JOHNSON

Wyatta Diane Johnson

Wyatta Diane Johnson passed away on Saturday, June 2, 2001, at Mercy San Juan Hospital in Carmichael. A resident of Winters for 57 years, she loved animals and gave food and shelter to all in need, and made ceramics and all crafts.

She is survived by her grandmother, Jewel Berry of Winters, parents Lillie and Carl Branscum of Winters, son Paul Orval Fallgreen of Sacramento, brothers Butch Branscum of Winters and Wyatt Linley of Sacramento, sisters, Darlene Linley of Winters and Brenda Webb of Mount Pleasant, Arkansas, grandchildren Alexandra Fallgreen, Samantha, Nathan and Chance Barnette, all of Sacramento, aunt Thelma Mytys of Norwalk, nieces, Sunshine Eddy of Winters and Dawn Edwards of Los Angeles, nephews Michael Ranstell of Melbrea and Justin Linley of Winters.

Wyatta was preceded in death by her grandfather, George Berry of Winters; grandparents, Luther and Estele Linley of Sacramento; father, Wyatt Newton Linley of Sacramento; and brother, Steven Branscum of Winters.

A graveside service was held on Wednesday, June 6, at the Winters Cemetery. Donations may be made in her memory to a charity of the donor's choice.

Arrangements were under the direction of Smith's Colonel Chapel in Winters.

JOHNSON-WELLS

June M. Johnson-Wells

June M. Johnson-Wells died at Northwest Medical Center on Sunday, March 23, 2003, at age 72.

Born March 30, 1930, in Konawa, Okla., Mrs. Johnson-Wells was the daughter of Albert and Effie Walker Collins. She was a district sales manager for avon for 16 years in Solano and Yolo Counties. She was a member of Oakley Chapel Methodist Church in Rogers.

Survivors include her husband, Charles Wells; daughters, Carla Pevehouse of Fayetteville and Keneta Sanchez of Roseville; sister, Mary Elizabeth Irby of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Michael McCaskey, Mindy Regan and Jessica Sanchez, all of Roseville, and Tommy Pevehouse and Katie Pevehouse, both of Fayetteville; and great-grandchildren, Michael John Regan III, Ashley Douglas, Ryan Douglas and Dylan Faucett, all of Roseville. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Carl Kenneth Johnson.

The family requests memorials be directed to Susan G. Komen, Breast Cancer Foundation, 5005 LBJ Freeway, Suite 250, Dallas, Texas 75244.

Arrangements are under the directions of Moore's Chapel of Arkansas.

Services: The family will greet friends from 6 to 7 p.m. today, Wednesday, April 26, at Moore's Chapel, 206 W. Center St., Fayetteville, Ark. 72701. There is a service scheduled at 11:30 Thursday, March 27, also at Moore's Chapel with Pastor Jack Schaible officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Memorial Gardens.

JOHNSTON

Adreon Beauton Johnston

Adreon Beauton Johnston died following a long battle with Mylodysplastic Syndrome Thursday, May 2, 2002, at age 82.

Born April 17, 1920, in Manilla, Ark., Mr. Johnston had been a resident of Woodland for 40 years. He worked at A.C. Spark Plug in Flint, Mich. before beginning six years of duty with the Flint Michigan Fire Department. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and moved to California shortly after because of Irene's illness. He soon established several Schwin Bicycle and Hobby Shops and worked for Modean Manufacturing while attending Whittier College and Long Beach State.

After graduating with a master of arts degree in 1952 he began a 34-year teaching career in the East Whittier School District and retired from teaching in 1978 having served one year in the Esparto School District and the last 16 years at Hiram Johnson Sr. High in Sacramento. He enjoyed traveling, hunting, fishing, raising horses and training hunting dogs. He enjoyed flying his own airplane for several years before turning it in for an interest in Antique cars. He was a member of the Sacramento Reliable A's Model A Ford Club of America and the Sacramento Valley Model T Club as well as the Order of the Elks Woodland Lodge No. 1299.

