Mary W. Peterson
Mary W. Peterson died July 3, 2004, in her home in Sacramento. She was 81 years old.
Born in Sugar Notch, Pa., on Oct. 11, 1922, she lived in Davis from 1965 until 1990, when she moved to Sacramento.
She was preceded in death by her son, David M. Peterson, in 1999 and her husband, George D. Peterson Jr., in 1989.
She is survived by her daughter, Lorraine Peterson of Sacramento; grandson, Michael L. Peterson, his wife Kerri and two great-grandsons, Grant and Eric, of Roseville; grandson, George L. Peterson of Sacramento; and daughter-in-law, Carmen Peterson of Davis.
In accordance with her wishes, there will be no funeral. A private family memorial is planned.
PETERSON
Olline V. Peterson
Olline V. Peterson of Davis died April 16, 2005, at Stollwood Convalescent Hospital in Woodland. She was 89.
Born Nov. 29, 1915, in Tynan, Texas, to James and Evvie Forshee, she was among the last Americans to travel by covered wagon, moving with her parents across Texas to new farm land in Oklahoma at the age of 2.
After attending Oklahoma Agricultural and Mechanical College for three years, she moved to Los Angeles in the early 1940s. There she was a bookkeeper and homemaker.
She was said to have loved all animals and gardening.
After the death of her husband, Laurence, she moved to Davis in 1993 to be closer to family.
She is survived by her son, Michael R. Peterson, daughter-in-law Alice, and granddaughter Anne, all of Davis; and sister, Corrine Forshee of Los Angeles.
A private graveside service will be held at the Davis Cemetery, followed by a memorial service in Los Angeles in June.
JOHNSON
Margaret G. Johnson
Margaret Grace Johnson, died in Davis on Nov. 4, 2001, at the age of 93. Born Aug. 8, 1908, in Tacoma, Wash., to William and Harriet (Roberts) Sharp, she lived in Yolo County for the past three years, though she lived most of her adult life in Southern California.
She worked in the health care field for 45 years, first at Los Angeles County General Hospital as a registered nurse, and later as a school nurse in the Lowell School District in Los Angeles. She was an active member of the Whittier Methodist Church and had a lifelong love of music and animals.
She is survived by her sons, William Johnson and his wife Dianne of Davis, Michael Johnson and his wife Sharon of Sacramento and Richard Johnson and his wife Nancy Hampel of El Cajon. She is also survived by three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert Francis Johnson in 1977; brothers, William J. Sharp in 1911, Robert E. Sharp in 1979 and John D. Sharp; and a sister, Dorothy E. Powers in 1997.
Private family services are to be scheduled at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Society for the Prevention of Animal Cruelty of Yolo County, P.O. Box 510, Davis, CA 95617.

Oscar O. Johnson
Services Held for Oscar Orvel Johnson
A graveside service was held in the Capay Cemetery on Friday, June 22, 1990 for Oscar Orvel Johnson, who died Monday, June 18, in Woodland Memorial Hospital. A native of Kansas, he was 85.
Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife, Ruth Johnson of Esparto; daughters, Donna Foy of Winters, Virginia Ayala of Esparto, and Suzanna Simmons of Woodland; son, Henry Decaillet of Mountain Ranch; sisters, Grace Bair of Esparto, and Bess Pearson and Phoebe Schmidt, both of Orangevale; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The family suggests memorials in the form of donations to the Woodland Memorial Hospital ICU in care of the Woodland Memorial Hospital Foundation.
JOHNSON
Patricia Ann "Pat" Johnson
Patricia Ann "Pat" Johnson of Davis died July 23, 2004. She was 74.
Born in San Francisco on Oct. 4, 1929, to Charles and Kathryn Belton, she grew up in Redwood City with her parents and two sisters. She attended Pomona College and UC Berkeley, where she studied literature and music.
In 1950, she marriage Ralph Johnson. They moved to Davis in 1957 when he accepted a teaching position in the UC Davis art department. The couple later divorced in 1966.
Pat Johnson worked on the UCD campus in the political science department for many years. Scores of graduate students came to know her as a friend and relied on her guidance and good humor. After retiring from the university, she found she missed working with students. She began volunteering as a classroom aide in Cindy Finley's first-grade class, first at West Davis Elementary and then at Patwin Elementary. For more than 10 years, she nurtured and was nurtured by "her" first-graders.
She and her sister Kay were lifelong friends and companions both at home and on their many travels together.
The family fondly remembers many Christmases spent in her home, with Johnson often at the piano leading them in song. Music was a large part of her life. She was an accomplished pianist who continued the pursuit and enjoyment of music all of her life. Her children and friends knew her as a woman with an agile, original mind and a generous spirit. She found great joy in small things.
She is survived by her two children, Clay Johnson of Trinidad and Jennifer Johnson of Inverness; sister, Kay Schneider of San Jose; grandson Miles Johnson; step-grandsons, Joshua Holme and Jeffrey Jaeger; daughter-in-law, Christine Hills; and many nieces and nephews throughout Northern California.
No services are planned at this time.

JONES
Lois Jean Liechty Jones
Lois Jean Liechty Jones died May 24, 2005, at University Retirement Community in Davis. She was 79.
A memorial service begins at 10 a.m. Friday, June 24, at the Davis Cemetery, Eighth Street and Pole Line Road.
Born Sept. 2, 1925, in Wayland, Iowa, she was a 1942 graduate of Wayland Iowa High School and graduated in 1951 from the University of Northern Iowa at Cedar Falls (Iowa State Teachers College). After graduation, she attended Teachers College at Columbia University in New York for additional teacher training.
She taught school in Haskins, Wyman and Muscatine, Iowa, before moving to California in 1956 where she continued to follow her interests in teaching mathematics, actuarial work in health insurance and as a certified property manager and broker.
She took all of these skills with her as a member of the Davis Senior Housing and Care Continuum board of directors. That senior housing project opened in Davis in February 2000 as the University Retirement Community.
She and her husband shared interests in the visual arts, music and dance. She served on the Art Friends board of the UC Davis art department. The UC Davis music department's Empyrean Ensemble plans to dedicate to her its upcoming evening of music composed by graduate students.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Benjamin of Wayland, Iowa.
She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Norman O. Jones of Davis; a son, Michael B. Jones of Sacramento; and her brother Robert and his wife of Gutenberg, Iowa.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial gifts be made to the University Retirement Community Foundation, Attn: Tracy Carlier, 1515 Shasta Drive in Davis, or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Mary I. Jones
Mary I. Jones died at Alderson Hospital in Woodland Saturday, Nov. 6, 2006 at age 84.
Mrs. Jones was born June 21, 1922 in Woodland and was a Woodland resident for 36 years. She attended Woodland High School and worked as a laundress.
Survivors include Mrs. Jones' sister, Roselene Jones; her brother, David Hayes; her niece, Leslie Declouette; her nephew, Kaliph Mohamed; her grandniece, Leslie Polendo; and grandnephews, Aaron, Ahmed and Todd Declouette and numerous great-grandnieces and grandnephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Jones and her mother, Getrude Hayes.
Services: A private interment is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 11 at Monument Hills Memorial Park, Woodland. Kraft Bros. Funeral Directors of Woodland is assisting the family with arrangements.
