Barbara J. Smith
Barbara J. Smith died on April 25, 2002 at Sutter Davis Hospital. Born on March 16, 1941, she was 61 years old.
Barbara lived in San Francisco for most of her life and was well loved by her friends and family. She gave her love and generosity to so many. She drove the Winters Senior Van and delivered meals for Meals On Wheels. Her unconditional love will live in our memories forever and she will never be forgotten.
She was the loving wife of Charles Lee Smith, of Winters. She was the loving mother of Thomas, Teresa Abarca and Christi Lee Smith, all of Winters. She is also survived by a sister, Beverly Barney of Eureka, a brother Richard of South Carolina, her first husband Frank Abarca of San Francisco and her mother-in-law Minnie Beiche of Montana.
She was preceded in death by her son, Michael.
Services will be held at the Winters Community Center on Thursday, May 2, at 1 p.m.
Donations may be made in her name at First Northern Bank.
SMITH
Bernice "Bea" Virginia Ellison Smith
Born Oct. 24, 1931, in Niceville, Fla., Mrs. Smith had been a Yolo County resident for 26 years. She was an active member of the Woodland Christian Center and served as a Sunday School teacher.
Survivors include her daughter, Linda Diana and husband Ted Blann of Roseburg, Ore.; sons, James David Smith and his partner Mary Dean of West Sacramento, Donald Wayne Smith, and wife Linda Sue Yarbrough of Zamora, Gerald Noah Smith and wife Lynn Diana Cooksey of Pensacola, Fla.; grandchildren, Nicole Blann-Moreland, Dustin Blann, Marcus and Matthew Smith, Jamie Smith Lopez and Gabriel Smith; and great-grandchildren, Lexi and Zachary Blann-Moreland, Kayla Smith and Isabella Lopez; and former daughter-in-law, Lori Jennings of Woodland. She was preceded in death by her husband, Noah Smith in 1992; her father, Maxwell Ellison; mother, Florence Allen Ellison; and brother, Charles M. Ellison.
The family requests memorials be directed to American Cancer Society; or Mercy House Hospice, 3035 Laurel Springs Drive, Roseburg, Ore., 97470. Arrangements are under the direction of McNary's Chapel.
Services: Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 28, 2003, at McNary's Chapel, Woodland. Graveside services immediately following in Woodland Cemetery, and a reception following at the American Legion on Bush St., Woodland.

Betty Ann Smith
Betty Ann Smith died in Woodland Monday, Feb. 21, 2005 at age 78.
Mrs. Smith was born Aug. 1, 1926 in Oregon. She had been a Yolo County resident for 75 years. She was a homemaker and a member of the Yolo Flyers Club, Town & Country Club and the Elks B.P.O.E. Emblem Club.
Survivors include Mrs. Smith's daughters, Cindy Foster and her husband Scott of Stockton, Lori Hardung and her husband Kurt of Reno, Nev.; her sons, Doug Smith and his wife Kathy and Tim Smith and his wife Debbie all of Woodland and 11 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, C.L. "Red" Smith.
The family requests memorials in Mrs. Smith's name be directed to Yolo Hospice, P.O. Box 1014, Davis, 95617 or to the Meals on Wheels Program.
Services: A celebration of Mrs. Smith's life is scheduled for noon Saturday, Feb. 26 at the Yolo Flyers Club. Interment will be private. Kraft Bros. Funeral Directors is assisting the family with arrangements.

Bonnie Ruth Smith
Bonnie Ruth Smith died at her home in Woodland, Monday, Aug. 8, 2005 at age 62.
Mrs. Smith was born Sept. 9, 1942 in San Francisco to Robert and Beverly (Beasley) Krull. She had been a Yolo County resident for 26 years. She graduated from McClymonds High School in 1960. She was an activity director at St. John's Retirement Village of Woodland for 25 years.
Survivors include Mrs. Smith's husband of 27 years, Byron Smith of Woodland; her stepmother, Bea Krull; her stepbrothers, Mike and Kenny Krull, all of Berkeley; and several nieces and nephews.
The family requests memorials in Mrs. Smith's name be directed to The American Cancer Society, 1765 Challenge Way, Suite 115, Sacramento, 95815.
Services: A memorial service is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10 at St. John's Retirement Village Chapel, 135 Woodland Ave., Woodland. Private interment will be held at Monument Hill Memorial Park in Woodland. Evergreen Funeral Service of Woodland is assisting the family with arrangements.