Mr. Johnston is survived by his wife of 43 years, Jean K. Hamman Johnston; daughters, Carol Ann Weinmann of Woodland and Gale Adrian Emmons of Klamath Falls, Ore.; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; adopted daughter, Young S. Chong and son, Young Chul Sim and wife Ellene and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Irene Julia Shayman; and son, Adreon Brent, in 1983.

Friends, family and students are invited to bring a story to share and attend a Celebration of Life for Mr. Johnston at 1 p.m., Saturday, May 11, at the recently established Johnston home.

The family requests memorials be directed to Adreon Brent Johnston 4-H Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 2940, Carmichael, 95609; or the charity of the donor's choice.

Simple Traditions of Carmichael is assisting the family with arrangements.

JOHNSTON

Ivan Fredrick Johnston

Ivan Fredrick Johnston, age 63, a resident of Winters for 31 years died suddenly on August 1, 2005 at the Sutter Roseville Medical Center with his family at his side. He was born on April 14, 1942 in Boaz, Wisconsin to Rodney and Edna Johnston.

He started his career in his teens working summers with Carter Construction in North Sacramento. He was a local and regional contractor for 40 years plus. He worked on many houses and public buildings in the Bay Area to building luxury homes in Truckee and Granite Bay. In 1998, he started his own construction company, MI Construction and was a sub contractor with Palmer Construction and Starwood Construction of Woodland.

Ivan was an avid motorcycle enthusiast who enjoyed spending his days working on a bike for a friend/grandchild or taking his bike up to the Stoneyford area. He had just received his 25-year lifetime membership in the America Motorcycle Association. He was also active in the community and this included his most recent volunteer work installing the mow strip around the track at Winters High School.

Ivan is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Margot Colleen and children, Richard of Sacramento; Mickey (wife Robin) of Ojai; Debra Vomacka (husband Mark) of Dobbins, and step-children Carolyn Chambers (fiancé Ed Gale) of Winters, Carwin Brice II (wife Margarita) of Winters; Cynthia Maze (husband Scott) of Lenoir, North Carolina; and Brian Brice (fiancé Tonya Morrow) of Elmira. Ivan came from a close family and was one of ten children. Surviving him are Ronald of St. Peter, Minnesota; Elaine Sullaway of Sacramento; Bill (wife Dorothy) of Rio Linda; Linda Elliot of Citrus Heights; Sharon De Groot of West Sacramento; David of Fair Oaks; and Paul (wife Nancy) of Phoenix, Arizona. He was a proud and devoted grandfather and uncle to his numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. His parents Rodney and Edna Johnston preceded him in death.

A Mass of Christian burial was held at St. Anthony in Winters on Saturday, August 6 at 1 p.m. The Celebrant was Father Chuck Kelly. The interment will be held at a later date in Weaverville, CA.

He was a compassionate, caring man who helped many in their time of need. He will be deeply missed by all. By being an organ donor, Ivan gives the gift of life to others.

In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorial contributions be made to St. Anthony, the American Heart Association or the charity of one’s choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Davis Funeral Chapel in Davis.

JOHNSTON

Ruth Marie (Enhelder Susa) Johnston

Ruth Marie (Enhelder Susa) Johnston died as the result of a stroke in her Woodland home, at 7:58 a.m. Sunday, April 17, 2005, at age 87.

Born July 17, 1917, in Neillsville, Wis., to Clara May (Newell Enhelder) Fielding and Willis Enos Enhelder, she was the second-born of four children. She was educated in Wisconsin and California. Having relocated to Woodland in 1942, she had been a Yolo County resident for more than 30 years. For 40 years she served in the nursing field - Yolo General Hospital, Woodland Clinic Hospital, Alderson Convalescent Hospital and Hacienda Convalescent Hospital, along with service in Ukiah and in Shelton, Wash. She was a member of Jehovah's Witness Kingdom Hall of Yolo.

