Thomas Jefferson Johnson
Thomas Jefferson Johnson, 80, a native of Kansas who had lived in Esparto since 1935, died Saturday morning in Yolo General hospital, where he had been a patient for the past week.
Mr. Johnson, who had been in failing health for some time, is survived by his wife, Gertie; a son, Oscar of Esparto, and three daughters, Mrs. Grace Bair of Woodland, Mrs. Bettie Pearson of Healdsburg, an Mrs. Phoebe Smith of Orangevale.
Also surviving are the following brothers and sisters: Luna Johnson, Woodland; Sumner Johnson, Winters; George Johnson, Winters, and Mrs. Susie Ostrander, Olivehurst, as well as 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were to be held a 2 p.m. today from the McNary funeral chapel with interment following in Cottonwood Cemetery in Madison.

JOHNSON
William Kenneth "Bill" Johnson
William Kenneth "Bill" Johnson died June 4, 2003, surrounded by his loving family of girl. He was 65.
Born Aug. 17, 1937 in Los Angeles to Margaret Grace and Elbert Francis Johnson, he was raised in Pico Rivera. A star athlete in football and track, he was president of the 1955 El Rancho High School senior class, his family said. He earned a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering at UC Berkeley and his master's degree, also in civil engineering, from California State University, Sacramento.
He moved with his family to Davis in 1968 and worked as an engineer with the Planning Analysis Branch of the Hydrologic Engineering Center. He also taught classes for many years in the UC Davis Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. He was an active member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and received numerous professional awards, his family said. Later in life he developed a keen interest in septic engineering, becoming a licensed septic engineer in Alaska and California.
He was active in the community as a member of the Davis Religious Community for Sanctuary, as a board member of Bread of Life, and as a volunteer for Yolo County Hospice. He received the "Gift of Heart" Award and was named California Hospice Volunteer of the Year in 2000.
He was also active in the church, attending both St. Martin's Episcopal Church and University Covenant Church during his life in Davis. He devoted his life to spiritual grown and meditation, his family said, studying the works of Thomas Merton, arranging Taize services and teaching the word of the Lord.
In the 1990s, he fell in love with Homer, Alaska, spending his summers there salmon fishing, berry picking and enjoying the beauty of life.
He is best remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, his family said. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Linda Dianne; daughters Susan Lynn Johnson of Davis, Laura Grace Green of Rocklin and Nancy Louise Deaver of Davis; grandchildren Cassidy Lynn and Autumn Grace Green and William "Willy" Roy and Meghan Susanne Deaver. He is also survived by brothers Richard Glenn Johnson and wife Nancy Hampel of El Cajon and Michael Allen Johnson and wife Sharon of Sacramento.
A memorial service is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 11, 2003 at St. Martin's Episcopal Church. A graveside service at the Davis Cemetery will precede the memorial.

JONES
Cleda L. Jones
Cleda L. Jones died on Dec. 14, 1999, at Diamond Ridge Care Center in Pittsburg. Born on Nov. 25, 1919, in Little Rock, Ark., she was 80.
She lived in Davis and Woodland for many years before moving to Antioch. While living in Antioch, she owned and operated a day care center for many years. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Woodland.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Jones, in 1986.
She is survived by her six children, Dale Jones of Sacramento and his wife, Nita, David Jones of Carson City, Nev., and his wife, Donna, Fran Leon of Antioch and her husband, Joe, George Jones of Texas, Russ Jones of Red Bluff and his wife, Sharon, and Fred Jones of Carson City, Nev., and his wife, Annie. She also leaves 22 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
She leaves her three brothers, Henry Bennett of Fresno and his wife, Geneva, Raymond Bennett of Idaho and his wife, Bea, and Clarence (Chuck) Bennett of Fresno and his wife, Lori; and her two sisters, Katie White of Arkansas and Iva Bennett of Kansas.
Friends are invited to attend the funeral service at noon Monday at Davis Funeral Chapel, 116 D St., Davis. Burial will follow at the Davis Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Davis Funeral Chapel.
