Festivals, sharing time with her friends and spending time with her extended family. Through her education and her strength of character, she achieved the satisfaction of giving of herself, not only to her family, but also to her country.
Surviving Mrs. Waterhouse is her nephew, Charles Garton and his wife Burlene of West Sacramento; her nieces, Phyllis Hall and her husband Howard of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Dolores Garton of Dixon. Grandnieces, Sally Roggeveen and Suzanne Heidrick and her husband Joe Jr. and her grandnephew, Charles W. "Chuck" Williams Jr., all of Woodland. Many other grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnieces and nephews and great-great-grandnieces and nephews also survive. Her husband Glen Waterhouse; brother, Marvin Green; sisters, Mauim Harp and Laura Garton; nephew, Burt Garton and niece, Maxine Williams preceded Kathryn in death.
No visitation is scheduled. Private services for family only are scheduled at Woodland Cemetery. The family requests donations in Mrs. Waterhouse's memory be made to Hospice of Yolo County, P.O. Box 1014, Davis, 95617.

WATERMAN
Jackie B. Waterman
Mrs. Jackie Waterman passed away on Friday, Aug. 13, 2004 at Sutter Davis Hospital. Born on Aug. 19, 1932 in Bakersfield, she was 71 years old.
Mrs. Waterman grew up in Reno and graduated from Reno High School. She later marriage and moved to Sacramento where she raised her family and lived until moving to Winters 12 years ago. Mrs. Waterman owned Suspects Dinner Theater in Sacramento for the past 15 years. She enjoyed cooking and was a chef who was published in Bon Appetit Magazine. Her family described her greatest passion as being with her family.
She is survived by her children Julie Clifton of Sierraville, and Paul D. Waterman of Carmichael. She leaves her grandchildren Mike Eads and Tiffany Sonju, both of Winters, Jordan Waterman and Dalton Waterman, both of Carmichael; great-grandchildren Trinity and Isaiah Eads, of Winters. She is also survived by her sister Bobbie Ronk, of Connecticut.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, Aug. 18, at the Davis Funeral Chapel. A graveside funeral service was held on Thursday, Aug. 19, at 1 p.m. at the Winters Cemetery.
Davis Funeral Chapel assisted with the arrangements.
WATERS
Albert Leslie Waters (1st of 2 obits.)
Albert Leslie Waters passed away in Woodland on Saturday, Sept. 25, 2004 at age 91. Mr. Waters was born Nov. 16, 1912 on Mary's Island in Sutter County to Franklin and Hazel Lowe Waters. He had been a Yolo County resident for 45 years.
Albert had worked in the aerospace industry for more than 40 years, working for Northrop Aviation as an aircraft engineer. He also worked extensively on the Boeing 747 aircraft airframe and had a genuine love of the aviation industry. He was also a surveyor and commercial fisherman for part of his life. After retirement he became an avid vegetable gardener and fishing lure maker. Many Woodland residents visited with Al either daily or weekly to ask his advice for gardening tips and to spend time discussing the techniques that he experimented with in his garden and hothouse. It was a special time each year as the "Historic Stroll" participants stopped and visited with him at his home.
Survivors include Mr. Waters' daughter, Ingrid Lang of Manhattan Beach; his son, Bruce Waters of Lomita; his grandchildren, Lise and April Lang of Manhattan Beach; his sister, Louise Fletcher of Paulsbo, Wash. and his brother, James Waters of Knights Landing and many nieces and nephews. His wife, Margith Waters; his brother, Lowell Waters and his parents preceded him in death.
Services: A memorial service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 23 at his home at 627 North St., Woodland. Friends and family are invited to attend. Entombment was at Woodland Cemetery Mausoleum.