Mrs. Johnston is survived by her daughter, Leora Allena (Johnston) Zeltner and husband Marvin of Woodland; sons, Michael Edward Susa and wife Debbie of Hoodsport, Wash., James Edward Johnston and Edward Allen Johnston and wife Emi, all of Woodland, and Robert Willis Johnston and companion Norma of Washington; and more than 16 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 25 great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving is her sister, Grace Elizabeth (Enhelder) Griep of Bonney Lake, Wash.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Johnston was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Edward Raymond Susa and James Edward Johnston; son, Richard Carl Susa; sister, Marian Joyce (Enhelder) Reimer; and brother Eugene Jacque Enhelder.

Memorials, in Mrs. Johnston's name, may be directed to the charity of the donor's choice.

Services: A memorial service is scheduled at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 30, at Jehovah's Witness Kingdom Hall of Yolo, 13890 County Road 99w, Yolo. Evergreen Funeral Services of Woodland is assisting the family with arrangements.

JOJO

Ronald Samuel Jojo

Ronald Samuel Jojo, 66, of Brookings, Ore., died April 27, 2005, at his home, from cancer.

He was born Aug. 16, 1938, in Woodland to Samuel George and Hazel Arka (Schilling) Jojo.

Mr. Jojo grew up and went to school in Woodland. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1955 and served until 1959. He held an Associate of Arts from Sacramento City College, in Sacramento.

He marriage Sandra LaRea Flow on April 13, 1973 in Carmichael.

Mr. Jojo had a 44-year career as a Stationary Engineer in the health care industry working for the County of Sacramento Hospital and the Kaiser Hospital in the Sacramento area.

He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Mr. Jojo was a member of Elks Lodge 2103 in Carmichael, the Trail Bike Sportsman Association, and of the R.S.E.S., a society of engineers in the field of refrigerated service.

He and his wife moved to Brookings, Ore. in the fall of 1999.

Mr. Jojo liked gardening, camping, old cars, and motorcycles. He attended a monthly breakfast gathering at Smuggler's Cove Restaurant where motorcycle riders and enthusiasts meet to talk about their riding adventures.

He is survived by his wife, of Brookings, Ore.; brother and sister-in-law Douglas and Nadine Jojo of Tracy; daughter and son-in-law Susie and Alan Rowley of Yuba City; daughters Janna M. Fiori of Citrus Heights, and Tanya L. Kakonyi of Sacramento; son R. Darryl Jojo of Sacramento; and seven grandchildren.

Mr. Jojo was preceded in death by his parents, and nine brothers and sisters.

Memorial donations in his name can be made to Curry County Hospice, P.O. Box 746, Gold Beach, Ore. 97444, or to the American Cancer Society, 31 West 6th St., Medford, Ore. 97501.

Local memorial services will be at the Elks Lodge No. 1934, in Brookings, Ore. Funeral services and interment will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 21, 2005 at Monument Hill Memorial Park, 35036 County Road 22, Woodland, 95695.

Arrangements are under the direction of Redwood Memorial Chapel and Crematory.

JONES

Carroll L. Jones

Carroll Leon Jones died July 24, 2001, in Davis, where he lived for 60 years. Born on May 19, 1917, in Beeler, Kansas, he was 84.

Jones was a retired mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Davis, where he worked for 32 years. After his retirement, he was a full-time volunteer for 10 years for the Short-Term Emergency Aid Committee. He enjoyed collecting stamps, reading and gardening. He was a veteran of World War II, serving the whole time in the Philippines. He was a 53-year member of the Davis Community Church.

He is survived by his wife, Lucille A. Jones of Davis; his daughter Bobbie and husband John Irvin of Woodland; his son Ronald Jones and wife Jan of Ajijic, Jalisco, Mexico; son David Jones and wife Suzanne of Julian; and son Jeffrey Jones and wife Debbie of Norcross, Ga.

He is also survived by eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Jim Jones of Concord and Morland Jones of Ness City, Kan. He was preceded in death by eight brothers and a sister.

A graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at the Davis Cemetery. Memorials or remembrances may be directed to the Parkinson's Association of Sacramento Valley, 900 Fulton Ave., Building 100, Suite 5 in Sacramento, or a charity of choice.