Charles Monroe Smith
Charles Monroe Smith died in his Woodland home Sunday, June 26, 2005, at age 90.
Mr. Smith was born Sept. 12, 1914, in Pine Bluff, Ark. He had been a Yolo County resident for 20 years. He had served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theatre. He was a woodcutter, carpenter and farmer, and for six years, he served as a crossing guard at Woodland Prairie Elementary School. He was also a member of Woodland United Fellowship Church.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife of 19 1/2 years, Anita of Woodland; daughter, Yvonna Smith of Lincoln; son, Monroe Smith of Auburn; stepdaughter, Debbie Juarez of Woodland; stepsons, Kenneth, Stanley and Bobby Vernon all of Woodland; 14 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is his sister, Monnie Lankford of Tracy. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his former wife, Ruby; and brothers Hugh and Phinous Smith.
The family requests memorials be directed to Woodland United Fellowship, in Mr. Smith's name.
Services: Visitation is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Wednesday, at McNary's Chapel, 458 College St., Woodland. A funeral is scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, June 30, at Woodland United Fellowship Church, 240 N. West St., Woodland, with Reverend Carl Morgan officiating. Interment will follow the funeral at Fair Oaks Cemetery, Fair Oaks. McNary's Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.

Dennis Charles Smith
Dennis Charles Smith died peacefully in his home on Jan. 4, 2003, after a battle with cancer. He was 55.
He was born May 23, 1947, in Sioux Falls, S.D., to Charles and Doris Smith, the oldest of three children. The family moved to San Diego in 1956. Smith majored in history and earned his bachelor's degree from UC San Diego in 1969 and his master's degree from San Diego State University in 1973.
After a brief stint in the U.S. Air Force, he enrolled in UC Davis with the intent of obtaining a Ph.D. in history. He worked for 24 years at the Energy Commission, from which he retired in December.
As an amateur astronomer, he established and hosted for many years the monthly Explorit Astronomy Club, his goal being to make astronomy fun and accessible to families and young people. He supported Big Brothers/Big Sisters and was both a formal and informal Big Brother to several boys. He was active in his neighborhood, co-hosting many block parties and serving as block captain for the Neighborhood Watch association.
He is survived by his parents, Charles and Doris Smith, sister and brother-in-law Cheri and Gary Walling, and niece Kelsey Walling, all of Jackson; his brother, Kevin Smith of San Diego; his wife, Christal Waters; his children, Charles and Ellery Smith; his sister-in-law and her husband, Mary-Mignon and Bill Mitchell of Belmont; and his many aunts and cousins in California, South Dakota, Iowa, Washington and British Columbia.
A celebration of his life is planned for Saturday, Feb. 8, at 2 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Davis, 27074 Patwin Road in rural West Davis. SMITH
Edythe Clarissa Smith
Edythe Clarissa Smith died Dec. 6, 2003, at the University Retirement Community in Davis. Born July 1, 1915, in Bonnyville, Alberta, Canada, she was 88 years old.
While working in Edmonton, Alberta, she met Lloyd M. Smith, and they were marriage on June 26, 1948. In 1950, the couple moved to Davis, where Lloyd completed studies for his Ph.D. at UC Davis, and then in 1954 joined the department of food science and technology.
Edythe led a very full life. Her family says she especially enjoyed cooking, entertaining in her home, traveling abroad, designing clothing and raising her sons. "She was an active and well-loved member of the Davis community, " her family says.
She and her husband had the opportunity to live in New Jersey, New Zealand, Australia and Brazil while on sabbatical leaves.
She is survived by her sister, Lorraine Mather of Edmonton; her husband, Lloyd M. Smith, professor emeritus, of Davis; and their sons, Michael and his wife Elaine of Davis and Douglas and his wife Lisa of Fair Oaks.
She was devoted to her granddaughters, Ashley Smith of Davis and Lauren Dunn and Rachel Dunn, both of Fair Oaks. The family also offers loving acknowledgment to Ann Moore and family of Irvine, Rose and George Besser of Davis, and to Edythe's many nieces and nephews in Alberta.
Per family request, a private memorial service will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Alzheimer's Association.