JONES
David Allen Jones
David Allen Jones died on April 24, 2004, at Sutter Davis Hospital after a long illness. He was 66 years old.
Born Jan. 15, 1938, in Brawley, he was raised in Hickman and attended Hughson High School. He moved to Placerville, where he worked for Wetzel-Oviat Lumber for 10 years and then moved to Dixon, where he worked for UC Davis as a senior mechanic for 25 years until his retirement in 1991.
After retiring, he moved back to Placerville, where he lived until 1998. Due to his illness, he returned to Dixon to live with his family.
He enjoyed softball, sailing, golfing, gardening and music.
He is survived by two sons, Mark Jones and his wife Becky, and Shaun Jones of Dixon; a sister, Kay Barnes and her husband Jary of Hickman; two brothers, Dale Jones and his wife Solvieg and Gary Jones and his wife Marilyn, all of Placerville; six grandchildren, Katie Hartley, Brandon and Courtney Jones, and Erin, Heather and Jerrod Filbert; and, one great-grandchild, Aubree Cardin, all of Dixon.
A memorial will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday, May 16, at 2443 Nowalk Drive in Diamond Springs. The Rev. Dick Smith will preside.
JONES
Dora Helen Jones
Dora Helen Jones died at her home in Esparto Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2005 at age 75.
Mrs. Jones was born April 27, 1930 in Union, Pa. to Grant A. and Sallie Anna (Siebert) Walmer. She had been a Yolo County resident for 33 years. For more than 33 years, she had been employed at Alderson Convalescent Hospital as a nutritionist. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church of Woodland.
Survivors include Mrs. Jones' sons, John Dean Jones of Esparto and Paul Dale Jones; her sisters, Edna Walmer, Eva Brown and Carrie Carnathan; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lionel C. Jones; her sisters, Amanda Philby, Anna Walmer, Sallie Walmer, Margaret Walmer and Cora Walmer; and her brothers, Hardy Walmer, Moses Walmer, Grant Walmer and Paul Walmer.
Services: A graveside service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10 at Monument Hill Memorial Park in Woodland, conducted by the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Kraft Bros. Funeral Directors is assisting the family with arrangements.
JONES
Harry (Ginger) Jones
Harry (Ginger) Jones died in his home Sunday, Feb. 16, 2003, at age 91.
Born in Rumsey, Mr. Jones was a lifelong Rumsey resident. He was son of Harry and Della Jones. He was raised and educated in Yolo County graduating from Esparto High School in 1930. He enlisted in the Army in 1941 and served in Germany and Alaska. He marriage Pearl Weitz on April 3, 1949 in Tracy. He was a charter member of the Western Yolo Grange, a member of the Guinda Methodist Community Church. He also served as fire commissioner for the Capay Valley Fire Department.
Survivors include his wife Pearl; daughters, Pauline McDougal of Lebanon, Ore., Patti Stange of Lincoln, Peggy Scherwinka and Glenda Grey of Woodland and Sibyl Barnum of Tacoma, Wash.; son, Lynn Jones of Esparto; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Bill Jones; and sisters, Nell Jones, Maude McGrew and Ruth Duncan.
Memorial contributions can be made to support Alzheimer's Research; Diabetes Research; or to the charity of donor's choice. McNary's Chapel of Woodland is assisting the family with arrangements.
Services: A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 21, at Western Yolo Grange Hall in Guinda.
JONES
Lee D. Jones
Lee Dudley Jones died on Dec. 21, 1999, in Davis. Born on Jan. 3, 1916, in Lincoln, Neb., he was 83.
He was a Dixon resident for 30 years.
He served during World War II as a master sergeant with the U.S. Army and worked for Armco Drainage and Metal for 32 years.
During high school, Jones played all sports and continued to watch sports as an avid football fan. He also enjoyed fishing.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Frances Jones of Dixon; daughter, Nancy Stiles of Davis; two grandsons, Brian and David Stiles of Davis; and three great-grandchildren, Shelly, Beth and Tom Stiles, all of Davis.
Private family services have been held. Interment took place at the Silveyville Cemetery.
